No Second Term Endorsement For Adeleke In Ifeland – Ife Rep, Ajilesoro by press9jatv(op): 9:26am On Jan 20

The lawmaker representing Ife Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Assembly, Hon Taofeeq Ajilesoro, has said that nobody endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term from the ancient town.

Ajilesoro’s comment came following a statement by the spokesperson to the governor, Olawale Rasheed, that all the sixteen palace chiefs of the Ooni of Ife have endorsed Adeleke for a second term.

Rasheed had, in the statement, said the chiefs paid a courtesy visit to Governor Adeleke at the Government house and commended him for the remarkable developmental strides recorded under his administration.

The statement said the chiefs who were led by the Obalufe of Ife,
Oba Idowu Adediwura applauded Governor Adeleke for his people-centred leadership and visible achievements across the state.

Rasheed said Obalufe “stated that the people of Ile-Ife are proud of the governor’s accomplishments in the last three years and have collectively resolved to throw their full weight behind him by endorsing him for second term.”

However, Ajilesoro, while speaking at the Palace of Obalufe in a video obtained by osun.life, said the chiefs do not endorse Adeleke.

The lawmaker claimed that the APC gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, is the person who will be supported by the people of the ancient town.

He said, “Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji is our candidate in the All Progressives Congress and we will bring him to you.

“I know the Ile-Ife chiefs only went to greet Governor Ademola Adeleke. Our fathers will support whoever we are supporting, and we also promise to work for him and ensure that the votes from Ife favour us.”

Responding, the Obalufe said he would support whoever Ajilesoro and other sons of Ife supported.

“Our sons are back and we are going to support whoever they support,” Oba Adediwura stated.

In short, the Rep went to put pressure on the Obalufe to reverse himself on what he said at the governor's office.

The Rep is clearly on his own as Osun people won't allow Oyetola's return through his proxy, that served as finance commissioner when they were looting Osun money instead of paying owed salaries and pensions to workers and pensioners.

Ile Ife people are not stupid na .. simple Political Calculation shows that Oyebanji would have to run for two term again before it will become Ife and Iwo's turn .... even though they won't come out to support publicly out of respect for Mr President, they also know Politics is about interest, it's not personal.

APCs performance under Aregbesolas style generated so much hatred for the party. Unfortunately, Oyetola didn't fully mitigate the situation. Oyebamiji was the Finance Commissioner then which makes things worse for him. People still remember the half salary and non payment of gratuity and pension on schedule for so long.

Ajilesoro that has gone under. A useless person that rode on the mandate of Adeleke to become member of house of representatives. I trust my Ife people, they can never vote for APC especially with what they did to Omisore and two other constestants. Ajilesoro has ended his political journey so far he has defected to APC. The mantra in Ife currently to him is if he has exhausted the money Tinubu gave to defect to APC. He sold his destiny for 800m.
