I'm so glad that GCI is being restored to greatness with the effort of the alumni. A very good school back then and our good neighbours. We had a lot to do together.

I attended Queen's School.

My granddad who was a cocoa farmer sent a daughter of his to school, and she got pregnant.

He swore never to send another daughter to school and he kept to his word for decades.

Eventually, he relented like any good dad would and sent another of his daughters to school. She too got pregnant.

Such is life! grin grin grin grin grin

I am in full support of female education.
Something else may be responsible for what was happening to his daughters. Hope he didn't offend anybody in the village huh

I'm not the superstitious type.

They were just unfortunate.

The first one that got pregnant married the man who did so.

She died during the childbirth of either her third or fourth child. Her death devastated her mum (my grandma) and she died within a year from grief. My dad was around 15 at the time. A mama's boy.

I never met her.

The younger sister of the one that died had fertility issues. My dad wanted to pay for an operation that would rectify the problem.

Her father threatened to deal with my dad should anything happen to her during the surgery.

My dad washed his hands off. She must be around 70 now. No child

In 1929, some areas of Niger are dealing in Potopoto while others deal in all sorts nonsense but Ibadan's got a College.
