forgiveness:You perfectly summed up the myopic mentality of Nigerian football administrators. Always looking to reap where they didn't sow. |

I've seen torrent of condemnation poured on Morocco in the wake of the AFCON final. Many of these criticisms are justified but like I say, when we condemn the bad conduct of a man, let us also remember his good side. Many people attack Morocco saying that they don't see themselves as Africans yet this same Morocco with all the huge financial outlay it requires, has come to bail out CAF several times offering to host CAF events and tournaments when other African countries hide in the shadows like cowards. See our Nigeria cannot even bid not to talk of hosting youth tournaments. Morocco gave us the most spectacular Afcon tournament yet. We thank them. But they should note that hosting does not mean you must win. It was that desperation egged on by a sheepish CAF that led to the event of last Sunday, which almost ruined an otherwise colorful and delicious footballing event. Truly in Afcon, we play different. This tournament is somehow beginning to have more jazz than other footballing events - it offers you color, vibe, drama, conflict, high, low. It's epic. It's African footballing cinema for global viewership. I've watched a couple of Afcons. Afcon wasn't like this before. Something happened in 2023. Afcon feels different now. The quality of the football is of a high caliber. Even teams of low pedigree display tactical acumen and tenacity. African football is growing. Afcon is ours. Let us enjoy it. Let us protect it. |

Mehn. Brahim Diaz. Hmmm.... So it is true? I saw a vid. Well, if it is then I respect his mental strength and willingness to be the fall guy/sacrificial lamb in Morocco's failure. Morocco deserves to lose all the same. Football won. Case closed. |

Papi85:1. He didn't list any source at all. 2. No reputable sports outlet has reported on it. So obviously it's fake. If it's not, then the burden of proof is on him to prove it's not fake. |

Papi85:"Approached" is a loose term. If we are truly scouting, we should see these players in our youth setups or invited to friendlies much earlier. Being "approached" is easy. Showing a long-term vision for their international career is where we fail. |

TheSuperNerd:Everyone can reasonably argue for their position on this thing. The expected reaction from the Moroccans is proof on one hand, the unexpected reaction from Senegal (though I saw one of them jump for joy) is proof for the other. I am not able to fit that picture of altruism with the Moroccan team. It fits for me that the level of tension generated in that scenario informed the natural human response to take the safest option — down the middle. |

NasirIbnLaAhad:"Carney Chukwuemeka is now open to playing for the Super Eagles." His camp has stated that the Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder is willing to represent Nigeria at the senior level and will seize the opportunity when it arises, as there is a great chance to play for Nigeria now. The 22-year-old, who can also play as a left winger, was born to Nigerian parents in Austria and grew up in England. He is eligible to play for all three countries, but so far, he has only represented England at various youth levels. The news is legit. |

Both angles have strong anchors. In the end, I am just glad justice was served. Morocco had no business being in that final in the first place, so justice it was seeing them fail despite the ref bias vs Senegal. Odunayaw: |

AFCON & WAFCON tournaments feel like CAF promised Moroccan king the trophies because of how much Moroccan government loses to world class sports facilities upgrades & infrastructure Will the events surrounding the AFCON afftect their tourism industry I heard they destroyed Senegalese shops and some persons were murdered Just happy FIFA & CAF’s corruption plan didn’t work out. Almost a s.ham tournament Ivory Coast weren’t even giving this level of treatment/support by referees but they won 2 years ago |

TheSuperNerd:Until tomorrow, I believed it was simply a clear miss, and that is how it should be recorded in football history. If, however, it were proven to be a deliberate action, then appropriate sanctions should apply, including investigation for match manipulation, and FIFA would be right to look into it. But in all honesty and clarity, that incident was a miss. The intention was clearly a Panenka-style penalty. The goalkeeper remained in the middle as instructed by mane , maybe he knows where he will shoot the ball , and it is well known that Mendy has an excellent record against Panenka penalties—not once, not twice. His history speaks for itself, and this has already been widely shared. Anyone pushing a different narrative should stop. We all wanted Senegal to win—and they did, fairly. As for Morocco, their lack of sportsmanship has been evident. It has been an unfortunate and recurring experience for many of their opponents throughout this competition. |
