Playing Onuachu and Osimhen upfront was quite an experiment. Surprisingly, Onuachu was the one who dropped deep at times whilst Osimhen occupied the centre halves.

Onuachu was massively impressive today especially his link up play with the midfield

Ryan Alebiosi is ready to battle any of our RB including Aina. Man's got Good runs (watching him blnd so quick with Chukwueze, good on the ball and attacking minded. and positioning
6/10 for a first timer.. Wishing him fast recovery

🇳🇬 Nigeria have scored 8 goals in an AFCON group stage for the first time ever!

All-time AFCON Top Scorers:
🇪🇬 Egypt: 178
🇨🇮 Côte d'Ivoire: 154
🇳🇬 Nigeria: 154

the goals would have been more if SE played that match as if their life depended on it, a team that received a red card should receive serious beating

I think Alebiosu was decent but we must take the opposition into context. He seemed ready to join the attack and cross balls too.
Nnadi only got a few minutes but he was quite comfortable with the ball and looked promising.

Ndidi onyedika double pivot pairing may not be bad..
Many of us have been screaming for that. With Iwobi playing slightly higher up

Good win from the boys and in particular Onyedika. Want to see more of him moving forward.

I’d have liked Chelle to have given more minutes to the younger/newer folks.

The moment we went 3-0 up we should have seen the likes of Dessers, Fago, Nnadi, Ebenezer etc

Defensive lapses still haunt us. Hope we tighten it up for the KOs. We have everything to win this AFCON.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 3:05am On Dec 31, 2025
One of the main differences between Nigeria's Perfect Group Stage run back at the 2021 Afcon in Cameroun and this one in Morocco 2025 is:

🔮 The Afcon 2021 team relied heavily on Moses Simon. He was the main man in that Eguavoen team and key to the monotonous long balls plan executed constantly from the CBs. Mark him closely and it was all over.
But this Morocco 2025 team under Chelle has more than one dangerman to rely on.

The starting midfield (Ndidi-Onyeka-Iwobi) of this Chelle team is also stronger than the starting midfield (Aribo-Ndidi) Eguaovoen paraded.

The history of Afcon 2021 will not repeat itself. This Super Eagles team is going far in Morocco.

Also, the Uganda game is the first time in a very long while that saw Calvin Bassey not finishing a game. It is a rare sight to see him subbed out. It happened finally yesterday as Chelle rightly wanted to rotate the squad, keep other options warm while preserving the bulk of his first XI soldiers for the KOs.

Chukwueze give me the ball, proper baller...

No wonder all the players celebrated with him tapping his head. Hehehe

joelsteron:
I was a little boy the last time Nigeria had a midfield with an eye for goals and precise shooting

Solace na madman when dey use oyinbo English confuse himself.
Mujtahida:
That Solace is a chronic pessimist who is always criticizing the coach, the players and everyone else.

So I'm not surprised at him criticizing Awaziem. I'm certain if you go through his post today, you will not find him praising any of our players even after such a commanding performance.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie:
i want to say:

1. Awaziem has no business in the team except when he is introduced to add more defensive cover when we want to manage the game.
2. I am not comfortable with Chelle's game management. We should not be conceding a goal when we are playing a man up versus any team except that team is clearly a superior side.
3. It does seem we have the midfield personnel to make our team unbeatable. We just need to find the right player combination of course depending on the game strategy.
4. Ogbu, Onuachu for me can be starters in this team.
5. Chukwueze should be starting if he will be consistent.

Osimhen selflessness in this tournament needs to be studied. We all complain about his temperament on the field while some even question his leadership qualities if he would be worthy to be a captain. Fast forward today, he was made captain and I see him being the coolest ever. Selfless, calm and impactful. A top professional

Hmmm, come see comments here on Onyedika and Bashiru before the kick off as if Iwobi,Ndidi and Onyeka are Iniesta,Xavi and Basquet...getting real performance in the middle Onyedika is the man or else we get knockout as competition progresses.

Besides the goals sef.. Very composed player. The good thing is they all bring something different. So when necessary subs can be made to switch up play.
