TheGoodJoe:We are talking about the basics and the fundamentals. This is primary education. So your interpretation of John Stones movements is that formation is not important, and yet he returns back to his primary position. Things won't be hard if we stick to the basics and build from there. Let us not overcomplicate things. Confusion is not a good companion. |

If club really want you, there won't be any unnecessary long talks. Congrats, Sule.

FiveFootNinja:we have been on such highs before. DRC is a recent example. If we fall we will dust ourselves up, accept the bronze, share our heartache on losing (with reduced activity here for the next 3 weeks) and return to normal activity discussing about the next qualifiers in the pipeline to play whether its next year's afcon or 2030 WCQ. |

Amedino99:Nah I don't think DRC is a good example. I remember many people were skeptical about that game. They weren't this confident. And it seems their fears were confirmed. People were more confident going into the Gabon game because it was general knowledge that their defense at the time get as e be, even though they had dangerous attackers. A recurring sentiment prior to the DRC game was that DRC had a stronger defense and midfield and would likely dominate, which they did. Plus we were still in that phase where we were prone to so many errors and blunders at the back. |

ThunderFireAgba:This is funny. Some players don't need the ball to influence a game. Zubimendi is an example. Iwobi does it to an extent. All Iwobi needs to do is to create space with his movement while Lookman drops deep and voila! |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:57pm On Jan 13 |
Meliforme:No one is running down formation but what is most important is knowing when to make tactical adjustments over being stuck to rigid position. Football is now more fluid than ever. The point is simple and Finidi was 100% right. |

TheSuperNerd:This post gave me chills. That statement is straight from the books of Oliseh and I can't help but reflect on the picture of Oliseh with Chelle in camp. I hope Chelle is not listening to that Oliseh's give them the ball and take the win talk. If Chelle tries it, Nigeria will be cooked. Chelle should stick to his philosophy. That is what has gotten him this far and will take him to the cup. |

Mujtahida:Baba, that thing wey Chelle talk na premium bobo and whinning. Coaches get sweet mouth and when dem dey find work, dem go talk wetin go sweet your belle Coaches by the nature of their job of being hired and fired are mercenaries and have no loyalty to any employer except where there's an overriding conflict of interest. For example, the NFF sent feelers to Pitso Motsimane of South Africa to know if he'd be interested in coaching the Super Eagles when Finidi resigned, and he declined saying Nigeria and SA were in the same WCQ group, and he could not work against the interest of South Africa. Tom Saintfient the current coach of Mali said he has been following the Super Eagles for a long time, and it was his dream job. But guess what, he also said same about Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Africa and Mali at different times when he was seeking their managerial jobs. Despite the top quality and better talent at his disposal in the Super Eagles, if Tunisia approaches Eric Chelle with a better offer, hin no go think am twice before hin go resign from his Naija role. You know why? Better structure and organization, timely salary payment and world cup participation. In fact, if I be Etic Chelle agent, I go advise am say make him take the Tunisia job. Make we no forget say Peseiro resigned as Super Eagles coach only to take up the job of coaching Zamalek. |

FiveFootNinja:doesn't have to be on a similar level to be true. The disappointment from the DRC match was too much that the contributions on this thread reduced drastically after the match and people only returned after a week or two. And if we lose? It will be business as usual to be fair. We have been to 3 afcon and also missed two afcon since our last triumph. We have been to the final, semi final, fell out in the last 16. We just hope the reality follows expectation this time around. |
