To beat Morocco. Dominate ,score clean goals and avoid unnecessary tackle inside 18. Morocco two goals against Cameroon was via corner kicks . We will play against CAF president, hostile crowd and Ref. Morocco lost two women finals to Nigeria and SA ,hence they are desperate to win at all cost .

CornOak:
Morocco is playing in the same stadium (Prince Moulay Abdullah) for the sixth consecutive time in this AFCON.
CAF sef na mumu Morocco quarterfinal final should have been moved elsewhere after all Nigeria as group stage winners also played the first 4 matches in Fez until yesterday game when they moved to Marrakesh. Poor organisation there! A different venue would have helped another part or region of the host country to have a personal feel of their team to foster greater unity for their country. But wetin I know sef

CAF should explore every possible legal or otherwise available avenue to ensure the Super Eagles’ inclusion in the World Cup.

Just remembered that we beat civ at home in the last afcon even though the atmosphere was electric and hostile so we are definitely not new to making hosts cry but I wonder if the Moroccan crowd would be crazier

Either way... Nigeria vs Morocco FT 1-0

Another angle: Nigeria to shatter the host curse.

The first and last time Morocco hosted an Afcon was in 1988. The 1976 win for Morocco was in Ethiopia.

Now in 1988, Morocco also reached the Afcon semi finals as Host. Infact, Morocco entered the 1988 Afcon not only as host but as the African side with the best World Cup performance for an African side at the time (Round of 16 finish at 1986 WC).

They met a Cameroonian side that like Morocco was unbeaten at the '88 Afcon. Morocco, that was also unbeaten eventually fell 1-0. Cameroun went on to win the title stopping Nigeria.

In 2026, at Afcon 2025...

Morocco is host yet again. Morocco still ride on the tag of Africa's best performers at a World Cup (Semis at 2022 edition). Morocco is in the semis vs unbeaten and 100%-perfect run Nigeria.
It will be a bloody tough game but Nigeria will triumph only because we will prove to be too superior to the Moroccans.

This will also be redemption for the robbery we suffered in Maroc 1988.

Lastly remember... all the talk of 9pts 1st Placed teams at Afcon since 2019 crashing out in round of 16 vs 3rd placed sides on about 5 occasions or so with only Algeria in 2019 being the exception eventually got crushed by Nigeria when we took out Mozambique.

Now, again, we have this record talk of never beating a host nation at an Afcon in the KOs but again with one exception being in 2002 vs Mali (host). It is time to crush yet another historical pointer. Come wednesday, it is done.

TheSuperNerd:
Let me drop this now... because this is another one that we are going to shatter.

Nigeria's records against the Host Nation at Afcon tournaments have not exactly been great.

Nigeria had never beaten a host nation in the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations (excluding the third-place match):

1990 - Algeria 1-0 Nigeria (final)
2004 - Tunisia 1-1 (5-3 on penalties) Nigeria (semi-final)
2008 - Ghana 2-1 Nigeria (quarter-final)
2024 - Ivory Coast 2-1 Nigeria (final)

The exception is:
2002 - Beat Mali in 3rd place match

Note: In 1990, complaints of ref bias.
In 2004, Nigeria took the lead but ref bias gave Tunisia dubious penalty to come back and we lost on P.S.O
In 2008, Ghana were just better on the day.
In 2024, CIV rallied and bested us as we sat back but a few ref calls did go their way.

Not much complaints against Non-North African hosts but against North African hosts, the officiating was always a problem.

History is good but now we get to write another story on wednesday even when up against some ref bias. As long as we maintain our composure and stick to dominating and outduelling the Moroccans, the ref bias wont influence much. Time will tell.

Beautiful recent memory.

Nigeria 1-0 Mali (2002 Afcon) - KOs stage (third place)

Nigeria 1-0 CIV (2024 - Afcon 2023) - Group stage.

Come wednesday, Nigeria will make it 3 wins vs the hosts at an Afcon.

Iwobi is finally getting the respect he deserves from Nigerians and I'm loving it

That two man midfield role was killing his game and making him look impotent in the midfield to the extent that many fans asked for him to be dropped entirely from the team....

And we are paying him 55k per month and that one self isn't regularly paid...

I doubt NFF will want to offer him a bigger contract except the Federal government or some sponsor will be willing to pay for it...Cus Peseiro was demanding something around 100k per month that made NFF not to retain him...

Anyway, it's the monetary advantage that will make Chelle pick a team like Tunisia over Mali, because very few African countries (Morocco, Ivory Coast, Senegal) have a larger pool of talents than Nigeria as it stands

so pe o ti lo. I know the nff will bungle this. Any serious nation would have extended the coach contract immediately after yesterday game after all semi final was the target if am right.

Okay, having researched and exhausted the historical angle of Nigeria vs Host nations, it is fair to say what truly matters at the end of the day and in this very moment and time is "Who bloody wants it more on match day?"

This Nigerian generation has reached this Afcon stage before just 2 yrs back in 2024 (@Afcon 2023). They have the mentality and experience of what this semis stage entails. They will see it as now or never.

This Moroccan generation has never experienced an Afcon semis and they will do so against the "Hands Down" Best Team at this Tournament in Nigeria's Super Eagles. Like they did at the World Cup in 2022, I see them cracking at the semis stage. They are good but Nigeria would be too physically, athletically, tactically and technically superior for the North African host and their fans will witness that superiority live. No officiating help will dim this.

Eric Chelle will outclass Walid Regragui.

If Chelle beats Morocco
NFF please give this man 4 years contract till 2030 world cup
Let him improve our team
He's a decent tactician
Maybe local talents can break out in the future

They better give IWOBI mvp when we win the trophy for fairness sake
Every build up comes through him
CAF will want to give Lookman or Osimhen for popularity sake
The CAF technical team should strictly give the chief orchestrator of everything
Esther Okoronkwo didn't get player of the tournament or CAF player of the year lol

The Algerian coach is the highest paid. Even Fae earns more than Chelle.
