@emboldened... Nwabali got us a chance to gain the psychological edge in the shootouts but the Chuks miss threw it away.

It is well. We move on. We must build on this.
What was even more painful was the manner in which he took the penalty..
Dude just passed the ball to Bono, chewing and blowing gum like a roadside ashawo..

He should pick himself up though
We need everybody

Abeg make we see Akinsanmiro, Usman, Fago and others in the next game

We pressed them with Osimhen, Lookman and Akor what game were you watching?
Systematic press is not with three players. In a back four, three players are totally outnumbered with a goal keeper.

And, the defenders of Morocco had a field day. I never saw any of them troubled during build up. It was towards the end we saw some pressing life.

Onyedika couldn't carry out Ndidis defensive responsibilities
there was no aspect of that role he displayed well at all

Looked lost and slow

We sat back. What stopped us from pressing the Moroccans when they were with ball. How many times did you see us pressing the defenders when they were with ball.

This is indefensible.
Sat back ke? You sure say you watched de match?

Our system and pattern were countered by the Moroccan coach ,our coach didn't have alternative . He has tried let him continue the job he needs to work on having tactical changes levels. The strength of the Moroccan is midfielders,if we came with Plan the game would have change

TheSuperNerd:
Onyedika was already doing that and his main receiver, Iwobi was always swamped. So he withdrew. This is also simple.

You cannot blame Onyedika without also pointing out Iwobi's struggles today which resulted in us not dominating the middle.
The main reason Iwobi withdrew was to help build play, he was seen playing even deeper than Onyedika, what does that tell you.
Iwobi wouldn't have played deeper if Onyedika was not failing in his duties.

Onyedika let us down.
There is no way anyone can sugarcoat this.

This current Super Eagles generation feels like the England national team of the 2000s.

Insane individual talent. Some of the best players in the world at the time.
Can dominate teams when they really mean business
But...
Hardly any major trophies won
Struggle to qualify for major tournaments
Terrible during penalty shootouts

Painful
I was shouting in my parlour, " Osimhen shake it off, it's just 3 minutes!"
But then his replacement actually scored

I pray the knock is not a serious one

Today proved me right as always

Also, I've been warning them about Chukwueze since 2018/2019

How do players handle wrong refereeing during games? Even I as a spectator was already boiling with the wrong calls.
It's demoralizing
I was even afraid Bruno was going to get a card when he lashed out at that Moroccan winger for kicking him

The boys did well abeg
Morocco for all their so called domination didn't have any clear cut chance..

Just half chances and shots from outside the 18

TheGoodJoe:

I don't think that was the problem. The Moroccans didn't score.

The problem was us not given ourselves chance to win the game by putting the Moroccans under pressure when they had the ball.
The Moroccans didn’t score because our defence and keeper was top notch!

The middle was where we lost the game as we couldn’t progress the ball much. Nididi does both defensive and attacking duties flawlessly allowing Iwobi to roam as he like but onyedika was slow in decision making that he has to be passing backwards most of the time

NIGHTMARE0O7:
I said it before that man is not good tacktically they wanted to roast me.
This match was begging for Chukwueze or ejuke in the flanks becoz the midfiled was already choked denying iwobi is free passes.
Would he would hav done is chnge tactics put chuks on the flanks the slow down morroco pressing. He refused and instead used delebashiru. A maych that begging for a skillful winger.

Then match ended he put chukwueze he he has already messed up his confidence with benching to go play penalty as his first kick.
Lack of game confidence was why he missed.
The man dont like chukwueze it was asif he purposely want himto be the scapegoat
Well said , I was expecting Chukueze to come and run the flanks and make some crosses but coach brought in Bashiru to play as a winger . The coach is what we can afford , he is not a grade A coach but he is trying .

Please Chelle abandoned his system. He did not set up the team to press and fight for the ball in the opposition half
You are trying too hard to force his pre match presser into the outcome of the game.

We set up exactly the same way as our previous matches.

When i saw the moroccan 4-1-4-1 i knew trouble was coming to the party.
We will require long balls, but our long ball specialist failed woefully.

Raphael Onyedika is the most skilled passer of the ball in the current crop, but that is just a skill.
His footballing is not yet elite.

This tournament is now too hard o
And Nigerian politicians don't have any will to host any international sports competition
Hosting is a cheat to win

This is wickedness at its peak how can you sabotage a whole team because of playing time, yobo as a captain escorted the super eagles to win the afcon in South Africa he didn't play much he won the cup

Chukwueze have silver and bronze already if you're not getting game time why sabotage the team why not tell the coach you don't want to play, this is wickedness am just hurt.
I guess that's the new norm with dem. Watch Simon Moses own against DRC. He was brought in during the extra time and took part in the penalties, no effort, no power to play ball. If Chelle were to a Nigerian, I trust what he would do.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:42am On Jan 15
This is not an agenda against Iwobi but our midfield struggles today falls on him and Onyedika.

Onyedika struggled against the Moroccan press. He wont give us the Ndidi aggression, I already mentioned this in my analysis pregame. But he was expected to offer us a decent defensive cover at least and passing buildup base.

He partly carried out his duties but not in a great manner and also his buildup duties had to be altered as Alex was struggling too against the press whenever Onyedika gave him the ball.
Onyedika still defended when needed and used 2 tactical fouls to help the team. He also did drive us forward on 2 occasions.

Yes, he struggled but he was not all bad.

Iwobi also struggled in in duels and possession loss today like Onyedika.

Onyedika lost 2/12 duels in total, was dispossessed 2x.

Iwobi lost 2/10 duels in total and was dispossessed 3x.

It is Onyeka who gave us a fighting chance in the duels battle. He won 6/9 of his.

So you see.... it is just a pointer to how the game went.

I mean, Onyedika was subbed out and who were you expecting to come in? A suspended Ndidi? A young inexperienced Nnadi or Akinsanmiro who has only played a friendly? Who? Usman mohammed maybe...

So face the truth.

Papi85:
the way u cry foul over certain players will make one think if you are paid to hype them here maybe for national team recognition/call up, for God knows whatever agenda or purpose

No matter how bad Iwobi was today he wasn’t as half as bad as onyedika. This was a big chance for him to make a statement but onyedika disappointed big time

We allowed the Moroccans build from the back. We did not let other teams have such freedom.

Finito.

Chelle needs more time to build a formidable side
Especially with Benjamin, Chrisantus and others coming back
They need to increase the backroom staffs though
See Morocco have all types of specialized coaches, set pieces etc
Give this man contract till 2030? world cup
But this man dey stingy or delay subs sha
It was easy to spot that Adams was tired when he couldn't make accurate passes

Onyedika to me was not the problem. To me the problem was us not causing problems in the opposition areas. I believe with intensity and aggressiveness in our attack area, we would have excelled. That is where we would have created chances.
