Osimhen needs serious competition in the striker position. Lots of great players have played for Nigeria without visible temper tantrums . Super eagles will
Always be there. Osimhen or not. He just lucky he is the most indispensable player in the squad today

I fit lend am padlock sef! lol.

Honestly training together for long periods can't be overstated.

All this 2-3 days training for qualifying games sometimes dilutes the quality of matches SE play.

Goke7:
Every thing he’s saying here I agree 😂

Na person wey no play street football go Dey overreact to wetin happen yesterday

The more reason now Chelle should continue to lock journalists and all those content creators out of training sessions. I was of the opinion earlier that he should be diplomatic but now make e lock door throw away key sef 😂

grin
Osimheen, Iwobi, Adams are team players

That's how Lookman hid against DRC South Africa & Benin republic
Osimheen haaters can be annoying
Abeg he should sit on the bench let others play
When has Lookman bailed us when we are having a bad game
The test starts now
Small teams have been knocked out
You guys making this a Lookman vs Osimhen are not his fans but the real haters.

We are in a critical phase. We have the quality and tactics to pick this cup.

Time for players to drop their ego and think of the boss.

If Chelle wins the AFCON, it gives us a chance for tactical continuity. Let the players not deceive themselves. Second place will not be respected.

They need to kick off their negativity and pick up a team mentality.

Sabotage when your team is leading 3-0 with 2 goals assisted by the same teammates sabotaging you?

TheGoodJoe:
I have to comment about this Osimhen attitude issue. I am one never to hold back pointing out when a player is wrong but in this case, I understand Osimhen.

When a player is in space and the team fails to pass to him repeatedly, it turns to sabotage.

The bond in the National team is like brotherhood, so it is clear why Osimhen feels bitter.

We have a nice system the coach is building and refusing to pass us like refusing to keep greasing the engine. We also need Osimhen's confidence and this attitude of refusing to pass to him will not help.

It shows seeds of disunity, mistrust and disharmony.

chrisooblog:

The point is simple. It is not a game thing but a long term goal. You need to keep oiling the tactics. Anything less is sabotage.

Osimhen feels betrayed and hurt by people he considers brothers. Chelle needs to get slides and let them understand Osimhen scoring in line with the tactics is a team goal.

The players must change their attitude. We are still a long way to go. Let us not ruin a good position.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:02am On Jan 06
I agree that Osimhen comes out as arrogant. However, I don't see arrogance but fire for perfection. Osimhen is a player ready to run into the fire for his team and he wants that for everyone. The optics does not look good but if you understand that this is the fuel that drives him to keep performing at a high level, you will take it with a spoon full of sugar.

Exactly.

It's a team sports,pass!

Of what use is it, to make those runs when your teammates cannot pass.

ChrisKels:
Osimhen has totally lost his fans from Nigeria. Dude should pray he never gets into any troubles with his club the way he did with Napoli, otherwise no fan is coming to support him.

God bless you sir, 😂 honestly we should be focusing on the next game and just continue from the form of yesterday. Let the coaches sort out the dressing or the locker room.

If Chelle can manage this even if we don’t win the trophy I advocate for him to continue but let’s be reminded if he asked for a raise in salary hope we won’t bottle it again like we did with jpes and begin to say we have Nigerian coaches that can do better. We are an arrogant people o

Not true.

AFCON Yellow Card Rules
Under CAF regulations for AFCON, yellow cards accumulate during the group stage and can lead to a one-match suspension if a player reaches two bookings before the knockouts begin. However, all single yellow cards are wiped clean at the start of the knockout stage (Round of 16 onward), giving players a fresh slate—except in cases where a player already served a suspension for reaching two yellows.Since Bassey only had one yellow before the Mozambique match (and picked up his second in the Round of 16 itself), he never reached the accumulation threshold during the group stage. Therefore, no suspension was triggered.
Implications
Bassey's second yellow (against Mozambique) has no carry-over effect.
He is fully available for Nigeria's quarter-final (against the winner of Algeria vs DR Congo).
The late booking was unnecessary with the game already won 4-0, but it carries no disciplinary consequence beyond that match.

No reports indicate any suspension for Bassey heading into the quarter-finals, and he remains a key part of Nigeria's defense.

From Grok
chrisooblog:
He's not suspended. The yellow he picked up in the group stage has been cancelled.
I really hope you're all correct...
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 11:22am On Jan 06
Chelle needs to also discuss with Osimhen regarding the optics of the team. Yes, he was heartbroken and felt betrayed but he needs to always put the team first.

He could sort this out in the locker room by having a private discussion with the faulting players and the manager.

Exploding on the pitch, creates a bad light of him and the team.

Osimhen should know he is now a world star and should carry himself as such.

I wish Chelle the best of sorting things out and I hope all parties put this behind them.

They should always remember that the system is king.

Betrayed!? Guy easy with the melodramatic description.

The team has been playing well and feeding Osimhen that's why he has three goals to his name.

Why couldn't Victor have waited till they get to the sanctity of the dressing room to express his frustrations?

Why the eye service forming passion to make it look like your teammates are stupid for not passing to you?

Quality tactics without adequate team spirit and unity won't get you anywhere. If I was his team mate yesterday even though I won't voice it out I would be saying who does this jerk think he is?

We have a crucial game on Saturday. Victor should channel that vex to the opposition we will face.

I admire Osimhen he should not allow his temper overshadow his many wonderful qualities.

See yesterday he scored twice deserving of standing ovation yet because of his poor attitude na boos he chop. I can bet yesterday for him mind he go dey say why are these ingrates booing me.

The system is king. Not the fans, not Osimhen, not Lookman or Chelle. Not the fans. The system. When the players are abandoning the game plan they are betraying the team in the long run. Whether we are winning 10-0 or not.

Players like VO comes once in a generation and when he’s done or retired it will take donkey years to see another Nigerian striker like him. We’ve not produced a striker like him since Yekini. I just laugh at those condemning all about him. Has Uruguay produced another striker like the ear biting Suarez?.

When you have such players you focus more on what they deliver to you and manage their excesses that’s best practice all over. Vinicius is another character did he not produce all the goods for Real Madrid? Gattuso was a mad man per excellence did Italy not win the World Cup with him? We Africans especially Nigerians are always looking for unnecessary perfection from people which doesn’t exist anywhere and that’s why we keep underperforming.

Am beginning to like Eric Chelle more no matter what you say about his players he sticks with them no matter what as far as they deliver. If it’s a Nigerian coach players like Nwabali would have been removed to please self righteous Nigerians. He’s bringing that westerner mentality where you focus on what’s being delivered instead of looking for moral perfection and he said it in his interview with Segun Odegbami he’s looking for warriors on the pitch not gentlemen 😂 he himself na werey wey wan slap that Congolese in that wcq play offs!

It is about continuous improvement and mastery of the system. It is the system that will carry us in the long run. It takes a lot of work to perfect it. So abandoning it because we feel we have done enough is not the way.

All we're saying is that he should tone down the BS.

Is it not team work too to ensure the highest scorer in the competition or your country is from your team or generation? Is it not a thing of pride for any team player?

The Brazilian team in 2002 World Cup ensured that Ronaldo da Lima surpassed Pele goal record for Brazil in the World Cup. They were intentional about it and achieved it.
