Algeria have won their first four matches of an AFCON edition for the third time in history, after 1990 (🏆 champions) and 2019 (🏆 champions).

In both of those editions, the desert foxes defeated Nigeria along the way before winning the tournament. History will not repeat itself on Saturday

Amen though this will be a very tough game for our boys.
Meanwhile, shame on Tunisia’s performance in this competition and double shame on Ghana who could not even qualify - came last in their group qualifiers. National embarrassment grin

Last time we met Algeria in 2019, it was under a rather boring and defensive Rohr coached team thar had a thin and overworked midfield pairing consisting of Ndidi and Etebo (two players who had logged in many hours of football without rest in that tournament), I believe we took only 4 midfielders to that AFCON?

NOW we have a better midfield depth- Iwobi, Ndidi and Onyeka are battle tested and have come of age in experience/chemistry...Onyedika, Bashiru, Nnadi etc off the bench are goal threats...Bassey is a physical specimen and will bully their attackers, our attack- Osi/Lookman/Akor running at you for 90+ minutes? Algeria haven't faced such potency in this tournament, dem go feel am.

We will concede, but we will outscore them and I'm stating here with unapologetic confidence that this game won't get to extra time. Algeria didn't face Lookman, Akor and Osimhen in 2019, it was Ighalo and Musa, they faced Rohr football in 2019 but they will face Chelle football this time- BIG DIFFERENCE.

I don't know but I just feel this Adam is underated. He hardly have bad games since he started playing for the SE. Whenever Osimhen isn't playing, I would suggest we try him as our point man and go to striker. He has the physic, height and he plays technically
he’s not a prolific goalscorer

My boys are cooking!!!
Bossoflife25:
It is waste of time arguing with people that genuinely believe this top 5 would win AFCON. lol!
Based on what? History or quality?
1. Ivory Coast
2. Nigeria
3. Egypt
4. Senegal
5. Morocco (as per host/CAF/Referee)

I just looked up Algeria and Nigeria h2h and it's not looking good for Nigeria at all
We have lost 4 out of the last 5 games against Algeria with our last win being in 2016...I'm not so confident in Nigeria anymore
You have never been since the start of the tournament... You don't see us in the semis since the or what changes

Any time you expect the super eagles to perform...they usually fumble and when you expect them to disappoint, they become superb

So I am not confident in them so that I will be impressed when they prove me wrong.

Reverse psychology 😏

I'd be scared of the Super Eagle team too if i'm not Nigerian... The Super Eagle team is currently Gold Standard... Frightening Defenders, Overworking Midfielders and a Very Potent Attack(2 former APOTY in the last 3 years) All 3 attackers are on multiple Goals + assist....

Osimhen = Goals Normally.
Lookman = Even more Potent than Osimhen in a Tournament.
Akor = 3rd options with a Goal and 2 assist already...

we stacked bro...
Onuachu dey bench dey salivate(1 goal already)
chukwueze wants to play badly i'm sure.
Bashiru when called upon like to get in the box (1 assist)
Onyedika. have not even played anything but 1 match (2 goals already)

Baba, i'm just waiting for the cup...
i hope they do a lagos state parade...

Proud of the team... Premium Joy...

What of the pass Lookman gave that ndidi and Chukwueze couldn't communicate. You go just pick your bias begin typed. You guys should rest this issue at this point.
terzurum5:
I did not see where lookman lashed out or pointed at lookman.

Victor was explaining something to Lookman.(V09 was visibly upset and I could notice that he cloth the tips of his fingers to explain the source of his frustration) go watch again.

It seems I watched a different game.
It is obvious some fans just want to talk down and boo him just as the fans at the stadium did.
You may not like his attitude for demanding for team play, but modifying what did not happen to suit your narrative is uncalled for.
Some of you do worse than what Osimhen is accused of right here on this thread.
Most of you including the media (accidental content creators) crucifying Victor have not taken a moment to analyse what really went on.
Na follow follow ona dey do. Why should the fans boo him. If I were him I would have done same. We lost the match against DR Congo because Lookman failed give a simple pass to V09 in the first half of the game.

Dude has done a lot for the national team and I do not think it is out of place for him to demand for more supplies from his mates to score more goals. Does he not deserve more service to score more? Come on.

Some of you fans behave as if you have never been upset with your family/Church members, workmates or even done worse than he has done. Be perfect when e reach your turn.

Nigerian fans that booed Osimhen where just very ungrateful without understanding what transpired on the field. Osimhen was only explaining his frustration to Lookman.

Now AFCON begins.

Games will be very very close. I expect teams to nullify each other tactically in most cases. Individual brilliance and physical conditioning could be difference from this point onwards to the final.

Algeria provides the sternest test for the SE at this AFCON. The result and performance will tell a lot about the true state of this team.

We were not always what ??

Our entire identity was overage players

Jam body football and kick and follow

I’m glad we’re adapting to technical football albeit slowly but still adapting all the same
So between 1994 and 2013, we dey play Jam body football?

Guy!!!!

You're right bros..
We have a super team and we seem to get better with every game..
Even our much maligned defence is become more and more solid as the guys understand how to play better together..

Also the Coach has identified the weak areas of the team and improved them..

We have become a free flowing side, creating loads of chances and scoring goals at will..

It will take something super special to stop this team..
Does Algeria have that super element? Time will tell
Although I don't see Algeria stopping us
We are that good

Hmm and we're facing the same Algeria team of 2019 abi, remember Algeria eliminated the same Congo Dr that beat us recently though via penalties.....my man we can only get over Algeria with good tactics like we did in group stage and against Mozambique.

I don't know that we're creating load of chances and scoring goals but the team is being sabotaged?....yes against Algeria if Chelle gets it right nothing is stoping us but Onyeka and Iwobi we need to double their efforts for us to enjoy Iwobi...am seeing Onyedika and Chuckwueze killed it latter in the game

I don't care how they are going to do it but please, they should beat Algeria. Some of us still bears the pain of that free kick. Let's whip those boys biko.

So we face Algeria.

For ease and less stress levels I would have preferred DR Congo but for the neutrals what a match up to look forward to.

For us we have the tools to beat them we just have to minimize our weaknesses.

It's normal to be wary of a top opposition like Algeria.

Won't lie also didn't fancy facing them but I'm really confident based on how good our attack and midfield has been.

The coaches should really maximize the freshness of our boys to wear down an Algerian side that has played intense 120 minutes of football.

The full backs will suffer most as Algeria got tricky wingers.. Everyone has to be involved in defense that day..
