infofta:You can ask your school to defer your admission to January 2027 The payment they are requesting is an initial deposit, which schools collect to confirm that you are serious about accepting the offer. It can also help during your visa processing, so they usually cannot wait without the deposit and the deposit is also about 15% of your first year fee If you don’t mind me asking, what is the reason the funds will only be available in two months? |

amnotapervert:Thank you gor the response. The funds is from investment that will only be available in March. Can I send a mail telling them this since September start date is still far away. I was told earlier during my application that the last day to submit documents is July 1 meaning there is still time so why 10 days ultimatum. |

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm planning on entering into Canada with a PhD and then switch from the PhD to a college to study healthcare course like nursing. I will like to know if anyone have idea if leaving the PhD is very feasible. And lastly, will I need proof of funds when going for a PhD that is partly funded. |

Mudi19:You should be aware that during the process of switching programs, you are required to apply for a new study permit for the new program. that is new POF new statement of purpose etc You will also need to clearly explain to IRCC why you want to switch after only a few months. Do not take this lightly....IRCC is very quick to refuse applications, especially when someone switches from a higher level of education to a lower one. This is why IRCC introduced the rule that if you are switching schools or programs (even within the same school), you must apply for a new study permit. It’s time to stop relying on outdated information and old mindsets. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/change-schools.html

infofta:Write to the school and see what they have to say about holding your admission for you. The 10-day period they give is to confirm that you are serious and to secure your spot, because they have other applicants on the waiting list...it’s business for them, nothing personal. Some schools offer admission quickly but expect you to pay the initial deposit so they can secure your commitment. They don’t want you waiting for admission from another school. That’s why they require the first payment in 10 days to keep you hooked to show that you are serious and intend to accept their offer. Remember, it’s business for them, and they want to know the number of students they can expect. |

Greetings All, Please I want to make an inquiry here, Can my in-law in Canada stand as my Sponsor? he is a Canadian citizen and works as a software engineer. If he can, what are the requirements. He is ready to fund my tuition and sponsor me. |

Try and make the initial deposit to retain a seat for this program if you want to resume by September 2026. You can part liquidate the investment for this purpose or borrow against it. If on the other hand you can't, you can write the school and explain the situation, they may give you time to pay. I have seen few instances where people miss the deadline to pay the initial deposit and they requested for extension and they were given. All the best. infofta: |

Believe it or not, Canada is looking for people that will bring in FRESH money/inflows! Sponsors from within Canada is not a great idea, but he can contribute by paying off your tuition fee and/or set up a GIC for you as part of his contribution. Let the main/additional sponsorship come from Nigeria. This advice is from what I have experienced handling study visa applications. All the best. Chigbo55: |

Email the school requesting an extension to pay the initial deposit. Most schools give extensions infofta: |

Your in-law can sponsor you, but note that when a third party is sponsoring you, you must demonstrate the relationship between the sponsor and you, and the incentive for the sponsorship. The sponsor can show commitment by transferring funds to your account, paying your tuition fee, and providing proof of support in the past. Chigbo55: |

Hello everyone, For those at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), I am trying to apply for a master’s program. I emailed a professor to ask about supervision, and he replied asking for my transcript and grades. My grades are not very strong. It has been over two weeks since I sent my transcript, and I haven’t received a response. I also sent a reminder email, but there has still been no reply. My question is: can I apply for the course-based master’s route without a supervisor? Is it possible to secure admission into a master’s program at MUN without having a supervisor confirmed? I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you. |

timigreene:At 38, a postgraduate diploma in healthcare might work for college admission, but for IRCC visa purposes, it’s not ideal unless you can get into a master’s program. IRCC looks at things differently: they want immigrants who can start working and contributing to CPP and OAS quickly. Younger people in 20s studying 2–4 years and then working are preferred. are you notice most people in their 30 come for higher degree or to start work immediatly With your Healthcare Assistant certificate but no recent work experience, IRCC would likely see the strongest path as pursuing a master’s degree, finishing quickly, and getting a higher-paying job to contribute to the system. This is just my perspective based on how Canada evaluates applicants |

| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by amnotapervert(m): 3:02pm On Jan 22 |
Mudi19:Yes...Memorial University in Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada) does offer course..based Master’s programs, not just research (thesis) ones sometimes if you do small Google search you will get your answers 😂 But that is why I am here 😂 At this point, I should be an ambassador for the school....I am always encouraging people looking for cheaper schools to go there. Master of Management (MMgt), Master of Applied Ocean Technology , Master of Maritime Management (MMM), Master of Technology Management (MTM) , Master of Education (MEd), Master of Science (Nursing), Master of Human Kinetics and Recreation, Master of Science (Computer Science) https://gazette.mun.ca/campus-and-community/graduate-tuition-changes/ now time to ask the correct question what program are you looking at ? |

chidi4eze:You will likely fall under the healthcare category once you create your Express Entry profile. If you maximize all possible points, the probability of receiving an invitation is high with a minimum CRS score of 470. This route makes obtaining permanent residence easier than going through the school route. Follow the Express Entry section on Nairaland for more information. Also, I like you to calculate your possible CRS score https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/check-score.html and share it with the express entry section of nairaland this way, we can better assess how realistic your chances are and what you need to work on you can guess what your possible IELTS points will be when using the calculator https://www.nairaland.com/6829885/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/766 https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/policies-operational-instructions-agreements/ministerial-instructions/express-entry-rounds.html
