This is exactly what I was trying to explain to a very wealthy friend, some fund managers are like our politicians, what you get is different from what they promised during elections.

The rates of some fund managers does not always correlate with what they often pay into your account, I don't want to discredit any fund manager...

Trustbanc and Norrenberger fund managers are the best at the moment, e get why... It is not just about their competitive rates, you get exactly what you are supposed to get or according to their daily accrued interest.
Politician asset managers grin grin grin

Name them

FirstAlly here and there. The many mentions sound strange.

Just sharing my observation.

There is nothing strange about them. This is the time folks here just discovered them, and it's good to have variety. They are SEC-regulated asset management company.
I posted here how to check for a genuine Asset management company registered with the SEC. Use the code as described; that is how to confirm a SEC-regulated company, not by popularity or otherwise.

Re: Mutual Funds by Oyibopepe2000: 11:56pm On Dec 29, 2025
So in order words. Does it mean that if I withdraw my mmf capital from any of the fund managers app say firstAlly into my bank account it won't be taxed?
Pls I need an urgent reply anyone. Thanks

Preator:
It may be nice to move the funds b4 the close of the year.

However, only income( earned via sales of goods, chargeable assets or rendering services are taxed). So your movement of fund is not taxable. It may however be questioned if sizeable. You Will need to prove it is not a taxable income ( mmf returns have already suffered 10% wht deducted at source by your fund manager).

TL:DR: move before year end to avoid explanations but it is not taxable

I complained about Stanbic IBTC MMF rate to my Relationship Manager yesterday and he promised that they would do something about it. I told him that many investors are ready and pushing to dump them.

I just checked now and it's jumped to 17.02%. I was wondering if we needed to complain before the right thing is done. Let's hope this is sustainable.

Thanks
Re: Mutual Funds by Nobody: 1:39am On Dec 30, 2025
CardinalStone's MMF today is 25.45%. Yesterday, it was 15.33%. I don't always understand the MMF rate.

A new account constantly posting about a company is definitely suspicious.

This is just my own observation. If it turns out they're a good platform and better than Stanbic and Norrenberger, then I'd definitely try them out.

Lol, choosing a fund manager is up to the individual. We are all here to learn and diversify our investment. I knew all the fund managers through Nairaland and decided to go with the best ones.

From 15.68

I don't really know the problem with STANBIC ibtc although it seems they have the most customer for MMF which makes them to be misbehaving lately. You see 18+ from some other reputable firm while STANBIC is doing 15.68%

Funny people

I just posted how to clear your doubt about a fund manager. By the way First Ally may be new here that doesn't actually make it new.
As an investor you are required to do your unbiased due diligence and go with what you are comfortable with.
As old as stanbic, some folks got to know about them on this thread.
Apart from rate, investors have other reasons they go with a particular fund manager it depends on priority and not trial and error kind of approach.

Read some pages backward from this current page you will get some things clearer.

I come in peace!

I
emmasoft:
It's not necessary based on the underlying asset. There is a reason MMF is qualified as a low-risk investment. Don't try to ascribe any risk beyond its status to it. Having insurance on MMF is like having insurance on Tbills. We should not use a sledgehammer to kill mosquitoes.

Your money in MMF is not cash, and the full weight of the Federal government backs the major underlying asset. Even if your suggestion is applied, it will only reduce the return further without added value.

It's okay. I believe you have seen the code as stated in my post here. I was thinking I would be banned if I dropped the code here; that is why I sent the mail.

Thank you for using the code to help my ministry.

Now stanbic rate is now looking ludicrous. 15.73%?
Move your funds to the Stanbic IBTC Nigerian Equity fund, this year alone it has done over 63% YTD. Read about the history and past performance of the fund.
Re: Mutual Funds by Nobody: 2:22pm On Dec 30, 2025
On January 2nd, TrustBanc will distribute its dividend.

I hope you're aware that MMF and equity funds are fundamentally different. They are two different things, even though they are both mutual funds. The operation and returns are not the same. MMF guaranteed return of capital and varied returns on capital, for an equity fund, nothing is guaranteed for capital or returns.

Before making such moves, be sure you know your risk appetite because the saying remains true - the higher the returns, the higher the risk.
You may not need to monitor MMF, but an equity fund requires close monitoring of the equity market because the underlying assets are purely equities.

However, that is not to say an equity fund is a bad investment; it depends on the investor's investment objective and risk tolerance, among other factors.
Re: Mutual Funds by Donbrig: 4:14pm On Dec 30, 2025
All the fund managers are doing well, just that I trust the integrity of some fund managers more than some... I will always go with Norrenberger and TrustBanc anytime, anyday...

Stanbic fund managers for example, they had to wait for investors to complain about the low rate before they increased rate. We know that the main aim of all fund managers is to make huge profits, but some fund managers are more transparent than some...

Stanbic ibtc had made far more than the 15%-16% they were giving investors for weeks, with over 2 trillion under their management, now imagine how many billions they have made by reducing rates with almost 3+% for weeks.

But some fund managers won't be too greedy to short-change investors like that...

I am happy we now have so many fund managers in the industry and the competition is tensed, unlike few years ago when we had very few players in the industry.

The job of SEC is to ensure investors don't lose their capital and mandate fund managers to invest in their various certified instruments, however, SEC cannot prevent fund managers from short-changing investors, because that is another ball game entirely, if you know you know..

You can try the CardinalStone Equity fund; I've made more than my MMF; however, the market is volatile and unstable.
