An unpopular opinion.... based on what I saw of Bassey, that guy was just throwing long range missiles to their intended target. Isn't it time we tried him as a defensive midfielder....?

You shock? Cos the way I see it, he will do well. He has the physicality. Comfortable on the ball and his delivery has been spot on. Reminds me of Sunday Oliseh and his long range assists and passing.

Might not be a bad idea hey? At least he won't be muscled off the ball

Before you eat me alive, please read the opening statement
you are very correct , his passes were accurate ...pinpoint passes .sent many to Akor Adams , even to Moses simon . But God done give us Maldini . why u want turn am to Yaya Toure ?

Benjamin vs Rwanda WCQs benching Ekong

Benjamin, a CB so good he had to play at RB 3x.

Benjamin vs Gabon WCQs playoffs.

Benjamin vs DRC in the WCQs playoffs final. The best defender vs DRC in the playoffs when others went to sleep in the second half till end of extra time. He didnt earn your respect then? Kaaaiii na wa for the amnesia for this thread.
My response was to Goke7 who said Aina must earn our respect and I said Benji too must earn our respect abi....Benji na my boy wey dey under my very good friend Aloy Chuckwueneka in Ilorin then....When he got his invitation I said it here the boy is starting but many said he lacked the experience...my response na sarcasm

It will be a bigger thank you if we get the third place tomorrow."

When I say Chinedu Ughelumba you should know I was talking about Bassey. There is no other Chinedu in that team. Chinedu Ughelumba is his government name given to him from birth. Bassey is a recently adopted name, in honor of his maternal home. No man uses his mother's surname as his own surname unless he was born out of wedlock and the father isn't known. So, yes I was talking about Ughelumba Calvin Chinedu "Bassey", the son of Ikenna Ughelumba and Eberechi Ughelumba.
But wetin dey happen between the boy and him papa, they need to settle

Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is a first teamer at Pisa and very important to his team.
He left his club just to warm the bench at AFCON.

I pray that the confidence of neglected players won't take a hit.
And Ejuke too, sitting on the bench most of the times.

This is nonsense you are typing Charles. Benjamin Frederick is also a starter. I dont know what you are getting at but you better be more explicit and stop beating lazily around the point u are hiding.

The assured Starters in Super Eagles Defence are Aina, Benjamin, Bassey and Bruno.

This Benjamin disrespect will not fly here. You speak of mistakes as if the lad has not faced tough opposition already. And if he does makes a mistake, he wont be buried, he will learn and kick on.

Infact it is almost like you will be the first person to bury him when he makes a mistake coz he has not made any and you are already sounding like Benjamin was not our best defender pre-Afcon.

Papi85:
all of them don dey talk about Fredrick’s now until the boy do one small mistake now they will come for his head forgetting that he is a young player who still needs time to fully develop

Even Ogbu have not enough chance to show what he can do in that position too

For now in super eagles defense line the only assured starters are Aina, Bassey and Bruno full stop
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 1:23am On Jan 17
Let me also add that I know you waited throughout this tournament to have a go at certain players.

Onyedika is one. Nwabali is another. While some of us try to analyse our team to make it better, your own is to target players you dont like and tear them down.

You saw a chance with Onyedika and when it was pointed out that Iwobi was also guilty of losing balls and duels like Onyedika, you tried to make it look like it is an agenda against Iwobi when it was not.

On Nwabali, you saw no chance. I see your comments every game on Nwabali. Nothing good to say. Even against Morocco, did you finally humbly eat your words?? No, you kept mute. You refused to acknowledge how well Nwabali handled the pressure of the semis, making top saves and even showing up in the penalties with at least a save.

But you will bide your time so that you namedrop Maduka Okoye again.

Now it is Benjamin Frederick you are coming for. A lad who has been excellent since day 1 and came in at a time in the WCQs where pressure was at its highest and where any mistake could cost us the chance of a playoffs spot. This lad was brilliant through it all and was our best at the back even in the presence of Bassey. This is the same lad you talk down now as one not counted as a starter. As one who you are also stylishly waiting to see make a mistake.

See ehn, just grow up. The way you talk football is vile sometimes.

Papi85:

The guy you quoted reflects the typical Nigerian mentality: wait till he makes a mistake or mistakes then use that to nail him to the "shebi i tell you" cross...meanwhile ignoring the fact that a 20 year old made his debut in a mini tournament with all the pressure that came with it and performed exceptionally well at the unity cup, and then went on to debut at the world cup qualifiers/playoffs in very physically demanding conditions and showed he truly belonged.

I wonder what else is there to prove that we have unearthed our elite defence with Bassey/Benjy, and we are winning an AFCON between 2027/28 editions with those colossus in defence.

Please there's a particular player I've noticed in our team that has been hiding under the radar and I can't even pkint to one or 2 good games he has had for us. I also feel the said player should be gradually phased out - Chidozie Awaziem

We need an inclusion of new talents in that CB. Because Awaziem has to go, together with Semi Ajayi (this one don try)

Semid4lyfe, mujtahida, how you take see am?
Awaziem was brought in because of the injury to Benjamin. He's been on the fringes of the team for a long time. I'm not sure he was even at the last Afcon.

Ajayi is still part of the team. He performed well during this Afcon.

Omoh this video just shows you the reality of how Nigeria has been a dominant force in male football in the last 30 years in Africa, so many podium finishes, I don’t know why luck has not shined on us, we should have at least 10 AFCON, such an unlucky team super eagles have been.

Very unlucky…

He joins from Mavlon Academy, Nigeria.

NK Istra also has Salim Fago Lawal (at Afcon 2025), Israel Isaac Ayuma and Charles Agada.

Chelle really gave good vibes listening to his response on building the team post AFCON. He knows we have a strong first 11 but his focus now is on building the team's depth so that injuries/suspensions wouldn't disrupt the performance/rhythm of the team.

NFF please do that needful and give him a contract extension. The man loves the job.

Abi no be here Dem dey write say Lookman dey sabotage the team, even said Lookman deficiency is more than his good work to the team, funny from a reputable contributor here, how many people challenged that reckless opinion...I stood my ground cuz I knew it was just cuz of Osimhen/Lookman spat.....on Chuckwueze I will never blame him, penalty you scored or failed to score... Chelle to be blamed...yes Semi and Bassey lost against Congo but i will force one of them to play especially Bassey cuz nobody will blame Bassey for anything in this tournament.
He didn't say Lookman was sabotaging the team. He gave insight to what will make Lookman a better player.
