You’re right that it is not about this topic specifically but things like Sharia Law have no place in a secular state like Nigeria
This is a ban by a tradtional ruler, not by the government. Whether they would follow it or not, na their business.

Plus, sharia is part of how true federalism would look like in reality. As much as I don't like it. ALso, remember that customary law is not enforced in the North too. You guys only talk about true federalism when it comes to oil money things...it applies to stuff like that too.

Finally, I doubt the emir has the means to enforce the law anyway. Oba of Benin banned cultisim, yet cultisim is sitll a problem in Edo state.

And on a tangent, most western music is basically promoting things that a lot of religious people don't like. (As a christian for some time, I have read pastors both overseas and at home complain about the rubbish in some western music, and even call it ungodly).

The northern elite is not doing enough to educate its youth. They have the highest rate of children out of school and those children are ripe for radicalization…
And in the South East, a lot of youth are dropping out of secondary schools to become apprentices

Also, na all your leaders fault, North and South. The people you voted for and allowed to run your country chose to run an oil dependent economy.

Guess what an oil dependent economy does? It wrecks all other sources of economic developement, especially industries. LIke now in the North the textile industry is gone thanks to overimportation over the decades.

That means no jobs. Even southerners are shouting up and down on this site that education na scam. North is very poor...so why should a Northerner send his child to school, only to graduate and get no job? After wasting all that money?

Even government job, if they removed corruption and made it merit based, most people STILL won't get.

I tell you guys here, vote for leaders that would take hard decsions like allowing power companies to charge cost reflective tarrifs, so that we can have enough investment in the sector, more power, and also, more light and more power for industries...and jobs. Also, let's fight all corruption, not just the corrupt in government today, even the corruption of the past, and so forth. I have even shouted we study countries like japan and china. But because you guys think I am just supproting oppression, na agbero una dey call me.

E no easy to develop job creating economy...that is why you guys prefer people like TInubu.

We see the Katsina government freeing bandits under the guise of a peace deal.
Yes, and we saw government freeing millitants in the Niger delta, most of whom were stealing and are still stealing oil for their pockets, not even for their people.

And many people who claim to be biafranists support UGM and IPOB and say government should not jail them.

People like me that think that government should come down hard on bandits, boko, and other security problems are labelled harsh and evil, so what do you expect?

Nigerians support their own evil people...because y'all are too scared to fight evil. When the people of Katsina wake up, they can call me. Same for every part of this country.
Are these not elements that are dragging back the nation?
Nigeria's problems started when we thought we could live like the Saudis. Change that mindset, and we will see changes everywhere.

PLus banning western music does not drag a nation back. Refusing to vote for leaders who would make us more productive, that is what drags a nation back. Voting for leaders who people want to share money...that drags a nation back.

Its very funny..same illegal Rano Emirate making an order he has no right to take even if his seat was legal..no Traditional ruler has any power to dictate anything in Nigeria..the constitution is a Republican constitution..I gave government should stop paying them that illegal local government money..that also is against the spirit of the constitution.

Yes, that is the unintentional outcome of criticising the ban as 'muzlems being evil'..it essentially means that chrestians are saying that western immoral music is a christian value.

(Now of course, as a christian, I follow the principle of live and let live, which is what most christians here actually mean, that even though they may object to immoral western music, it should not be banned because they find it objectionale. MY RELIGION should not dictate other people's choices)

That's the resultant effect of supporting a Muslim Muslim ticket. They now believe Nigeria is an Islamic colony, all thanks to empty heads that keep voting them, only to turn back and be complaining.
Thank you very much for this your comment.
Re: Kano Emirate Bans Wetern Styled DJ Performance At Wedding And Social Gatherings by Dgift(f): 6:06pm On Jan 18
The music and the dj are not the issues
The main issue is man pleasing his flesh at the expense of his soul
We have a never dying soul solely controlled by a flesh that is dust and will ultimately return to the dust
You need a better place of rest for your soul
Heaven and hell are both real
Choose heaven and choose life
It's appointed unto men once to die
After that Judgement
Please accept Jesus Christ today

In 2011 I was part of the fresh corp members posted to that Rano Local government. That local government was one of the most volatile communities in Kano State. Is along Zaria-Kaduna highway.

Then we used to worship (NCCF) at Police station on Sundays due to fear of attack from those Rano Muslim extremists.

They can't read nor write. That's where you would see a boy of 14yrs old, already have 2 wives and many children. Those children have no parental care. Their job is to be going about with plate, begging for alms and food from one mtor park to another.

I spent good 6months before my redeployment clicked. That community was so backward in everything.

The only people that will be crying more than the bereaved are the same people who are supporting IPOB terrorists in their own land. They see nothing wrong with forcing people to sit at home on Mondays but will see what's wrong with others.

Good post and we actually agree on a number of things

With Western Music, that is not what the government should be focused on. We too like to major in minors.

I am all for actual leaders that will look to bring industry and economy to Nigeria but we don’t see enough of that.

You’re right in that Nigerians will support evil as long as it’s their person. That thinking needs to be eradicating.

I am also with you. Come down hard on any and all terrorists. Kill them like dogs and burn their bodies immediately. No sentiment or empathy for them. They should be made examples.

I do not think Sharia Law has any place in Nigerian society when we have a secular constitution. Let us kill that noise.

Overall, we have the same mind. Let’s actually develop and grow this country.

But I will stand on this until tomorrow, the North needs to secured and those children need to do things productive. This is where Nigeria needs a massive, labor intensive public works initiative that will put a lot of youth to work and build the nation.

There is a certain passivity you see in the North when it comes to their rulers/leaders. Even the British observed it as much when they came to colonize Nigeria

North and south Nigeria can no longer live in harmony and it's clear to see. It's time we all have a referendum to split Nigeria into 5 or 6 countries. We would agree to share the oil revenue for the next 15 years because, we have been together for 60 plus years. The 15 years will allow the individual countries enough time to build the necessary infrastructures it needs to survive, like major roads, ports, power stations, international airports, new smart well planned capital cities, etc. Also the south south will get the lion share of the split oil revenue, but after the 15 years elapses, no more oil sharing . Each country should finally now rely on their national resources and human capital etc. This will foster competition and development and it's the way to go as no one will feel left out or marginalised. We should share the same independence day of 1st Oct for the individual countries. Everyone would be happy. Our descendants will forever thank us. God bless 🙏🏼

Stop wasting your energy on these people, they live in their own world and should be allowed to do as they please the problem is they are dragging others into this and that's the big issue

Islam is fraud, hater of progress and happiness. Check where the emir childrens are studying. You will discover that all his children's are in school in UK and USA. Taken lecture from Christian teaches, even join in Bible leading, which his father the sharia leader is awear. The law is for the poor.

Hey hey hey calm down...... Too early to throw jabs. Anything western civilization, Boko Haram is against it. But those who banned these western DJ style music at event also ban beers and gambling plus adultery. Don't you think they are trying to advance morality in their society?

And if it's okay for their people in Kano fine, I can be protesting for them when they are okay with it.

Did the Emir ban western music in your village or city or where you live? If not, why are you complaining about Nigeria being islamic country.

Plus all this complaining about NIgeria being islamic country when christianity is growing in leaps and bounds here...despite the muslim muslim ticket self. Plus, we all know that if either Obi or atiku humbled themselves, Tinubu and shettima and APC would be retired by now, instead of ruling us. If all the christian leaders of PDP had run this country well, and not done corruption and more corruption, there would have been no Buhari or tinubu or any one of them ruling us.
Where did the Emir derive the power to ban western music in a circular country? Is the Emir now the House of Assembly that he will get up and make pronouncement?
Little wonder Nigeria was designated a Country of Particular Concern because of this terroristic tendencies as seen from the Emir.Una mumu too much for this country. You people should advocate for a break in this country so you can practice your terrorism in peace and nobody will disturb you guys.

Nigeria is not a circular country. It's a secular country.

He didn't ban it in your hometown though. Plus why does oyedepo do the banning of things like social media and so forth in his schools. Isn't Nigeria a secular country?

He didn't ban it in your village. Calm down old man.

Can you imagine the instances you cited? So Convenient University, a Citadel of Learning is now equated as a community of people? Yes Nigeria is a "circular" ( secular, since u don't know typo erros) country and not a terrorist country where one terrorist will wake up and dictate to people how to live their lives. There is no difference between the Emir and Bello Turji, and of course both of them are working assiduously to achieve one goal.
