The following are the greatest mistakes of our time:

1. Nnamdi Azikiwe (Prevented referendum)
2. Nzeogu (Led the first coup, killed other regions leaders except the igbos)
3. Aguiyi Ironsi (Destroyed regional government)
4. Ojukwu (Led the first ever civil war, creating distrust)

These people collectively by their sequential actions created the problems we face today

Tinubu till 2031.

Actions of Azikiwe, Kaduna Nzeogwu, Ojukwu and now Kanu contributed for Igbo hatred.

Azikiwe made sure he frustrated Awolowo, by forming alliance with north.(Yoruba hatred)

Nzeogwu killed many Hausa and Fulani elites, in first coup, (Hausa hatred)

Ojukwu led civil war (whole Nigeria hatred)

Kanu insulting Nigeria (whole Nigeria hatred)
So those guys you mentioned are the reason Nigeria is a shit hole today right?

Re: How British Colonial Policies Entrenched Lifelong Discrimination Against Igbos by Goosethetruth(m): 4:39pm On Dec 29, 2025
This is another lamentation epistle filled with false propaganda while playing the victim as usual.

1. Was it the British that made the Ibo sell their people to the Europeans as slaves in order to take up ozo titles?

2. The Aba riots of 1929 have been historically proven to have been carried out by Efik and Ibibio women of Cross River/Akwa Ibom extraction although it took place in Aba however the riots were not conducted by Ibo women.

3. In 1949 Nnamdi Azikiwe started a false narrative at Aba,that Ibos were created specifically to rule and dominate every tribe in Africa. This narrative was aggressively pursued in his newspaper,'The West African Pilot.'
4. During the 1950s constitutional conference in London Chief Awolowo spent a whole day arguing for the inclusion of a REFERENDUM CLAUSE in the Nigeria constitution but was vehemently opposed and upstaged by Nnamdi Azikiwe who was blinded to the future and mischievously believed his own hype that,THE IBO WERE MEANT TO DOMIMATE AND SUBJUGATE ALL TRIBES IN AFRICA.

5. In January 1966,When Azikiwe realised that he held a none executive ceremonial Presidency in his hands he began to instigate Ibo military officers to carry out coup against the government of prime minister Tafawa Balewa. This led to the January 15th 1966 one sided Ibo military coup in which the Ibo officers decimated the military and political class of all other tribes except the Ibo leaders. As such Michael Okpara,Odumegwu Ojukwu and Ignatius Ironsi were spared. Ironsi went on to emerge as the head of State after the coup and mischievously refused to punish or put on trial the Ibo instigators of the one sided coup.

6. It was this same Ignatius Ironsi that promulgated Decree 34 of 1966 that abolished true Regional government in all the four regions and centralised government under a Unitary government. Ironsi was an Ibo man.

7. The false narrative of £20 pounds given to the Ibo after the civil war has been repudiated severally. Before the war broke out in 1967 the Ibo withdrew all their monies in Nigeria banks and some sold off their properties before retreating to Biafra. After their crushing defeat at the end of the was it was a great magnanimous gesture by General Gowon to even give each male £20 to restart life. They were lucky the government of Gowon did not place reparations on them but declared no victor and no vanquished policy.

8. The Ibo also give a false narrative of the number of Ibo casualities of the civil war. The truth is that there were deaths on both sides of the divide and the Biafran's were more genocidal towards the minority tribes in the rebel enclave. Tales of the atrocities carried out by Biafra in Port Harcourt,Calabar and Uyo are legendary but have been deliberately down played by the usual propaganda.

9. The starvation and kwarshiokor propaganda is another false narrative pushed by Biafra when in actual fact that it was Ojukwu's rable army that requisitioned all forms of food for themselves first and left the scraps for the civillian population.

10. In the 2020's, Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa have waged treason against all Nigerians and got their just punishment.

11. In between all this the Ibo have produced an executive Vice President in Alex Ekwueme in 1979. They have produced NUMEROUS senate Presidents in Okadigbo,Anyim,Enwerem,Wabara,Nnamani and even Orizu in the first Republic.

12. The convicted Ije Ekweremadu served severally as deputy senate president from 2007-2019.

13. In the present government there is Bianca Ojukwu,David Umahi,Nkiru Onyejiocha, and so many others as ministers yet they are never satisfied.

14. This victim hood and eternal wailing is just irritating and exasperating. Reach across to other tribes if you desire the Presidency. On the other hand if you want Biafra it is better that your governors, ministers, representatives and members of State assembles come together to start a process of inserting referendum (which Azikiwe opposed in the 1950s) into the constitution in order to get Biafra you desire. You can't have your cake and eat it!

I will like the author to answer thse simple questions:

1. Why did Nnamdi Azikiwe of NCNC choose to play second fiddle to NPN when he could obviously have a better deal with Awolowo's AG to form National Government?

2. Why did Azikiwe (South East) and his group support a Unitary Government when the Ahmadu Bello (North) and Awolowo (Southwest) supported Federalism (an arrangement where the Regions are stronger than the Fderal center)? Note that if Nigeria has been a loose Federalism system as the North wanted, it would have been very easy for South East to pull out and become Biafra without bloodshed.

3. Why did Aguiyi Ironsi (a South Easterner) pursue Unitary Government through decrees once he attained power, which led to the current mess we found ourselves?

4..How did Azikiwe conveniently escaped the first coup by traveling out?

5. Why did Azikiwe secretly offer to support Aguiyi Ironsi's Government in any role given to him despite thr fact that same displaced the government in which Azikiwe was the President?

I am not trying to absolve the British of their own role as colonial masters after their own interests. However, I am tried of the Igbo blaming everyone but themselves.

And what is your understanding of separation ?

I think you people keep doing the mistake of mixing up separation with repatriation....

It doesn't happen like that, are Nigerians not in Ghana and almost every country in the world?

Even countries that separated still have their citizens living in both countries, you think if Nigeria divides today then the Igbos will pack their load and start going to the east?

It doesn't work like that, as long as they are citizens of west Africa, they will continue living and doing business where ever they are just like Nigerians in Ghana, Togo and so on.

So yes I believe more than 90% of Igbos dont want to be Nigerian citizens...

Exactly, especially the ekumeku war that lasted for over 31 years from 1881 to 1914 with the British army where they lost many soldiers and officers to Igbo warriors.
The British empire swore never to ever forgive the Igbo for daring to stand up against the British empire.

This is why every Igbo person anywhere in the world carry themselves with pride and honor. Our ancestors fought subjugation, humiliation and enslavement when others submitted easily.

Ok, let's even assume everything you said here is true, why haven't the Yorubas and the notherners corrected all these errors after over 50 years of ruling Nigeria without the Igbo's?

Is it that you people are enjoying the errors of an Igbo man or just simply not intelligent or smart enough to correct those errors?

The North unexpectedly took advantage of the Unitary Government birthed by Ironsi and expanded upon it. But are you saying that the Igbo have been politically absent in the last 50 years? Was Alex Ekwueme not the Vice President to Shagari? Have Igbos not been Senators, Senate Presidents and Governors?

This guy and his rubbish and poorly researched musings again.

The British left an Igbo President, igbó laden officer cadet in the army and an Igbo federal cabinet.

They also left a regional structure that had one of the regions effectively ruled by Ndigbo.

What more did Ndigbo want?

The north took advantage of it? Only the north ? grin

So OBJ is now a northerner?

Secondly all the people and positions you mentioned didnt have absolute power if not you should have also included Osinbajo to take the blame like Alex Ekwueme....

The VP position is only limited to whatever power the president gives him if not Osibanjo would have been blamed with Buhari for bad governance...

So what exactly is your point?

You don't blame a tribe for the selfishness of one. Zik felt he has given so much for independence and did everything possible to come out tops including an alliance with the north.

Nzeogwu was given an officers funeral even during the war because officers close to him knew him to be a true patriot. His mistake was trusting ifeajuna and joining a coup that was never his.
