To anyone feeling sad about canceling their travel plans to the USA, consider what could happen to you in today's America if you were there on a visit, only to wind up getting grabbed by intensely racist ICE agents, and then shipped off in handcuffs to El Salvador's prison of no return simply because you neglected to carry your passport with you at all times.

The ICE Gestapo can spot a foreigner even before that person speaks with an accent that is not 100% American. If white women from Canada holding all necessary immigrant papers for the USA could get arrested and locked up to spend months in ICE concentration camps because they left America briefly, but then got nailed at the airport when returning to America, think of how much worse the outcome could be if the foreigner being arrested was a black African man.

You could not pay me a million dollars to set foot in today's America, and any person from Africa who is lamenting their inability to visit America now should just count their blessings and visit somewhere safer like Canada or Europe, where there are no secret police authorized to snatch people out of the broken windows of their cars, and spirit them off into concentration camps.

If Donald Trump does not want Nigerians setting foot in America, at least be grateful that Trump is willing to bomb the living crap out of Islamist terror mobs that make everyday life so perilous in Nigeria. Hopefully the world will witness more generous bombardment of terrorist targets in Nigeria by the US military in the coming months.

Blanket suspicion and stricter controls are often the downstream consequence of unchecked exploitation.

I’m also a strong believer that people fleeing their countries should channel more energy into fixing what is broken at home. No system, including America’s, has infinite capacity. There is always a threshold to what any country can absorb.

That said, I’ve seen claims that this current restriction or “pausity” mainly affects immigration visas, not tourist or student visas. If that distinction is accurate, it’s an important clarification. Can someone here confirm or expand on that?
