When everybody knows midfield is our problem we are always going to have issues with any team

Ah that Alex chance was lovely real pity he didn't score.

Ndidi needs help in the middle of the park. He just hasn't got the legs anymore.

Don't know why Chukwueze was moaning when he came off wasn't like he lit up the game with some special performance.
The coach made changes too early if na me be chuks too I go vex haba just 50 mins you Dey sub me I kill person? 😂

Nididi and Simon are Chelle boys they must play no matter what.

21 shots recorded.
11 shots on target.
4 big chances created.
3 big chances missed.

Creating chances was not our problem. We didnt stuggle in the chance creation dept at all.

Iwobi alone created 6 including a big chance.
Lookman created 2. Even Chuks created 2 including a big chance.

So chances boku today. The problem was finishing and Osimhen was the main culprit. 7 shots from him alone. Hopefully he enters "the zone" vs Tunisia come saturday.
The Tunisians wear red, so like a bull Osimhen should "charge" effectively. wink

try to filter and mention those complaining senselessly from those complaining objectively…my own take is that we should have put the game beyond reach…thank God we won and we have the 3points….but looking at how the game went, our attack did not nail those guys to their coffin….
you see what senegal did? result like theirs send fear to the next opponents
I understand the complaint Coz it wasn't an impressive performance but but atleast we can build from there

Actually, I liked that sub. The Tanzanians were dominating in the middle and he needed more numbers in the middle. With Dele Bashiru instructed to invert when we were off possession and spread out when in position. The timing was also good because we were in lead and needed control of the middle to reduce the aggressive attack of the Tanzanians.
But did it work? I doubt as the Tanzanians were all over us and would have equalised if they were more clinical

I don't think it worked though
The Tanzanians still pushed through our midfield and created many chances, heck they even scored..

I particularly didn't like the chuks sub because he and iwobi were our main play makers today

Simon came in and we lost that edge we had when Chuks was on..

All in all, I'm happy with the win

I felt the sub worked. After the changes, they stopped running riot on us and the switched of play reduced.

Simon Moses also used his play to keep the right side of the Tanzanians staying back to prevent his pressure.

I think I will give Chelle props for the changes.

Chuks and Iwobi are in form I hope our coach is aware. My fear is when we meet more physical opponents make dem no go switch off but both players were massive today and should have been on the scoresheet.

Am glad Lookman is back and Ejuke is still there at least we should cook more in the games ahead barring injury

Babatunde Akinsola will be a good addition to the SE. With an advantage of using both feet. Something Chukwueze is lacking in his game.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by mrwilliams9(m): 9:07pm On Dec 23, 2025
Overall, decent start from the SE. Created a lot of chances to have won this 3-1 or 4-1.

This formation needs another midfielder. Simple and short. I don't know what Onyedika must do to get a game, but Ndidi can't do it alone.

We may want to consider going to a back 3 to shore up that defense.

I'd like to see us with a 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2.

Midfield of Iwobi, Ndidi, and Onyedika. The front 3 of Adams, Osimhen and Lookman.

Simon was more impactful when he came on if you ask me.

Osimhen too was off colour today. Trying shots from impossible angles, poor first control, still straying offside and also moaning unnecessarily.

Final balls were poor as usual

TheSuperNerd:
Meliforme, I wanted to reply you earlier before the game began but network no gree me.

I hope you can see it was wise to keep Akinsanmiro out of the XI for now especially as he has only played 1 game in a midfield 3 and not midfield 2 and also, you cant just dump the Ndidi-Iwobi synergy built over time for a newbie no matter how talented. Chemistry should come first always before any other tactical shakeups.

Lastly, I dont see Akinsanmiro as an Iwobi Replacement. He can play alongside Iwobi but in a midfield 3. Not 2. I have said that much on X.

Alex Iwobi came to the party today. The movement of Lookman and Chukwueze across the final third gaps afforded Iwobi time to pick out his final passes and really spot the gaps to be exploited. Most chances created today. Iwobi is on a roll.

Na Ndidi we still dey wait for first SE Goal.
Synergy with Ndidi and then experience are the real reasons Iwobi can start ahead of Akin.

Yes, Akin can start alongside Iwobi in a midfield three.
Akin is not a direct replacement for Iwobi, but if we are to settle for the most ideal partner for Ndidi based on quality in a midfield two, Akin deserves the start. Iwobi can man the wings while Akin starts in the middle.

Yeah back 3 might be the way to go especially against opponents who will use the ball better.
