Baba, it is true.

I was on Oma Akatugba TikTok live session after the squad release and I asked this question, and Oma confirmed it, and even justified Maduka decision saying based on club and form, Maduka should be #1 and shouldn't be chopping bench for a goalkeeper in the South African league.
I dey chop eba. E get one epistle wey I wan write. Make I finish fiery

Every Afcon looks like we will win but we never win. It's even better we drop out early than to be sailing on this dream only to fail at the critical stage.

This set of Super Eagles players don't have luck.
this once just resume their ill-luck from 2019….see that set of 2002 down to 2010, i never see team wey get badluck for afcon pass those ones🤣, those ones and semifinal are 5 & 6…the only positive from that set is that dey usually qualify for the world cup

Chai
Omo!
If we win Egypt in normal time, we go to 24th, that's good considering we're climbing from 38th. And with Chelle and consistency, we'll slowly climb up.

People just dey talk nonsense, even with the draw/loss to Morocco, we still had a +6.2 added to our coefficient, which shows the big gap between our ranking spot/coefficients and theirs, losing on penalties and still having a positive coefficient.

Make people dey talk like say na Somalia we play yesterday, if Morocco wins this AFCON in regulation time, they will come close to equaling our record of being the highest ranked African team ever or even break it...

Osayi had to pass a late fitness test to play the game yesterday. I heard it from some foreign analysts, in fact, in the game against Algeria dude was limping to complete that game.

My point is, Aina can't simply walk into our starting line-up easily again; he has to fight for that shirt now, and the team is looking more competitive as we now have more options. Who would have thought that a whole Chukwueze will chop bench tire at this afcon. Na this overhype of some certain players dey affect us at times, see the Onyedika we thought was class, now we know he can't displace Ndidi easily. Aina is welcome back anytime, but he must earn it now.
Oga Goke, una don start Osayi wey una no rate until Mozambique match,na only me dey defend the guy even before Afcon started...well a fit Aina will bench Osayi.

HAS RASHIDI YEKINI EVER MISSED A PENALTY KICK FOR NIGERIA OR HIS CLUB SIDE? NO.

HIS PENALTY KICKS ARE HIT HARD, FIRM AND DECISIVE LEAVING THE GOALKEEPER NO OPTION TO SAVE IT.

HIT IT FIRM, HARD AND DECISIVELY.

DIRECT, ASSERTIVE EXECUTION OVER FINESSE OR PLACEMENT.

GOING FORWARD, NIGERIA MUST ADOPT THIS APPROACH.

PRIORITISE POWER AND CONVICTION OVER DECEPTION.

grin osayi was never a player I talked about here before afcon as he was never on my radar, and funny enough, I was one of those who started mentioning how the player did well against Tunisia when many still like Delaw, still doubted him (with their valid views). If Aina is better, he has to show it on the pitch, no cap, cos with what Osayi has done in this Afcon we no go accept anything lesser than that performance in that role, that's my point. No be by name any player go bench anyone for Eagles again. Lest we forget, Zaidu was still a starter in our first game in this AFCON. Today, he has lost his place.

There is nothing Aina want to show than fitness.Osayi overall performance wasn't better than Aina performance in the last Afcon abi you don forget ni baba...Aina does it at RB and even as LB in the last Afcon...Osayi had not raised any bar relating to performance as RB,is like telling us Bruno has raised the bar too....I gave it to Calvin Bassey and he will be missed against Egypt

No one denies what Aina did last Afcon, but going forward, we should always let our players do the talking for themselves on the pitch. Ekong did so much last Afcon, too; he was even the man of the tournament. That Aina has nothing to show but fitness can't just be the criterion anymore.

Most foreign analysts are full of praise for both Bruno and Osayi, and that says a lot. Perhaps these guys were actually far better than what most Nigerians actually thought. Even Ajayi wey many of us no rate, has been highly commended too.

I am just smiling at the prospect of Benjamin Frederick's return to the RCB role in Chelle's 4312/442 diamond. Chisos! It is earth-quaking.

In this setup, this pair would easily morph into possibly the most press resistant CB pair in Africa. We will invite your press and beat through and around u like u dont exist.

You have these two and buildups takes a new dimension from the back as Benjamin can not only intercept danger early but also drive into space and break lines himself.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am already in 2027 Afcon. I can see the first game play out.

This team is in its prime. They will touch the final in 2027 as long as Chelle is retained. By 2027, Chelle would be nearly 2.5yrs in the Super Eagles job. The Soaking will be complete before Afcon 2027.

IMHO, our current back 4 now have a solid chemistry. I am not denying the fact that Aina and Fredericks will give us better options when they move forward to support the attack. It would be a blessing to have them back. Those are the kind of players you need when you are talking of plan A and B, regardless of who starts. We have depth in defense. As soon as we can say the same for the midfield, we are set for the world stage.

You said Osayi raised the bar and I disagree, telling you a fit Aina will get back to eagles starting XI with ease based on the two abilities,no sentiment....I never doubtef Semi Ajayi for once like many here, even Osayi,it was here some started rating Alebiosu and said only Osayi can do it but talking eagles RB,Aina is the main man, even eagles players missed Aina and Frederick, anyway good to have solid squad

I hope they keep Chelle for stability sake
Regragui is 4 years on the job
A new coach means starting afresh with new model or identity
Chelle just needs to add plan B & C, instead of building up through Iwobi
He also needs assistance particularly in 2nd half in game management
Morocco kept Regragui despite South Africa loss in last Afcon
East Africans can’t win the next Afcon right now so that turf will be a neutral ground

TheGoodJoe, I know you said you have accepted the ref disrupted our pressing game and rhythm again and again but kindly see this compilation done by Kurotams of FootballFanstribe.

Just leaving it here for the records and to show that bad officiating consistently ditched out moments after moments and after moment in a game does affect a team's rhythm, flow, momentum and gameplan.

International commentators even asked.... "where was the foul?" in the Simon vs Hakimi battle on the left.

Note: I have left this plane but I drop these here as evidence so no one will come tell us months from now that the ref didnt impact how the game went.

They kept him after the SA loss because they knew it would be foolish to let go of Walid just 1.2 yrs after he led them to the World Cup Semis. Walid took over Morocco few months to the World Cup in 2022.

In 2027, no North African team will survive the wrath of the West African super powers. Nigeria will still present a Prime Team but this time, I predict a full strength team with no injuries keeping away any of the starters and 1st choice subs. But most importantly, a retained Chelle and his crew would have had time to further polish this 4312/442 diamond into a setup that sees us able to unleash chaos from various attacking sequences or approaches. A setup with enough backup plans and fall back formation switches to keep us dynamic and hard to figure out for all oppositions.

That was the News then, so what was Oma trying to paint with that his Reply,

Which agreement? You Maduka fanboys are terrible people and will never accept the truth about your fav even when it stares you in the face.

Oma Akatugba is the sports journalist who brought Maduka Okoye to limelight when he was playing in Fortuna Dusseldorf II in the German 3rd division and promoted him to Gernot Rohr who extended Super Eagles invitation to him. Oma is based in Germany and is close to Maduka and his family, and knows him well.

Oma even got into an online spat with another sports journalist MikeThePundit on X who called him out for promoting Okoye to the National team and Okoye's decision.

Below is an excerpt from Leadership newspaper on the Maduka issue.

https://leadership.ng/why-okoye-moffi-arokodare-others-were-left-out-of-super-eagles-afcon-squad/

A member of Chelle’s backroom staff revealed that Okoye made it clear he would only be available for the tournament if guaranteed the first-choice position.

The coaching crew, however, reportedly rejected such conditions, with Chelle insisting that all players must earn their place through competition.

Udinese also communicated their position to the NFF, indicating that the club was unwilling to release Okoye for the tournament if he was not assured of a starting role, citing concerns over losing him for up to three weeks without regular playing time.

With no guarantees offered, Chelle opted to include Francis Uzoho, who had been on standby, while maintaining confidence in Stanley Nwabali, who has since been declared medically fit.
Una fav Maduka Okoye tried to blackmail Chelle and sabotage our AFCON campaign and should never be invited to the Super Eagles ever again. EOD.

Defence looks set already, and there are others like Chibuike Nwaiwu whom the Trabzonspor fans are waxing lyrical about from his debut I presume

And there are others like Emmanuel Uchenna, Vince Osuji | CB | 19yo
🇳🇬 Honest Ahanor | CB | 17yo
🇳🇬 Endurance Alade | CB | 20yo
🇳🇬 Benjamin Frederick | RCB | 20yo
🇳🇬 Emmanuel Okereke | RCB | 22yo

All in their prime age to add to our CB depth and assuredly led by a colossus like Bassey.

Question remains, what about our midfield? Are we going to keep depending on Ndidi and Iwobi all the time (both players are our veteran leaders but are in their twilight years as they approach their 30's and won't pack the same mileage as younger players)...I wonder who those younger midfield prospects ready to deputize Iwobi, Ndidi and even Onyeka. Hopefully we get to see more of Nnadi and Akinsanmiro against Egypt on Saturday sha.
