Guys please help me before I mistakenly Eat poison.
I'm always careful of whatever goes inside of me because it will hardly come out.

I bought a mudu of Butter Beans yesterday, I'm cooking it right now. But after parboiling it, I perceive a kerosene-like smell oozing out of it. I don't know what this means.

I have stories of people who ate such, and died afterwards.

Someone please explain to me. Should I continue or throw it away?

Perhaps chemical mixed with kerosine was used to preserve the beans. Do not eat it now. Through it away or dry it for long

Let him or her know the danger it can cause. Mixing chemicals with food is not good at all. Some will take it it won't affect them but some will take it and start having issues.

These days, you parboil beans and throw away the first water - so you don't ingest the chemicals they used in preserving it (especially if you don't see any weevils on it). Did you do this?

If the smell is strong, yeah, you should throw it away.

Hot water CAN'T wash off all the kerosene or chemicals. It's definitely NOT worth the cancer risk!
**Rule of thumb: Any food that has chemical smell, toss it! Instead don't eat.

Becareful, people have died in the past from chemicals used to preserve beans, wash thoroughly before cooking, change the water at least once before it is cooked.

My beans they smell like raw cement and diesel.
Best way to cook it is to perboil the beans and let it cook for 10 minutes, then drain the water and wash with plenty of water before finally cooking.

It's the cheap preservative they used in the store. It's supposed to prevent insects that eat the beans while in storage. What you should do is perboil the beans for 20min using a gas cooker or longer if using other means of heating, pour away all the water and add fresh clean water. You can do it twice If you like. All the smell will go.

You are correct...nothing wey dem no dey take preserve beans for that Country...I hear even gamalin too...please the op should NOT EAT IT!
