Interest fading when we are on the cusp of taking our pound of flesh from the Algerians? Better wake up! Or am I the only confident person ahead of that game?
I'm confident too, just not really interested again.

I never said Algeria will be a walkover...I'm just against you downplaying our opponents just because we outplayed them..
The teams in Algeria group being regular AFCON knockout stage customers doesn't negate the fact that we also faced some good oppositions ..
If we are to go by your logic, then we are supposed to beat Algeria, seeing as we have better AFCON pedigree than them
boss me, hope if i elongate this argument hope you no go start dey vex ooo😂😂😂…i don dey fear una for this platform oo

ok ok ok ok now bro listen i am not downplaying our opponents….does it means one cant say an opponent is a weak opponent? and then it wont sound like one is downplaying the effort of the dominant team?

baba Algeria playing and winning against 2 strong teams that are regulars of afcon knockout stages and sending home DRC another crazy african team means the Algerian team is a strong team…..
Tunisia of this Afcon will not come out of that Algerian group with 9points🤣

Yes baba we have a better afcon pedigree than Algeria and we are suppose to beat them….but but but but but look at it very well, Algeria is toughest north african team currently in this Afcon🙏🙏🙌🏻🙌🏻

Even if we win Afcon they will continue to condemn him, Delaw you don’t know Nigerians enough! The great keshi with all he did was condemned like a criminal!
Like Dannyxy said I noticed it was becoming toxic. People began to aim for his spirit. Not to correct him but to crush him. We will not allow that.

Our players should beware of the trickery of North African oppositions and prepare to play against 12 men on Saturday,
We should avoid conceding unnecessary fouls, getting into provocations (Nwabali) to avoid getting cheap bookings..
Flashback 2021 afcon vs Tunisia when iwobi got a red card ultimately killing our comeback hopes..

You get my point when you said "my own is people should not go overboard insulting and blasting him".

My anger is with people who say he's not done anything for Nigeria. 99.9% of the people who say this have not done anything of national significance yet we are quick to rubbish Osimhen.

He has made a mistake. We have condemned him. Let us also accommodate him. And above all, let us remember that none of us is perfect. We all make mistakes.
walai, na me go first scream for viewing centre if Victor scores against Algeria.
I need Victor and Lookman to and 2more goals in this Quarterfinal and maybe enter 5goals each…e no bad if we beat Algeria 4-2…2goals from Osimhen and Lookman

in all of this sef, even hope we pound Algeria and make them an Ekuke team…this is simply becos we are beastly in this tournament….i wish we can tear them apart…but pre-match meetings shows they are a real test coming our way…..way way tougher than what Tunisia brings

just like Brazil 2014 world cup….football punters and analysts knew Germans were gonna face a stern tough test in brazil…but the invincibility of Germans came to play and they tore the Brazilian apart with 7-0…..thats what i wish for super eagles in saturday
If we tear this Algeria apart, we will send a tremor throughout Africa.

AFCON dream has gone to blazes
And now even the Nairaland Super Eagles thread has gone to blazes
We should ban football in this country and start focusing on cricket or something undecided

@Mujtahlda, it's been a while. However, what goal were you trying to achieve with the bolded? I hope that's just a joke or an exaggeration of your thought. How would i be able to defend myself when someone of a different race throws it in my face and reminds me that my brother thinks the same?
That's my opinion which I reached after long reflection and if needs be I'd repeat it again. You might not find it palatable but it won't change my mind.

Dude is the most hated player in that squad when he does well those haters who come for him when he slips never comes out to even commend his efforts that’s how bad it is. If you observe many monikers who aren’t regular here all came out in droves to heap all sorts on him for that spat with his teammates and they will never change. Already he’s going to be scapegoat if Afcon is not won. They are just waiting 😂

🥵 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧: The Super Eagles of Nigeria have 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 lost a game in which Victor Osimhen found the back of the net 🥅!
He holds the longest unbeaten record in history for any Super Eagle centre-forward that scored in a game! 📈

Whenever Victor Osimhen scores for Nigeria, at least a point is 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗗 and defeat is 𝗔𝗩𝗢𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗗! 🔒😁

Yes, Bennacer was rightly noted but below is the difference.

-Bennacer is key to their rhythm in the middle but he was also onfield for 49mins vs DRC and Algeria didnt have any progressive sequence. So in essence, Bennacer was key to them keeping the ball but not exactly progressing the ball or hurting the opponent vertically.
Even against Burkina Faso, Bennacer played 87mins but only dropped 3 final third pass entries. Most of his passes were backward or sideways.

-In Iwobi's case, he is a high volume progressive passer. And it would be bad strategy for the Algerians to have 2-3 players on Iwobi constantly bcoz he plays deep and it would mean them leaving gaps in behind which our other midfielders and a Lookman or Akor can easily take advantage of.

It is difficult double/triple-marking a player playing a bit deeper on the LCM channel and who can also pop up meters short of the final third, especially knowing you would be conceding space and giving up a lot of gaps that a Quick Nigerian offensive transition can utilise.

Now, on the Ndidi or Onyedika question. Yes, it is okay Ndidi continues his role especially for the sake of Team Chemistry already at a high with the personnel executing the 4-3-1-2 setup. I guess you ask this because of the yellow Ndidi has. Well, that brings me to my next point.

Onyeka and Ndidi are on yellow cards, yes. I understand the risk but this is why we must begin the game on the front foot which I know is Chelle's plan and is Nigeria's style so far at this Afcon. Let the Algerians be the ones on the backfoot with need to defend and try stop our forays... it is the team that is on defence constantly that is more likely to commit fouls. I repeat "more likely". An attacking team commits fouls too and could be carded if there is a dangerous turnover in possession resulting in having to scramble back due to a poor "rest defence" setup.

Onyedika and maybe Nnadi or a winger can come in when the game looks "safe" to protect Onyeka and Ndidi from picking up 2nd yellows ahead of the semis. Akinsanmiro was reported ill as at last training report so I cant count on him now.

In finality, Blueelf, you seem more concerned than usual about how we approach this game. Oga, can you please continue in your negative work? Abeg.
you dey mad grin grin grin grin grin

I rarely attribute malice or hatred to people's motivations but on this, I agree totally with you that he's the most hated. Not just because of this incident but I have observed it especially on X on other occasions. He is hated with a passion. It's baffling but I think it's because he has circle of friends and those who are outside that circle are envious of those within the circle, so they direct their malice towards Osimhen with the aim of crushing his spirit. Human beings are wicked oo.

Nothing concerns them with his footballing contributions to Nigeria. Naaa. That doesn't matter. What matters to them is that they are outside his circle and they hate it.

It hurts.

Folks tipping Algeria and Morroco to advance.

Some Algerians are wary of this SE team. Frankly no side in Africa can match the SE's attack. The issue is if the other depts will come to the party and the team clicks as a whole.

Cameroon are a boogey team on the continent. They have a way of overachieving with average players. Morroco could be in for a rude awakening.

Some people, for no tangible reasons just develop dislike for certain people...over time, that dislike turns to hatred...
In Osimhen's case, it was after that spat with Finidi that many people brought their hatred to the limelight...
One thing I've observed in most controversies involving Osimhen is that he isn't always the instigator...starting from his feud with Napoli, issue with Finidi, his refusal to sign with Chelsea and now this.... It is his reaction to the issue that people always focus on rather than issue itself..
The fact is that not everybody is cool headed... people react to issues differently... Even Lookman that some people are praising as being cool headed, well brought up child had issue with his club too...

In the end, Osimhen is one of the most passionate player this country has ever produced, and that's based on facts!

Meliforme:
Regarding Osimhen and Lookman's saga

Lookman's behaviour towards Osimhen is like administering Paracetamol (an analgesic) as a cure for Malaria.

Lookman should have joined in the cautioning of Bruno and the entire team, instead of providing a dissent making it look like Osimhen doesn't know what he is saying.

Lookman did not attack the real problem. This made Osimhen more upset.

Osimhen's emphasis was on teamplay. Lookman's was leaning towards glory hunting.
The number of goals Osimhen has scored should not banish teamplay.

Lookman's words lacked compassion and real comfort.
He is more deserving of the stick.

I believe that every professional should be educated in the principles of conflict resolution, so that they can settle conflicts without exacerbating it.
You don't understand why Lookman told Osimhen to calm down. He felt guilty because he too did what Bruno did.

It's a good thing Ademola stood up to Victor. Yes, na men all of them be. People like that Ademola who are quiet are sometimes also stubborn oo.

Like Mikel said, I like the fire. It shows our players are madly driven to get something out of this Afcon. They are not running like a Rolls Royce, they are moving like HOWO Truck

The only reason they are a test is because they are the hosts and refrees will be biased towards them

Else, I am even more wary of CIV
