Morocco (Maroc)'s coach, Walid Regragui tonight becomes the first coach to reach the semi-finals with an African nation in two distinct major tournaments (FIFA World Cup and CAF AFCON/CAN).

Not a bad CV addition.

Mohamed Aboutrika: “The referee and the VAR were not up to the level of the match and were unfair to both Morocco and Cameroon.

Morocco were wronged by two penalties that were not awarded, including Saibari’s chance when he was through on goal. Cameroon were also wronged by two penalties that were not awarded, including Mbeumo’s chance.”

That barry na Otu keeper

He was lucky to play for a good team

Well, he did win the Afcon for CIV in 2015. He was benched for Gbohouo throughout the tournament but played the final vs Ghana, saved 2 penalties and scored the winning penalty.

Note: Gbohouo got injured in the semis.

He had his moments of both clownery and heroism. Lol

Ismael Saibari, the Moroccan #11's goal was the 2000th goal in Afcon History.

Meanwhile Senegal just matched our unbeaten streak at the Afcon in tournament history. Ours would have been more if we didnt miss 1996 and 1998 editions coz this unbeaten streak happened during our Golden Generation era.

Nations with the longest unbeaten streak in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon):

- 🇪🇬 Egypt: 24 matches (February 2004–February 2017)
- 🇳🇬 Nigeria: 16 matches (January 1992–February 2002)
- 🇸🇳 Senegal: 16 matches (since January 2022)

Great. Seems JJ Okocha scored the 1,000th goal at the 2004 edition.

Yes. You are right. It was against South Africa in a 4-0 win that also saw the full breakout of Osaze Odemwingie.

He should go to Germany. Any of Leipzig or Bayer 04 will be good for him

Meanwhile Nigeria eligible GK Arthur Okonkwo saved 2 PK to help Wrexham beat Forrest in an English FA cup game tonight

West Ham still interested in Zulte Waregem midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi

This is now confirmed by the Belgian press; the player could even leave the JPL as early as this winter (HNB)

Already commented on Arthur Okonkwo's heroics.

TheSuperNerd:
Good thing the lad is coming home. Felt bad when Hudson beat him twice to take the game to extra time but happy with the ending.

Even Awoniyi tried to conjure via creating but Arthur said no.

Our Center-back depth looks really good ahead of the next AFCON in 2027

-Bassey
- Frederick
- Nwaiwu
- Igoh Ogbu
- Emmanuel Uchenna (Div 1, yes, but needs to step up to a stronger league).

- * Emmanuel Chukwu
- * Vince Osuji
And Arthur Okonkwo as our reliable GK with an experienced Nwabali

Chelle will hopefully go to that tournament as this year's AFCON winner or finalist with an abundance of exciting pool of players to choose from.

The odds favored Senegal and Morocco to go through and they did just that....I don't expect it to be different for civ or Nigeria so our semi finals are

Civ vs Senegal (a repeat of their match in 2023 ro16 irc and I see civ beating Senegal again)

Nigeria vs Morocco (I do not know who will win this sort of matchup...too many variables to think of especially bad officiating which is disgraceful)

Cote D'Ivoire might just win the whole thing at this point ...I don't want Morocco to win it because of the terrible bias officiating so far at the tourney

The same way they shamelessly robbed the African woman best player of the year to a Moroccan player is the same way they're trying to rob the afcon for north Africans

I foresee a CIV vs Nigeria final rematch.

Let me add, on the condition that we get our midfield combinations right, with Onyedika among the pack

Horrible officiating in Morocco
They want to win by force
Do they have a strong grip on CAF or what type of soft power do they have ?
So this is how to force ROI
I don’t think FIFA will allow this at the World Cup though

If we can get past Algeria (I am saying IF because I am hoping a couple distractions will not be a factor in the outcome) We will be in the finals with CIV and we will beat them this time. I expect us to overcome Morocco like the Falcons did.

What about the Tanzania penalty call
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by semid4lyfe(mod):
I refrained from posting in the lead up to our WCQ play-off against DR Congo because I had this fear and eerie feeling that the result wouldn't go our way.

I have that feeling again about our match against Algeria. Also, the inopportune protest over the unpaid allowances/bonuses that resulted in delayed travel/late arrival to Marrakech and inadequate training and acclimatization period in Marrakech hasn't buoyed me with confidence.

But as a Super Eagles fan, I hope and pray we win.
