We have a substitution problem. I always wonder why they take too long to notice that osayi can't last the whole of 90 minutes.
At the same time Simon has no business playing some of the matches he has featured in at this tournament. Lastly, why we don't make use of all 5 of our subs knowing that we have an established way of playing.
It was obvious Simon came in to defend on the wing. Make una dey try read match na.

A decent midfielder but is he a Nigerian?

@emboldened... Good. You can reserve yours. But dont make it look like others dont know what they are saying when they come out to boldly declare the current tactical quality of our team. Dont pour cold water on the tactical insights, or projections or show of faith others showed prior to where we are now at this Afcon.

Truidstarr and BankyGee are 2 monikers out of a few that believed in Eric Chelle from day 1 of his appointment. They always stood their ground and said Chelle was the right choice even when time after time, analysts like me and theGoodJoe kept knocking him and his tactical rigidity at the time for the 442 most especially.
TheGoodJoe and I would support Chelle ofcos every match day but we would always and always point out the glaring tactical deficiencies we noticed. We were not fully convinced and rightly so.

I personally have always been wary of Chelle initially due to his persistence with the 442 even when I felt he showed some potential. He was trying to work out a diamond but it most times turned out flat. But I always did say he was a manager who learnt from mistakes. E.g. Benching Ekong for Frederick and Rotating certain personnel to either upgrade or check a position.

But you see, it is rather at this Afcon immediately after I saw Chelle deploy the 4-3-1-2 diamond/christmas shaped setup vs Tunisia in a distinct manner that finally made all my months of dissecting, criticising certain of his tactics, knocking few decisions and more, finally make sense, that I came to a major stop at the conclusion that he is indeed like Truidstarr and Bankygee have been saying. He is the One. He is a coach that improves and he will only get better.

This is Chelle's 3rd year as an international manager heading to year 4 and he is still 48.

I am convinced now but it does not mean I still wont point to one or two improvements we can still make as a team.

In conclusion, while you wait for a title before you acknowledge greatness, some actually have the careful or analytical foresight to see it before a title is bagged. Or some just show faith based off info they somehow saw differently than anyone else.
This Super Eagles team is on course and is forging a strong identity again and we dont need a title first to acknowledge this fact. The Title will only "FURTHER" validate the quality that we already see manifesting strongly before our eyes.
I'm being cautious doesn't mean I didn't recognize the overall tactical improvement and quality of our team.
I did acknowledge the team's greatness so far but it would only make more sense to me when they cap it up with this trophy .
And i strongly believe we can do it.

I've been disappointed so many times when I thought this it,choosing stay cautious does not in any way suggest pessimistic outlook at all.

I was one of the few who stood with the team few days when the Congolese knocked us out of the world cup and argued the team could still win the AFCON.

I wasn't trying to pour ice water on your tactical insights, you are doing great.
I'm only saying my joy will be full when I see the trophy.

For now,I'm more interested on what and what to do in order to get past the Moroccans, especially in the absence of Ndidi.
Between Onyedika and Onyeka, who is better to sit deeper.
How to get Osimhen and Akor to be more clinical.

In every team, some will take the spotlight, others will be working silently in the background. Frank and Ajayi are two guys who are just doing their beat quietly.

There was one block Ajayi made yesterday, if that ball had gone past him, we would have been in trouble
Ajayi is one cool headed warrior in the team. I'm very happy he has a goal in this AFCON.

Day light robbery it was. Henry Nwosu had scored through a header but was wrongfully adjudged offside and then Eguavoen's charge on Rodger Miller was given as a penalty.

It was a bitter pill for us to swallow then. On came the 2000 AFCON final played in Lagos and again we were robbed. angry
Sad Officiating at Maroc 88 finals by the Mauritanian referee allegedly influenced by Issa Hayatou.
It was Sunday Eboigbe wearing Number 15 jersey not Austin Eguavoen who might have been wearing Number 12 that brought down Roger Milla.

Ugochukwu isn't a Togolese name either but we know his case. I don't bank on any player born outside Nigeria, I don't even see them as options for Nigerian especially if they are doing well.

Been on this lad's case since he was a teenager. Now 22 and did well for himself in Austria. Anyway, he is very decent but will need a switch of allegiance. Repped Danish U21s officially.

Iwobi brought out his A game to this tournament reminiscent of how Mikel brought his at 2013 edition, hopefully he would come back smiling with the trophy like Mikel did.

Has Midfield of Iwobi,Onyedika and Onyeka started game for us before in a competitive match?

I trust Akinsanmiro is learning from the Iwobi masterclass at this AFCON. Brains over brawn.

The midfield has finally found a rhythm and balance which has clearly rubbed off on our attack

Morroco has an excellent counter press. The close down the opposition once the lose the ball. Onyedika is quite comfortable receiving balls under pressure. Iwobi and Onyedika will be key to our build up play.

Our next match is on Wednesday. Morocco played a day before us, hence will have a day of rest more than us, yet we will be the ones to travel from the city we played our last match to go meet them in the city they played their last match?

We have a day less to rest, yet we will also be the travellers? Nna this arrangement get as e be oo. 😟😟

Be very careful o
You are not afraid of cards and laser lights?
Those so.re losers will do everything illegal to win
Like delaying our players direct movement to Rabat
From a hostile stadium atmosphere (which will include whistling at our players, the use of lasers, jeering), to delay tactics by the Moroccan players to the spectators & Moroccan players pressuring the referee,i still have no fear.
The SE have actually played a better brand of football than the Moroccans throughout the duration of this tournament (which has actually come as a huge surprise to me).
Infact,i believe if the SE play with thesame high tempo they have played at in their five games, they will win Morocco with no qualms.
No pressure at all.I am very relaxed for this game

And I'm hearing they aren't even allowed to travel directly to Rabat. They were asked to go back to Fez then come to Rabat later. Straight slimeball antics. They've supported us right until we're about to face them. Now they'll show us their true colors.

Alright. All points noted.

Now between Onyedika and Onyeka, Onyedika is the one to sit deeper and more central but alongside Onyeka, both will also form a double pivot in addition to Onyeka RCMing.
Iwobi continues in his deep LCM role as well.

Despite all the talk about superb facilities this particular Afcon competition is poorly organised in terms of schedule and logistics for the teams how can you be going to another city where you’re not playing your next game

Nigeria have two strong potential for MVP and it's Osimhen and Lookman..Iwobi need goals to compete and remember Mikel lost it to Patsil of Burkina Faso,Mikel with a goal would have won it but I want Osimhen to get the golden boot
Rodri won balon dor without too many goals
Vinicius didn't show up for Brazil at the copa which made that award accurate to me
I think Iwobi deserves it because every defense splitting pass comes through him
I think the mvp should be a strictly technical award
Oh well who knows what CAF. will do

Or they could have just stayed in Marrakesh and continue training before leaving for Rabat...

But Na so dem dey do....

If you observed well, most CAF organised tournaments are scheduled such that the host country has all the support and comfort...their schedule is such that they are guaranteed to play all their games in one stadium...

But I trust our guys...they are used to such hostile atmosphere
