Calvin Bassey plays central defense like it’s a free role. classy Center Back entering his prime. He’s going to get even better. Anticipation, pace, power, aerial dominance, passing. He’s got the assets . Frightening potential
Trust me, he is not even in his prime yet

CBs generally peak late 20s till early 30s and even mid 30s (for those that keep fit physically and stick to strict diet regimen and a workout routine)

How can I be biased when I genuinely believe Lookman can even excel more? I am pointing out a place where he can even do better than how well he has done.

I used to be very vocal about Osimhen not using space and hammered on it repeatedly. Later he fixed that issue and won the league and golden boot in Italy.

That can't be classed as negative bias.

Won 2-0 yesterday. I have no doubt in my mind we could do far more than that. Same with Lookman.

Constructive criticism is not negative bias.
Oga I don end the matter

CAF and FIFA should explore every possible legal or otherwise available avenue to ensure the Super Eagles’ inclusion in the World Cup.

All four semifinalists at #AFCON2025 are coached by African coaches.

Egypt - 🇪🇬 Hossam Hassan
Senegal - 🇸🇳 Pape Thiaw
Morocco - 🇲🇦 Walid Regragui
Nigeria - 🇲🇱 Éric Chelle

Extra twist.... Oliseh gave both Iwobi and Ndidi their first caps on same day in 2015.

Mujtahida:
At least Amunike won u-17 and discovered Osimhen and Chukwueze, Eguavoen gave Lookman and Bassey their first caps, Oliseh gave Iwobi his first cap but Finidi was really poor (and it pains me cos I like him)

Both him and Iwobi Fulham could have a problem by the end of the season to hold on to them especially if they win Afcon
Yea winning Afcon should be a plus, their epl performance be Koko, they're not newbies,Calvin is moving next season for sure,Iwobi too if he is willing to move out of EPL cuz am not seeing top EPL clubs going for him.

You come dey press him neck like the way we choke Algeria.

Moving on:

Baba, people have commented on how Osimhen was clapping rather than complaining for the efforts his teammates made to find him.

I think that's a positive outcome of that on-field wahala. He must have been told to encourage his teammates rather than complain. And is it not fitting that it was Bruno who caused the wahala that gave him that assist?

Iwobi should just stay in Fulham where he's a guaranteed starter. He's 29. Pata pata if a better EPL club comes, he can move

Again I ask, to sit on the bench for Bastoni or what? Bastoni is a sure starter at Inter and has been with them since 2017.
Bastoni and Bassey are LCBs and you can only start one in a 3 man defence unless the coach wants a left footer at CCB.

The super eagles may likely experience the worst officiating in the game against Morroco. The current CAF president is so corrupt and this afcon has witnessed the highest level of corruption in afcon history.

The level of favour on Morroco is just too much. I don't know why every host nation must win afcon under this current CAF president. He almost did same against super falcons but God intervened.

Nigeria is playing against CAF president, Morroco nation, Morroco players, the Ref and his linesmen. Only God will prevail on Wednesday.

Get ready to see cheap free kicks, fouls, penalty etc in favour of Morroco. VAR will used for fouls against Nigeria but will not be used against Morroco.

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m):
Let me drop this now... because this is another one that we are going to shatter.

Nigeria's records against the Host Nation at Afcon tournaments have not exactly been great.

Nigeria had never beaten a host nation in the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations (excluding the third-place match):

1990 - Algeria 1-0 Nigeria (final)
2004 - Tunisia 1-1 (5-3 on penalties) Nigeria (semi-final)
2008 - Ghana 2-1 Nigeria (quarter-final)
2024 - Ivory Coast 2-1 Nigeria (final)

The exception is:
2002 - Beat Mali in 3rd place match

Note: In 1990, complaints of ref bias.
In 2004, Nigeria took the lead but ref bias gave Tunisia dubious penalty to come back and we lost on P.S.O
In 2008, Ghana were just better on the day.
In 2024, CIV rallied and bested us as we sat back but a few ref calls did go their way.

Not much complaints against Non-North African hosts but against North African hosts, the officiating was always a problem.

History is good for reference sake but now we get to write another story on wednesday even when up against some ref bias. History alone does not decide games and as long as we maintain our composure and stick to dominating and outduelling the Moroccans, the ref bias wont influence much. Time will tell.

Gentlemen, ladies, thank you all for your patience.

Given the joy the super eagles have delivered so far, it become imperative to ensure that this award is finalised by the end of the AFCON tournament. Regardless of whether we win it or not, I'm sure the majority of us will agree that our national teams have done well last year and this year...

On this note, we will proceed to selection of committee members.
In the past, committee members were selected by popular vote where every member of the thread nominated the moniker he/she felt was deserving of the post based on their football knowledge and passion for our national teams. But the problem is that, most people who are nominated end up not showing up due to one commitment or the other.
As a result, we will be going with the option employed last year where only Volunteers will make up the committee.

The process is simple: if you are interested in being part of the nomination committee, quote this post with "interested". Other monikers can go ahead and like your post if they feel you're deserving of the post. The top 6 monikers with the post likes will join Icon4s (honourary member) who is the founding father of the award and myself to bring the total number of committee members to 8.

The selection process is open starting now until 6pm on Wednesday, 14th January, 2026.

Thank you.

PS: Being member of the nomination committee is totally voluntarily...there is no monetary benefit or any other incentive attached to it.
