When Akor and Chukwueze were subbed out, Oliseh; I don't see any meaning in this substitution because you don't make such subs at this stage of the game. At this stage you need your best players in the game, not sub them out.

10 minutes later after seeing the impact of Bashir and Simon, same Oliseh; Yea, that's why they were brought in to provide width. You know...when your team is finding it difficult going through the middle, you introduce players that can play from the wing. (That's same Oliseh praising the substitution he criticised 10minutes ago)

Everything about that man disgusts me.
Oliseh is Mr know all, perfect man and reason why Mikel said he was his worst coach ever

Eric Chelle is not that coach.
I've known it from day Done. He hasn't done anything significant on the team, and he's only reliant on the individual brilliance of Osimhen and Lookman, this is why we quickly turn into Burundi whenever Osimhen is out.

I'm surprised that JPs defensive tactics are outrageously underrated. Conceding only three goals with an unbeaten run enrout the final is highly remarkable.

Here they are again with jittery defense and weak midfield under Chelle. At this point JB is better

Can you give us hints of things Oliseh said good about us before we took the 2-1 lead? He even criticized the substitution which was actually the right call made by Chelle.

Definitely, it was a brilliant tactical commentary from him but there was a tone of wanting Chelle to fail that was felt. Oliseh should refine that and try to pick what is good from both sides.
Bro, He praised the team when they did well. The very term "lateral movement" which he used so often was used to praise Akor Adams' superb movements off the ball which he noted was probably a result of Adams' training in Spain.

I also remember he praised the Super Eagles when they started to keep the ball in the closing stages, saying this is exactly what they needed to do since they already had the lead.

As for the subs, he said that Adams was our best performing striker in the game up to that point and therefore, shouldn't have been removed except he was injured. This is correct. If Chelle wanted to put sentiment aside, Osimhen should have been taken off instead of Adams, based on their game performance.

I just watched the full game- Chelle is our best coach so far, that first half performance was a thing of beauty, we should have buried that game by 4 goals in the first half but for point blank misses from Osimhen and Chukwueze. We fell off in the second half because of poor game management by the players, but still dominated Tanzania till the final whistle. We have a good team, but some players are occupying space and just wasting it (Zaidu, Osayi and Simon Moses.)

I see why lots of people were disappointed with Oliseh's commentary. Yes they were educational but there were things that worked for Chelle that Oliseh failed to mention or point out.

Like the way Chelle used the defense to keep possession and draw out the Tanzanians. The way Chelle used Ademola to form what I call an inverted pivot for fast transition from defense to attack.

Also the inverted triangle using Ndidi, Iwobi and Lookman to create chances. Oliseh didn't talk about the inversion play of Chukwueze. Yet, Oliseh was quick to wax lyrical of the tactical ideas of the Tanzanians.
Good points. But I think our people are exaggerating Oliseh's shortcomings. He did mention some positives about our games.

Remember how he waxed lyrical of Moses Simon as a "direct winger"?

Sir,no coach will take Osimhen out and leave Akor on the field in that minute.

Yeah. To get a good coach is easy. Just look at an African team that is well coached. The Tanzanian team is well coached. Get rhe coach for us. Chelle is just mediocre. 4 4 2 for 90 minutes is not really our best. We can only okay 4 4 2 for at most 60 minutes. Oliseh comments were very very accurate. We are victims of bad coaching. We are victims of bad coaching. We are victims of bad coaching. It's getting boring to say
we should get Tanzanian coach again🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣hahahahahahahaha Nairaland na Eff up place walai….same way we saw how Chelle did at last afcon we shouted get him! get him!!, now e don shit to Tanzania….
Comoros played well against Morocco, lets get their coach too
Benin played well against Drc lets go and get Rohr
Angola Played well against SA lets go and get heir coach
Zimbabwe gave Egypt a run for their money, lets go and get their coach…..

Our defensive frailties worry me. Conceding again vs Tanzania means we have not kept a clean sheet in our last four games.

vs Gabon (1) ❌
vs DR Congo (1) ❌
vs Egypt (2) ❌
vs Tanzania (1) ❌

At this point and with the absence of the reliable Benjamin Fredericks and Ola Aina, I think Chelle should just switch to a three man central defence with two wing backs; Bassey, Ajayi, Ogbu, Osayi and Zaidu.

Also, we only dominate play when the opponents pack the bus and sit back. When they become daring, come out to play and start running at us, we become jittery, nervy and lose our dominance

This team has to massively improve if we're gonna go far
The bolded is why I said yesterday that something is psychologically wrong with this team..

Jury still out on how tactically sound Chelle is. Even against Tanzania we could see his midfield 2 still kinda leaves Ndidi overworked defensively with the Captain losing several duels despite his valiant effort to hold the forte.

Iwobi was brilliant offensively and creatively. Producing even 17 final third passes but defensively, he didnt help Ndidi. He made zero tackles and few recoveries. Even a free role playing Chukwueze made more recoveries than Iwobi. Lookman made more recoveries as well despite fitting in behind Osimhen and Akor on the LHS and centrally.
Bookmark this comment Doctor, our midfied will cost us again...Yes Iwobi gave two assists but something terrible is missing in his game and that's winning ball back and this always bringing a lot of loads on Ndidi

Go and sit down. What proof do you have that Oliseh wants your grade D coach and his own national to fail?

His honest tactical analysis should be opening up your eyes to the loopholes in the team, not all these emotional uproar.

Simple!
If only Osimhen had put away those chances, same with Chuks, even Akor had a good chance in the early stages of the game..
We would have been 3:0 to 5:0 up in the first half alone..
That would have put the game to bed

If there's anyone to blame in this match, it's definitely not Chelle
Still, we take the 3 points
We will pipe Tunisia on Saturday

Commentary is not analysis. If you want to do analysis, go to the studio. Nobody wants commentary where you begin to disembowel the technical aspects of the game and blaming players and whining.

At least we have renowned commentators like Drury. Your work is to verbalize what the players are doing so that just by listening to you, people can visualize the game.

See as you write plenty just because you misconceive the main idea of what commentary is.
In most football games, there is a commentator AND an analyst. They are NOT the same. Not to engage in ad hominem, but I would have expected that someone with your level of football viewing experience and knowledge would know this basic fact.

Oliseh went there as an analyst, NOT as a commentator. And he did his job SUPERBLY.

As I noted before, Iwobi has no business in a two-man midfield except against a weak (bus packing) team.

make una calm down oo😂…in as much as i was not happy we couldn’t score more goals against Tanzania, lets just believe super eagles are not te kinda team that statpad lesser opponents to them, but we must still look at it that Tanzania(28th in africa) is not in the class of Minnows oo, they senior Botswana(42nd) that was beaten by senegal by faaaaaar oo, even Burundi the likes of Aina,Ighalo etc struggle to beat in the 1-0 opener of afcon 2019….in 2013 we had no business drawing Burkina faso 1-1 in that opening game, them no b our mate, we suppose flog them

yes naaa, we really knocking the door of their defense back to back yesterday….That rounding dribble by Akor in the first half was suppose to be a clean goal, that beating of the keeper by Osimhen that was later cleared to corner kick would have been a clean goal, that dribbling by Chukwu in the box 18 with a last touch on the ball going into the net by the defender would have been a clean goal, that Iwobi strike in the box 18 should be a goal, that chest down control and passing to Lookman by Osimhen suppose tear net…we suppose beat those guys with theese neat scoring chances

Chelle has more win ratios than your previous recent coaches since Rohr, football is a result-oriented game and Chelle is yet to lose a game in regular time (I don't count the DRC game as a loss cause we lost on PK), you and I might not like his coaching style, but stats favor him so far.

Chelle is a very mediocre coach. After this nations cup, tge coach of Tanzania should be contacted. He should have nought in frank oyeka to help in midfield and relieve iwobi. I the Tanzanian coach seems tactically better than him. This match is very similar to nigeria vs zimbabwe. Same things. Thin midfield being exploited by the opponents. We are victims of poor coaching that is all.

Who else noticed that Calvin Bassey has transformed into an elite defender in the world, I can bet on it, this guy is better than all the defenders in Manchester united, Chelsea, Liverpool and to an extent Manchester city

I have this feeling that Calvin Bassey will be priced out of Fulham next season. I kinda enjoy watching him play

Never gonna lie, I was impressed by the SE game yesterday. Iwobi with two assists, I hope he maintains this form throughout the tournament cos it's going to be a huge, huge plus for us considering his role in the team.
You can have world top strikes but if you don't have a lethal AM to push the ball to the final third, you're already losing by 1 goal.

We will decide that against a formidable forward like Tunisia. And the fate of Nwabali will be sealed in that game. That their squad is something else. 👌
