What do you think of this lineup against Uganda?
Osimhen, Lookman and Adam are already creating a good understanding between them in attack, the 3 of them should start but later replaced highest 60mins in the second half.
Iwobi has been working well for the team and it's nice he starts in this match alongside the forward players.

Uzoho

Alebiosu
Igoh
Bassey
Bruno

Ndidi
Akinsamero/Nnadi
Iwobi

Adam
Osimhen
Lookman

I no like Uzoho, but to be fair to him, watching his last four games for Omonia, he has been good.

His reflexes are now sharper than this version of Nwabali we have on our hands now, like far sharper.

His problem before was confidence and anticipation, I don't know if he has worked on that. If he has, then he's better than current Nwabali. Even his ball distribution now is good. Judging by his last 4 games ooooo, 2 in the Conference League and 2 in the Cypriot League. He's even one of the highest rated keepers in the Conference League.
My major challenge with uzoho is that he is more likely to punch a ball that catch it
And his punches can gift goal scoring opportunities to opponents..

Even in the UECL clips where they said he did well, he punched 5-6 balls before he caught 1..
And that has cost us before..

Nevertheless, he deserves an opportunity if Nwabali cannot start our next game

im still wondering why Osimhen’s first goals was ruled offside….go and watch Aubameyang’s goal vs Mozambique…its just same goal from a rebound shot, where Aubameyang was already waiting in same position where Osimhen stayed to latch on to a shot

I am yet to watch the Uzoho of recent, but I must say that Nwabali's reflexes are very mature.
Nwabali's is important and vital to our play building from the back.
Nwabali's composure exudes confidence the kind that ripples throughout the defense.

Can Uzoho help build play from the back.
What is his level of aquaintance with Eric Chelle's philosophy and methods.

Uzoho returns at the right time to terminate our Afcon hopes. So long my brothers.

Terminate how?
We are already through to the next round
If uzoho plays against Uganda, Nwabali returns for our next game..

Our AFCON hopes are still as strong as ever

The defenders should be under very strict instructions not to pass to Uzoho
His passing game is still not up to par
But his reflexes and shot stopping have improved..

I'm just concerned that he's more likely to punch a ball than catch it

Not related to my above post, but who has noticed that only Iwobi in our squad knows how to calculate Osimhen's run and give him a pass when he's not offside?

The thing no hard, Osimhen has mad level of both acceleration and speed, he's one of the fastest center forwards in the world, if not the fastest. Watch Iwobi's through-passes to him, he let the defend be ahead of Osimhen a little, let Osimhen turn to start his run, then he releases the ball past the side of the defender for Osimhen to run up to it and twice in this AFCON, it has been perfect. None of those defenders fast reach Osimhen, but other players will wait for Osimhen to start running and before they pass the ball, he has marginally or even by a mile run into an offside position.
That Iwobi pass too wickedt. Yes wickedt with a T.

Nwabali has been doing this consistently for the past few games. Go and watch the highlights.

We all know Nwabali hasn't been himself for sometime
That's why there's been a strong call for okoye to replace him..
Unfortunately Okoye had other ideas

Doc Nwakali no drop 2 assists for single game o. Pre-assist sef him no drop.

Not disparaging your observations on Iwobi just saying if ideally I can't get much out of him defensively I would rather he continue to be more effective higher up the pitch.

TheSuperNerd:
He is not expected to drop Kante stats defensively. Not even close. But he should contribute decent defensive output.
This was the same case/angle made against K.Nwakali during his Afcon debut at Afcon 2021 when he paired Ndidi so why the flip on Iwobi? Nwakali was brilliant offensively and creatively and put out better chance creation numbers than our other midfielders but was constantly knocked for his defensive lapses. Same but even worse is showing at this afcon with Iwobi defensively.

He needs to step up a bit in that department while executing his primary duties. Afterall, it is not in every transtion that he is creating.

Looks fine but Lookman should absolutely be rested.

Onyedika also for Ndidi Partnering Ebenezer. Fisayo just behind the front 3.

We shouldn't underestimate Uganda cause they'll also be looking to qualify as a third placed best though we'll still top the group even with a loss I think
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m):
Does this negate the point that he created the most big chances among our midfielders at the 2021 edition? If no one converts big chances or keypasses, would there be assists? Did anyone then agree it is not his primary duty to defend? He was villified for it (defensive lapse) and his creative game ignored.

But now we must focus only on the good Iwobi gives offensively while ignoring his defensive lapses that needs improvement for the betterment of our team's defensive transitions? I think not.

Could we just bring Kelechi back?

I think Chelle prefers Awaziem to Ogbu and in the midfield, Fisayo or Onyedika are probably likely to start ahead of Ebenezer. Also tallest would be ahead of Dessers.

Egypt using their second team against Angola. I hope Nigeria follows suit. What ruined us in the last AFCON was over reliance on the same players till the dying second.

It ruined us indeed. We had players who were exhausted and players who had had no game time at all.

That's football for you, results are the ultimate.

Iwobi will for now get a pass from me as long as he continues contributing significantly to the team's offense.

That is not football for you. That is Hypocrisy for you. If results mattered alone, some of us wont point out Chelle's error in the Tunisia game. We would say since he bagged the 3pts, then all was perfect.

For me, it would be best for Chelle to communicate this defensive lapse observation to Iwobi in order to make us much more unplayable and near impenetrable through the middle. Keep executing your primary duty of creating and offensively orchestrating the plays but kindly join in defending too when we are out of possession and transitioning to defence. Chikena.

Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle shares what it means to him coaching Nigeria.

"When I took this Super Eagles job, I entered another level. At every moment, everyday, I feel the pressure.
I try every time to do my best, like the player on the pitch. I am very proud to work for this nation." Chelle said.
