Democracy Not Built On Serial Defections, APC Tells Atiku, Obi by treesun(op): 6:52pm On Jan 21
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has questioned the democratic credentials of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, saying neither played a significant role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle that led to the current democratic dispensation.

In a statement on Wednesday, Lagos APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo said Atiku and Obi, who recently positioned themselves as moral arbiters of Nigeria’s democracy, were absent when others faced detention, exile, intimidation, loss of livelihood, and death in the fight against military rule.

The statement read in part:

“The Lagos State Chapter of the APC finds it imperative to interrogate—the so-called democratic credentials of Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, who have anointed themselves as the conscience of Nigeria’s democracy. Democracy is sustained by consistency, sacrifice, respect for institutions, and fidelity to the will of the people—not by selective outrage, convenience-driven alliances, or transactional politics.”

The party criticized Obi’s political trajectory, describing his movement across multiple political platforms as opportunistic rather than ideologically driven. It also condemned Atiku for navigating various political parties in his bid for the presidency, calling his actions “ambition without ideological anchor.”

“Democracy is not strengthened by serial defections, nor preserved by treating political parties as mere vehicles of convenience. Alliances forged by bitterness, entitlement, and desperation are not democratic alternatives,” the statement added.

The Lagos APC further urged Nigerians to evaluate leaders based on respect for democratic processes and institutional loyalty rather than protest after losing elections. The party emphasized that the electorate deserves clarity and statesmanship, not ambition disguised as moral authority.

“Both gladiators are hereby encouraged to accept this as an open challenge and present their democratic credentials to the discerning Nigerian public—devoid of fairytales,” the statement concluded.

Those two nomadic hobo politicians.

Watching those fraudster hop from party to party is like observing a confused grasshopper on caffeine, jumping endlessly, going nowhere, and calling it strategy. If desperation had a mascot, it would be wearing campaign badges from five different parties at once.

Nigerians have long outgrown this brand of political gimmicks, the kind that always arrives hand-in-hand with fairy tales and outright fabrications, expertly narrated by the Agulu high priest. Instead of calmly presenting credible antecedents to justify their ambitions, they prefer frantic marathons across the political landscape, fueled by lies, noise, and empty moral posturing.

Ask them a simple question, why should Nigerians vote them? You won’t get answers. No record. No substance. What you’ll get instead is an invasion by unintelligent, paid online rodents, squeaking insults, foaming at the mouth, and dragging your entire ancestry into their intellectual meltdown.

Democracy cannot be built and strengthen by a drug bárón, forger, identity thiéf and buccanééring power grabber
Re: Democracy Not Built On Serial Defections, APC Tells Atiku, Obi by jmoore(m): 6:59pm On Jan 21
And democracy is built by paying serving governors to join your party? How many governors have defected to APC and you embraced them? Hypocrisy!

APC is operating like a bandit party. In a real democracy, those governors should resign before defecting.
APC is just stealing the mandate of the people. And that is not democracy.

And certainly not by a looter and fraudster tha laundered his state commonwealth to foreign land as exposed in Pandora Papers
Re: Democracy Not Built On Serial Defections, APC Tells Atiku, Obi by AMINDA: 7:50pm On Jan 21
Are they trying to mock defectors? So why has Tinubu been courting all 36 state governors while relentlessly chasing after Kwankwaso now for weeks? How does he expect them to feel?

Nice try, but the facts are clear: Peter Obi didn’t launder state commonwealth. Tinubu did. He continues to siphon and milk Lagos funds for over two decades and counting. Democracy cannot be built by a thief, drug bárón and fraudster.

The same APC that is cajoling and coercing every Tom, Dick and Harry including confirmed criminal and looters to defect to its fold because of number politics is the one shamelessly preaching the anti - defection politics?

How could people be this stup*d, myopic and wicked? What about all those governors defecting to APC? That's how to build democracy and it's normal.
Re: Democracy Not Built On Serial Defections, APC Tells Atiku, Obi by Seeplusplus: 9:19pm On Jan 21
Tinubu is many bad things but he stood with what he believed in politically all these while, leading an opposition party that went on to defeat a sitting president.

Atiku and Obi meanwhile, don't have anything they stand for. Always hopping from one party to the other in search of a ticket. Unfortunately for Atiku, it is that jumping up and down that has caused him his many defeats. Tinubu can deceive Atiku to join the APC by simply promising him ticket. Atiku is not a presidential material. Such poor vision. It's always about getting the ticket for him. He has gotten it at least three times and nothing came out of it.

Now Obi is towing the same path. From APGA, to PDP, to ELLUPEE, to ADC.

One or both of them will lose the primary, where will the person go next?

Omo Atiku is too useless and overrated I swear. E pain me say I vote am 2019 and 2023.

See the intolerant and anti-democratic schmucks, now presuming to know what it takes to nurture and grow true democratic ideals and values! You can’t use Tinubu/APC and democracy in the same sentence without sounding dishonest and deceitful!

Another mvmv talk, mandela fought for south africa freedom and spent over 20yrs in jail he did one term ... his people would have gladly give him 3rd term sef

So if Atiku or Peter obi had no contributions to the pro democracy struggles it means absolutely nothing, GEJ, OBJ , Buhari did not contribute as well and they became president so

Both party members (and maybe their spirited foot soldiers littered here and there) might need to look into the mirror before dishing out advices as they all can't give what they don't have.

Imagine a Nigerian politician giving you a masterclass on loyalty, as how na.

Re: Democracy Not Built On Serial Defections, APC Tells Atiku, Obi by Ojuntana: 1:02am On Jan 22
Freedom of association is a basic and fundamental right in democracy so I don't know what APC is whining about moreover they have been the biggest beneficiary of defections in the history of our democracy.

The biggest threat to our democracy is the encroachment of the doctrine of separation of powers. There seems to be a convergence among the elites across the three arms and now the Federating states which is basically based on protection of class interest and preservation of social order for the elites. As at today, anyone can easily guess what the response of the three arms of government will be to any issue of the day based on what the executive thinks about it. Even the states who used to act as counter political force to the center have allowed themselves to be subsumed to the will and interest of the all powerful centre which is what has made states in the SS all defect to align with the centre for example while Kano is being pressured to toe same line regardless of the optics or reality of the political sentiments among the masses

Hold on pandora never said PO used state funds to launder in foreign lands oooo. In fact the time pandora referred to a Nigeria that used stolen state funds to buy a house in London was tinubu who used Oyetola to make that purchase. In fact PO like Otedola, Adenuga and Dangote were mentioned in Pandora papers and owning foreign accounts and trusts in Isle of Man.

Tinubu didn't stand for any.beliefs or principles. He only bidded his time and saw an opportunity to grab power in Buhari. He amassed wealth from holding on to Lagos and used it as his war chest to grab power. There was no ideal here, if truly there was an ideal it would manifest in the direction of the government. But so far there is no focus.

That's his strategy and it worked for him.
What is Atiku and Obi's strategy? Hopping from one dead party to the other? Atiku's strategy would have been through Goodluck in 2015 Tinubu played him because he knows once there's a platform to contest, Atiku will just jump at the opportunity. Obi's strategy meanwhile could have been through Atiku in 2023, again he allowed social media get into his head. The two men are so poor sighted and it's worrying, considering the fact that they claim they are better options to Tinubu.

Imagine having a president with zero strategy and foresight?
