If Nigerians that transact with naira are subject to tax, why should Nigerians who transact with digital currencies (crypto) not pay the same tax. Is crypto is special, untouchable case. I also believe this is not just about tax. Linking crypto transactions to National ID is a matter of National economic security. Under the previous administrations, coŕrupt politicians allegedly moved hundreds of millions of dollars of stolen government money out of the country via crypto making it difficult to trace. So it seems to me that as citizens of this country it is in all our mutual interest that movement of money out of this country can be tracked. The crypto avenue is a loophole that the government is trying to close. It is unfortunate that private individuals who are not involved in stealing government money will have to comply with the new requirement, however, the government is right to block the loophole for the thieves. |

DeLaRue:We all have free will, Government can use her powers to sanction and tax and over strangulate the masses. Hackers and scammers can create fake bank website and scam Europeans Sovereign individuals can evade tax, poke hole in the financial system, evade tax and financial slavery, we also have the freewill to call for the death of the current financial system in favor of a decentralized and transparent one so that leadership will not be motivated by financial gains. Imagine if Tinubu only received his 15m naira salary, no hidden stolen funds, no secret backdoor... Buhari stole N300,000,000,000,000, faked his death and retired to a private island. We have no idea how much is stolen daily. |

[4281849014quote author=seunmsg post=138127048]And what’s wrong with that? Do you know the number of people that perpetuate financial crimes through cryptocurrency? Crypto is here to stay and as such, government regulation is required. There are so much fraudulent activities going on through crypto as a result of the anonymity and lack of regulation. Normal petty criminals steal from people on the P2P platforms, yahoo boys and corrupt government officials use crypto for money laundering purposes. So, every sensible person should support the move to put an identity on all crypto users.[/quote]That is not why the govt is taxing Crypto. All the reasons u listed are not valid. Tax is tax. If all ur reasons are true, then why is there money laundry law invogue in the country? Corrupt govt officials use fiats too,419 people also use and that isn't the reason why govt is taxing us but for their own revenue reasons. |
