FROM BARRACK BOYS TO GENERALS: PROUD SONS OF A RETIRED MASTER WARRANT OFFICER IN THE NIGERIAN ARMY INSPIRING STORY FROM ENUGU STATE!
Meet the remarkable brothers Major General Valentine Uzochukwu Okoro and Major General Evaristus Ifeanyi Okoro from Igugu community, Udenu LGA.

They were true barrack boys who grew up as sons of a retired Master Warrant Officer and respected community leader. Raised in the disciplined environment of military barracks, they imbibed values of hard work, patriotism, and excellence from a young age. Today, through sheer dedication and outstanding service, both are Major General in the Nigeria Army.

Maj Gen Valentine Uzochukwu Okoro: A seasoned commander who previously led Nigeria's two largest and most prestigious divisions – GOC 1 Division (Kaduna) and GOC 2 Division (Ibadan). His leadership focused on troop welfare, professionalism, and operational success.

Maj Gen Evaristus Ifeanyi Okoro: Currently serving as the Military Secretary (Army), a powerful administrative role overseeing personnel matters for the entire Nigerian Army.

These brothers' journeys from humble barracks roots to the pinnacle of military leadership show what's possible with determination and integrity.

They continue to serve actively, inspiring countless young Nigerians, especially barrack boys to dream big and serve the nation.

This is a very proud and remarkable feat for a man especially an NCO in the army producing 2 children that climbed up to the general rank cadre. Congratulations generals. You were a big consolation to your dad who must have likely been a 63 NA personnel.

Recall a thread where Major General V T Okoro visited his RSM when he was a young officer just joining the job. It was a rare act of humility by a senior military officer.

They achieved this in 'a disgraced country'. They achieved this in the 'zoo'. Let's be mindful of the negative names we call our country.

Some consider 69 NA as some of the best NCOs nigeria ever produced
They liberated Kano to Yola to Maiduguri from Maitasine, they liberated Liberia and freed Sierra Leone. They kept peace in the land

Keep quiet dude

While it's possible they might have got in on their father's references there's no reality, no world where they will get that far without consistently delivering the goods

Awesome!
Their Dad will be so proud of them.

There are some siblings from same parents who are top Senior Nigerian Army officers that I know too. Those brothers are not in the media limelight though so I believe there are others as well.

That's because Man Know Man doesn't occur with Igbos as much as it does among hausa/Fulanis.

"Raised in the disciplined environment of the military barracks" that's a fat lie. Military barracks are some of the worst environments to raise a child.

The 69 NA are also a brave generation too but the 63NA bear the full brunt of the horrible days of the Nigerian army.
