The Part Of HIV Care We Don’t Talk About Enough: "Privacy" by RetroviralS(op): 7:55am On Dec 17, 2025
Most young people my age worry about grades, jobs, or relationships.

I worry about who might see me when I go to get my medication.

As an AYPLHIV (Adolescent/Young Person Living with HIV), the fear isn’t always about the drugs themselves. It’s about being seen. Being recognized. Being asked questions you’re not ready to answer.

For many of us, privacy means everything.

Some people delay refills because they’re scared of meeting someone they know at a clinic. Others avoid certain centers entirely because they don’t want their status to become a conversation. A few travel far from home just to remain anonymous.

Living should not come with that kind of fear.

I’ve been fortunate in some ways, but I know how heavy this burden is for many AYPLHIV. The constant need to protect your identity. The anxiety that comes with every visit. The exhaustion of always having to explain yourself or hide. This is why discretion matters.

At Retroviral Solutions, we understand that not everyone wants to be known. Not everyone wants to talk. Some people just want their medication, their privacy, and the peace of mind that comes with knowing they are safe.

And we respect that.

We provide antiretroviral medications discreetly. With no exposure. No unnecessary questions. No judgment. For those who need it, we also offer quiet, respectful consultations — on your terms, at your pace.

Because access should never cost you your dignity.

There’s a kind of relief in being able to live without fear of being identified. In knowing you can take care of your health without worrying about who is watching.

That’s why organizations like Retroviral Solutions matter. Not just because we provide medication, but because we protect privacy. We protect trust. We protect lives.

If this were your story, what would make you feel safest when accessing care?

Let’s talk, quietly, respectfully, and on your terms.

The fear HIV had in the late 80s to 90s is no more and it is because more people are educated and there is more research on it. Nigerians are not afraid today as they were in the past.

I hope you know early HIV/AIDS cases in the 1980s in the U.S. were first identified among gay men, which is why it was initially associated with them but they found a convenient way to bring it to Africa chimpanzees to fit their narrative 🤡

If there's a way to monetize it... I think that it would be a great idea to develop/maintain an app meant for people living with HIV/AIDs that would help with:

1. Medication reminders and documentation of adherence.
2. Online ordering and confidential home delivery of ARVs.
3. Reminders for check-ups and the ability to contact doctors directly.
4. A peer networking section for users to share experiences.

How to monetize it is my major concern...

Monthly/annual subscription..

OP, would the users be ready to part with some cash for subscription every month or annually?

There is controversy as to whether a virus is to be classified as a living thing or a non living thing. A virus is a protein coat enclosing a strand of DNA or RNA

But this living or non living thing has defeated the highest levels of human intelligence. HIV is more intelligent than all the scientists and leadership of the whole world.

Shame on the highest levels of intelligence and leadership.

A living thing is anything that can multiply and grow. So a virus despite being a protein in a DNA or RNA capsule can grow and multiply parasitically

Privacy/Disclosure
You have the right to privacy and it is the responsibility of your doctor to ensure that your medical records are protected and can only be shared based on your consent.
A logistics company trying to step in to ease the supply of prescribed antiretroviral drugs to users is a good idea, hopefully it would be affordable and won’t prey on people’s insecurity/vulnerability.

This is why most people from SE turn to Benue and River for their medication, thus scaling up the figures in those states. My relative that is a medical doctor in Makurdi told be me this.

AIDS was formerly known as GRIDS (Gay Related Immune Deficiency Syndrome) until Faucci changed it to AIDS and said it is a disease spread primarily from heterosexual sex .

GRIDS or AIDS is still a disease endemic to Homosexuals.

South Africa has one of the highest cases because most men there are homosexuals or bisexuals.

Bisexual men are responsible for spreading it to women.

Women have a 98% chance of contracting AIDS from an infected male partner.

Men have a very low chance of contracting the virus from an infected woman - less than 0.2% and this is usually were the vagina has open sores or having her period.

A male contracting the virus through heterosexual sex is rare but although not impossible.

Homosexual sex still remains the most easier path to an infection especially for homosexual bottoms.

Sperm is a natural immune suppressant. Without this property , women won't be able to keep a pregnancy as her immune system will naturally expel the conceived foetus.

Women who have multiple male partners regularly find it very hard to conceive as exposure to different sperm cells from.different men will force a miscarriage - another pointer that women were created to be monogamous.

Now imagine a man who is supposed to have no business with another man's Sperm getting sperm from multiple male partners dumped up his ass. And knowing that gay men especially the bottoms are the most promiscuous creatures on earth having up to hundred random partners a month and you will understand why gay men especially bottoms always get the virus .

There is a trial of automated dispensary for ARV medications in some countries to solve the problem of stigma and give privacy to people living with the virus.

No matter how robust HIV patients' care is packaged , abstinence is the panacea. My mentee cries everyday cos of the costly mistake she made by allowing a guy sleep with her without protection. He contracted the virus while living in the Philippines and he was quite aware of it. Human heats are so wicked.

Now she's saying she'd never marry in her life, even though she can still live a normal life with the virus. But that's the kind of life she's chosen to live. She now hates men with passion. She complains how harsh the ARVs can be, when administered in her system. Trauma is unexplainable, always crying in her closet. The idiot who infected her returned to the Philippines, thereafter.

This is a very heavy reality that many people choose to ignore. In our society, the stigma is often more painful than the health condition itself. It’s sad that someone would risk their health by skipping refills just to avoid the 'eyes' of the public.
Privacy isn't just a preference; for many, it's a survival mechanism. Thank you for highlighting that dignity should be part of healthcare. If more centers prioritized this level of discretion, we would see much better adherence to treatment. Everyone deserves to manage their health without fear of judgment.

Nothing destroys lives faster than stigma—whether it comes from others or from within ourselves. The fear of being identified as a Person Living with HIV (PLHIV) often convinces us that disclosure equals rejection, shame, or the end of life. But that fear is built on myths, not truth.
HIV is a manageable medical condition, just like COVID-19, diabetes, or hypertension. With proper treatment, people living with HIV live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives. The real danger is not the virus—it’s the silence, the shame, and the self-imposed prison stigma creates.
When we confront stigma, seek treatment, and choose knowledge over fear, HIV loses its power over our lives. Break the stigma, embrace care, and you’ll realize that HIV is not a death sentence—it’s a journey that can be walked with strength, dignity, and hope.
