The only problem is that after building Lagos, the Lagos people gave him a bloody nose and choosed Peter Obi.

Don't you think Lagos people were smart?

The pace of rescue effort is too slow
Too low or very poor. Fire dept just dey collect free money. It's high time 2 fire stations were cited on the lagos island as the situation has now become a yearly affair. This is so sad. Great Nigeria house is one of our heritage in lagos. May the souls of the victims RIP. Some deaths are avoidable in Nigeria. Government is only fond of collecting tax, especially here in lagos without doing enough to secure the lives of taxpayers. Na so-so noise and propaganda.

Jeez! God rests the souls of the victims. Imagine a 22 storey building not having fire control measures & emergency response utilities?

These are avoidable disasters especially structural fires in tight places like the Marina. For the building to collapse means the structural integrity has long been compromised.
To tell you the truth, the last time I enter that building, it looks like an abandoned and uncompleted building. And this was over 15yrs ago. And driving past it recently, it looks like a shadow of itself. So how do you expect such building to have emergency response utilities

I drove past 3rd mainland bridge on Saturday, the building was still standing but was smoldering, belching out smoke, that means it must have collapsed between Saturday and today. There is no building that will be on fire for so long that will not get structurally compromised, no matter how well built. Infact that building must have been structurally sound for it to stand for this long. Don't forget buildings from back in the day when naija was still good were built properly and by renowned construction companies.

That market even looks over congested for that kind of building.
Government should decongestant Lagos and open up other states and markets.

Here is where Ambode will be missed, that man spent money on Lagos state emergency services. He equipped them, got foreigners to train officials, we even had white dudes working with the emergency teams training on all scenarios.

She is very correct...a building also collapsed halfway, the priority should be to attend to sites where there are chances of people surviving...and not entering the burnt building to bring out dead bodies... The building is burnt, no living thing is there, why not attend to the site where people are trapped ? This is what you get when illiterates are in power

These are the kind of scene that Tinubu should rather pay more attention to than Anthony Joshua's.And l am not saying that Anthony isn't important but incidents happening to Nigerians on regular basis should have much priority and shouldn't be overlooked.

I understand the building was constructed with brick, and brick is known for being highly fire-resistant. Before any decision is made to demolish it, the structure should be evaluated by qualified structural engineers to determine its true integrity after the fire. This isn’t like many modern buildings — it was built over 50 years ago by experienced professionals — so a proper structural assessment is essential before deciding its fate.

may the people that lost their means of livelihood recover from this great loss ... its sad !
They were so fast to announce the destruction the building than they were to announce the completion of rescue mission.

I smell a rat.

SixSeven:
I am thinking along this line too. How did the committee quickly make this assessment to take the building down and why will a fire cause the building to be brought down? We need the media to look into this and let's hear what experts have to say. It does not make sense that the fire will cause a 25-storey building to be destroyed. Why is destruction and demolition our next line of action. What happened to reconstruction and repair. I don't want to believe that when they were building it, they did not think about fire. Also, there is no smoke without fire. If the building is brought down, the investigation is over. WHAT STARTED THE FIREhuh

Abroad that they like to copy, they will investigate this fire to rule out arson and someone trying to cash out from a fire.

Whoever is responsible for arson is heartless and wicked because I have a feeling this cases of annual fire outage in balogun market is very intentional. They're nit accidents because accidents don't happen annually at night and in December all the time

And those maniacs who are responsible for that evil act too will go for cross over night amd be forming good Christian
Instead make you calm down and make findings; you are here vertuberating like a wounded cheetah. The fire outbreak is from a lister generator working in the building. How can they put lister generator inside such building, and if government should raid that building, people like you will still comment that they are targeting ibo businesses.

Does it mean that we don’t have fire service in this country and other workers meant for a situation like this?
Even if fire service missed the first day, is one day not enough to fetch water and get fully equipped?

I have seen news of such happening in other countries and also the effort their various governments put to ensure the safety of their people even their news stations and journalists will be pushing them to the world but ours, I found them so unserious about this.

If government can not rescue people being trapped in a place that is not inside forest or cave but on a major road/street… Meen all men for theirselves in this country.

Be looking for who to be blame again this year. Preliminary findings showed this latest disaster was caused by a lister generator in the building. You are there looking for govt officials to blame as usual.
