Lady Cries Out As Soldier Tears Her Camouflage Clothes In Lagos Market by Kingsley34(op): 5:23pm On Jan 08

In this shocking viral video from Katangowa Market in Lagos, Nigeria, a woman selling second-hand (OK) clothes breaks down as she recounts how a Nigerian soldier spotted military-style camouflage items in her stock and tore them to pieces on the spot.
The footage captures the chaotic market scene: piles of used jeans, shirts, and clothing scattered on the ground, with several camouflage-patterned pieces being ripped apart by hands (implied to be the soldier's). The distressed vendor, wearing a purple top, gestures emotionally while bystanders watch. No audio of the confrontation is clear, but the destruction is evident amid the bustling okrika (second-hand) market.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions over Nigeria's strict laws banning civilians from possessing or selling military camouflage (under Section 110 of the Criminal Code), aimed at preventing impersonation by criminals. While some view the soldier's actions as necessary for security, others criticize the destruction of private property without due process.

What do you think – was the soldier right, or did he go too far?

Which one be due process?
The problem here is like their military laws allow them to do these kind of things without waiting for order. If their laws also permit them to go and ambush terrorists without waiting for order (like in this case), I don't think we would be having terrorism issues.

Bullies. Is that the Nigerian Army camouflage? VDM wore Ghana Army camouflage and Nigeria soldiers couldn't do anything to him.
Even by Nigeria's archaic law, it's only an offense when you wear Nigerian camouflage

Two wrongs, it was wrong selling them in the first place due to the level of insecurity in the country. It was also wrong of the soldier destroying them. He could have just seized them.

Nigeria is a country with selective justice. I saw the other day army commandants abi generals with bandits. Some of the bandits were on military camouflage and nothing happened.

Please avoid trouble by all means.

The soldiers were certainly wrong, but the girl should have followed the principle: when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Until soldiers and other force men are placed where they truly belong instead of placing them as demi-gods in our society a lot of things will remain the same backwards bollocks. Starting with the part of the constitution which should be scrapped off. In saner climes if a soldier commits an offence they're treated accordingly but here it's another ball game hence the need for the nonsense law in the first place. A soldier on uniform will be harassing a civilian and no one dares to interfere because of the fake power given to them because of the uniform. Take the power away from the uniform and watch how they behave accordingly like their counterparts in saner climes. If there's no fake power in that uniform who would be using it for criminal acts or wtv? Because they know you can do wtv in that same uniform and get away with it. Everything is just wrong in this country as with most west African nations too. We really need to catch up.

If the uniform is enticing let her get the form and I will help her to sell her peace just as every soldier has done.
