Tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have escalated as senior party leaders have issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu over the conduct of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State. Amid renewed hostilities between Wike and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, APC leaders say Wike’s political manoeuvres are endangering party cohesion and could force a showdown with the Presidency. A member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), speaking anonymously to The Guardian, said the party may soon demand that President Tinubu make a choice between the party and the FCT minister. “We may ask the President to choose between us and his FCT minister if Wike continues to behave as if only he can serve the political interests of the President in Rivers State or any other state for that matter. He is not a member of this party,” the source said. This latest warning follows Wike’s declaration that Governor Fubara would not return for a second term in 2027, a statement that has sparked outrage among APC loyalists, especially in Rivers State. Party strategists argue that the APC cannot afford to let Wike, a minister not formally registered with the party, sabotage the President’s interests in the oil-rich state ahead of the 2027 general elections. Olafeso: Wike Now Isolated In APC Former PDP National Vice Chairman (South-West), Eddy Olafeso, described Wike’s current political situation as a consequence of being outpaced by Fubara, who he said swiftly aligned with the APC before his former boss could. Speaking in an interview with The Guardian, Olafeso said Wike is probably the most unfortunate politician in the history of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. He said the Rivers State governor played politics faster than the minister by joining the APC, leaving his former boss in the cold. Olafeso also said APC stalwarts have shown Wike the way out by making it clear that Fubara would be recognised as the leader of their party in Rivers, before Wike resolved to defect to the APC. “Some of them are even calling for his removal as minister,” he revealed. The president is not going to do such, seems you don't even know the person you are working with. He understands the importance of everyone working together, don't expect him to choose. What he is going to do is simple, allow the two to sort it out themselves. If it turns out that Fubara is coming for a second term under APC, don't expect Tinubu to back him, that's not how he operates. Ambode's experience should have been enough clue as to what is going to happen, Fubara moving to APC is not a guarantee that he wins a second term. He made a grave error by fighting Wike, less than a year into his administration, when he is yet to consolidate power. I like stability, it enhances growth, policy continuation and unity within the state. Lagos is an example, it cost nothing in the end. But on the other end, Godfatherism is not ideal, but yet again you can't get into government without the help of powerful people in Nigeria. Learning how to massage their ego while you go on with your work is the best way, Kogi state looks like one for now. |

If Tinubu does not back Fubara, none of the decamped APC governors will trust him enough to work for his re-election. |

Tinubu wants to continue to eat from two pots at the same time. That's the definition of greed and it can only lead to food poisoning. The implosion of APC is inevitable. More landmines are in front. |
| Re: 'We May Ask The President To Choose Between Us And Wike’ – APC NWC Member by AMINDA: 9:58am On Jan 06 |
Afriifa:That is the tight corner he has dribbled himself into. This will be the case beginning from the Southsouth. Most of the governors only decamped to neutralize the strong potential opponents that APC would have fielded against them (which in itself, has created many silently aggrieved party members). Seeing Tinubu throw Fubara under the bus will leave them questioning their choices. Their eyes go first blur. APC is currently a party of very strange bedfellows and it will be impossible to pacify everybody without tumbling the cart. |

AMINDA:Indeed, and since these former governors were majorly PDP governors, some of them would not only want to protect their own interest but that of Fubara. |

The Process that Made Fubara Governor Was a Very Stolen Mandate - Cole https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZveF5xN9GTQ Jonathan the weakling asked his Ministers to resign if they wanted to contest in the next elections and join politics. Tinubu the strongman cannot reign in his Ministers to resign if they want to face politics. Life is wonderful. None of Obasanjo's Ministers dare play politics when he was the Boss. You don't need to go far to know who gives Wike the relevance. A president who is more interested in politics than governance. Newsdesk President Goodluck Jonathan officially instructed his ministers with political ambitions for the 2015 general elections to resign on October 15, 2014. During a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on that date, he directed those planning to contest for elective offices to submit their resignation letters by October 20, 2014. Key details regarding this event include: The Valedictory Session: A valedictory session was held on October 15 for seven ministers who had indicated they would be leaving to pursue governorship bids. The Ministers Involved: The seven ministers who resigned following this directive included Nyesom Wike (Education), Musiliu Obanikoro (Defence), Labaran Maku (Information), Samuel Ortom (Trade), Emeka Wogu (Labour), Onyebuchi Chukwu (Health), and Darius Ishaku (Niger Delta). Reason for Resignation: The directive was issued to ensure that government officials did not use state resources or machinery to fund or influence their personal political campaigns for the upcoming 2015 elections. Earlier in the same year, on February 12, 2014, President Jonathan had also accepted the resignations of four other ministers, some of whom were reportedly leaving to further their own political interests.

Opportunity for the opposition to split APC down the middle. The opposition will do well to join the fray and mix things thick instead of screaming that the ruling party wants to Nigeria into a one party state. |

asfrank:But Uba Sani fighting El rufai is ideal. Why did Tinubu take sides so soon with Uba Sani and turn his back on El rufai rather than remain neutral? |

These are planned chaos by the APC so they can start decamping to ADC to cause chaos for them... They're playing the games but we all know. The new coalition should be extremely careful. Kwankwaso is their stooge. |

Svoboda:I don't like it. Which why I said they should learn how to massage their ego. Moreover the conflict between the two started after the Ministerial Snub, El rufai was already on his way out. |
