When people compare Nigeria to another country like Senegal, it's because we ought to be miles ahead of them with the human capital we have at our disposal

The truth is this, this Nigerian team is still a work in progress and isn't there yet.

We always struggle with teams that sit back to defend and are very disciplined with their movement and sadly, our coach doesn't know how to respond to adverse situations tactically. He's a good coach but he isn't Zidane or Klopp.

I really want us to start organising friendly matches against top European teams because I believe this AFCON against low ranked African sides may have given us a false sense of satisfaction

Let us see where we truly are on the world stage. Let use see what Bassey would do against an Mbappe, Yamal, Desire Doue or Harry Kane.

Let's celebrate the improveme t but let's not get way over our heads. There's still a lot of work to be done

Nigeria can comfortably line up 2 different back fours now.

In midfield, we need to get the backup profiles sorted. Iwobi's backup still not sorted. Onyeka's too. Even Ndidi's as Onyedika should not be the one and only fallback option in Ndidi's absence as he still matures.

More Midfield options to consider specifically for the diamond setup are Akinsanmiro for Iwobi's role, David Moses of Slavia Prague for Onyeka's role, Nnadi and Dennis for Ndidi's role, and much more options touching all the midfield roles in the diamond.

In attack... Lookman needs a solid backup. The 4312/442 diamond sees Lookman sit in the hole behind the strikers but also has the license to roam across the entire final third seeing him pop up dangerously across in gaps centrally, in the halfspaces or wingwards.
Who steps into this role when Lookman sits it out for even one game? Chukwueze is an option but we need more.

The 2 man attack.. Osimhen and Akor... We need 4 solid options aside Victor and Adams. Badass options. CF combos that sync nicely and can possibly sync with the main man Victor.

The Project Solid 22 is on.

Curiously you didn't mention Chrisantus Uche for the midfield. Is it that he doesn't fit anywhere in our midfield set up?

By the way, I don't like players like Dele Bashiru who have no clear and defined roles. Much like how several coaches found it hard to deploy Iheanacho towards the twilight of his national team career.
