An uninformed, ignorant generation that glorifies and worships anything on the surface without probing further. Mediocrity!
That is the only reason why someone like Wizkid and the likes can be described as ''superstars'' by some dead-ignorant fans and media. That is the source of this foolish pride.
The current prop of musicians are only benefitting from the advent of space and internet technologies which has made it very easy for their songs and videos to be aired across the world within minutes after they are released. If not, these boys are nothing musically!
It is actually very annoying to some people that Wizkid would say he is bigger than Fela. Fela belonged to the generation that worked hard to achieve success.
But there is a common problem:
We Nigerians just like to brag and arrogate glory to ourselves even when we do not deserve it. This somehow makes us sound arrogant, proud and disrespectful!

The same way those who know Fela's history and musical evolution would feel when some people (especially Nigerians) open their mouth to say that Fela is the originator or creator of Afrobeat.
Fela himself traveled to live in Accra, Ghana 1967-69 where he joined a band called Hedzoleh, That is where he learned the genre that is called ''Afrobeat'' today. It was that band that worked with him to release some of his best songs when he returned to Nigeria in 1970 after the civil war.
But people who do not know the origin and evolution of the genre would be the first to open their mouth to say ''Fela created Afrobeat''. The same problem with Wizkid right now. Claiming what he does not know or have.

If not that many Africans don't have good listening ears for reasonable music, they wouldn't have rated Wizkid that high because I don't know what he sings.
