I don't know why but I'm getting this same weird feeling I had before we faced DRC in Rabat last month. It also doesn't help that just like last month, we had this same bonus row issue before those playoffs games. I feel like these players are going to experience a dip in form on Saturday. I'm mentally preparing myself for a loss and to move on from this AFCON after this weekend. |

CAF Removed 2025 Referee of The Year from AFCON 2025. CAF 2025 Referee of The Year, Omar Artan, who was initially appointed to officiate the Algeria-Nigeria Quarter-Final game, has finally been SACKED by CAF for wearing cleats of a brand not approved by CAF. The Somalian 🇸🇴 Referee won the Referee of the Year award in 2025 CAF Awards in Morocco last year. #TotalEnergiesAFCON2025 #AFCON2025 |

Kog45:We also need him and Ndidi to provide serious help to Osayi-Samuel. The Algerians will be licking their lips at the prospect of setting a dangerous winger like Amoura on him. If Wan-Bissaka struggled to contain him, then your guess is as good as mine. |

Starboytwo:Ha,make Algeria no mark both Osimhen and Lookman o cuz we're guaranteed of Osimhen goal and Lookman assists, fact Lookman must not be caged cuz so far his assists count but Onyeka be the koko |

No penalty awarded to the SE yet at AFCON which is a good sign. My issue with these Mahgreb nations hosting AFCON is the obvious biased officiating. VAR and the general officiating level at the last AFCON was a lot better. |

Kog45:I think it's Algeria that should worry about our midfield.. They will struggle to stop those Iwobi's telepathic passes from deep How will they curtail Lookman's and Akor 's runs? How will they stop our corners and crosses? Algeria coach will be having headaches by now |

I also expect Algeria to try and get soft free kicks and penalties against us.. Ndidi, Bassey, Ajayi and Osayi should be talked to abeg |

Meliforme:No be today I don dey shout say Éric Chelle good and is very intelligent and tactical. Apart from being a good coach, he's also a good manager and a good person. I'm working on some data on the man, make we finish Algeria match first. Immediately NFF appointed him, I watched a lot of Mali highlights and analyzed his pattern of football and knew he knows his job. Apart from that one seff, where I respect am na where he beat Super Eagles for that friendly match after we just beat Ghana o, we had no shots on target for the entire 90 mins with all the attacking football wey Finidi George promise. The way he's always happy about having this job is always making me happy too, he dey always feel like na Spain or France he dey coach and that alone makes me respect him more! 😁 |

Meliforme:The heatmap is showing Osimhen roaming the midfield and defence while Akor stayed in a the target man when he does so. |

lbrichman2:Leave Algeria alone to be worrying about us and let us worry about them...we need to up our game against them and we can only win through solid midfied performance and tracking back of Osimhen and Lookman to assist will give us an edge |

You guys should stop the panic. The Algerians are even more worried about the Super Eagles. We are the only team with a 100% record in this AFCON, with plenty of goals to show for it. We’re topping the goal chart, our players are leading the goal-contribution chart, and our attacking line is top-notch. Algeria cannot afford to switch off for even a few minutes—they will pay dearly for it. This time, it’s not just about the Super Eagles; it’s about pride. The only way to redeem the image of this team is to win the AFCON. The Super Eagles must win it—nothing less. So stay calm, guys. It’s one game at a time. Let’s just pray we’re not unlucky, especially with refereeing decisions. The energy in camp is high, and the boys know exactly what’s at stake. Let’s enjoy the game. 🇳🇬🦅 |

Kog45:That is Overhyping at its premium. Ronaldo de Lima was already a World Club winner with Sao Paulo before heading to USA 94. |

mekabuachi:These days, Nigerian sports journalists hardly do proper research. Many have become lazy—lifting content from here and other sports platforms. Conversations that start here end up circulating everywhere. Gone are the days when you genuinely looked forward to hearing from journalists or reading sports news. Now, it’s something else entirely. Most of the negative stories you read about him are simply engagement farming. That’s why it’s important to be mindful of what you consume on the internet. First-hand information about the Super Eagles often comes from here, and from a few unique individuals who focus on quality content on YouTube and Twitter. So forget the negative news about Chelle. We should appreciate him for the good work he’s doing. The record is there to speak for him. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Meliforme: 10:46am On Jan 09 |
forgiveness:The Center Forward is usually the target man, and occupies the more central areas which places him in a better position at goalscoring. The heatmap reveal Osimhen occupying the more central areas. Osimhen and Akor may not track back at the same time for tactical reasons, but whenever the team is attacking with the ball, Osimhen runs into space primarily the central areas waiting for a pass, revealing that he is the target man. |

zicky:If Osimhen had taken out on Ejuke that day, would anyone blame him?? Hell no, but we were cruising on the same 3 goals. The same scenario was playing out over and over again against Moz. This clip is from the same match. That's lookman with the ball and Osimhen to the left . This one worse pass Ejuke own but we dey roast the young man. Anyways wetin I know sef. My own is, if u have a sledgehammer, just use it and crush the ant. Then other ants will fear you. SE lost its fear factor the day they started winning even minnows with only 1 goal. Osimhen only shouted "Hey hey this is a team game!!! There is no player that will not be angry when stuff like this kept repeating itself

I hope with the Armada in our artillery we should be able to devour the Algerians Foxes by 3:0 or 4:1 scoreline. Something tells me the refereeing and VAR might not be too notch as per disallowing our goals hence we might settle for a 2:1 victory in our favour tomorrow. |

Victor Osimhen (25) has the most open-play shot-ending sequences (attacking sequences) involvement for Nigeria's Super Eagles at Afcon 2025. Closely followed by Alex Iwobi (23). Amad Diallo (28) and Franck Kessie (27) of Côte d'Ivoire lead the way in the metric overall. Source: OptaJoe
