The guy has been touring all across Africa but boom, he reaches Nigeria, they start begging and soliciting for money.I am sure he already noticed the same thing right from the airport.Begging has been embedded as the norm in this country. No iota of pride or self-esteem. |

Sonnobax15:The thing is they need to know who the personality is before swarming their car begging for money! A Nigerian celebrity or big man…not much of an issue as they know the culture being Nigerian themselves! But things are a bit different when the personality or celebrity is a foreigner on a publicised visit to Nigeria! They don’t know or appreciate the culture, so we should be restrained in how we interact with them and ensure to put our best foot forward! Over the weekend, i watched a program on CNN in which CKay of Love Nwantiti fame was being interviewed (he has a cheeky infectious grin by the way), and when he took the interviewer out in his motorcade to go sample some street food, he was prepared and had wads of naira that he occasionally opened the window to give to fans chasing his car. He knows what the culture is being a Nigerian and doesn’t mind being asked to ‘show some love’! But with a foreigner, they may not understand! |

The first time remo stars played in the CAF Champon league. The citizens of Remo were begging the southafrican visiting team for food, and the southafricans were videoing them. It was so embarrassing. Enyimba and Rangers have been playing in the continent for decades without such an embarrassment. |

SpencerForbes:The worst place he could have gone to in Nigeria was lagos. Nigeria would have been better marketed if he was taken to Akwaibom, obudu, osun, the plain of mambilla in taraba, Jos, enugu or even abuja. Nobody wants to see traffic and concrete, especially not an american coming from Newyork. |

But lets tell ourselves the truth, how many people there know him as a YouTuber or a celebrity that they will start swarming him. My guess is that, he and his crew planned it all along. |

Tendd:It is extremely concerning. And it is not about poverty as people are always in haste to say. It is bad attitude. Other African countries that are suffering more poverty than us do not display this irritating attitude. It is just our usual anyhowness and thinking that we can use all means to outsmart other people including emotional/begging blackmail. |

See wetin poverty dey cause....if we have a good working system where most these people begging are employed this won't be happening na. Imagine if na Messi or Cr7 come Lagos.... |

Josywhyte:But there are more African countries poorer than us with more unemployment than us why did they not act this way ? My friend ,this is Naija attitude towards foreigners and money . |

SpencerForbes:It's only logical you start from Lagos because it's the commercial capital of the country and has the major international airport. By default, people come into the country through Lagos or sometimes Abuja. |

Ihaveleftnaija:You're right anyways. Nigerians just have this mentality and attitude that if they see a foreign person, the first thing that comes to their mind is to 'task' them. But I always feel ashamed seeing stuffs like this. And some of these guys or/women are people's husbands/wives |

SpencerForbes:But the visitors always start at the commercial capital or the administration capital who are the normal faces of any nation . If they go to Kenya , Nairobi is sure. If South Africa, Cape Town or Johannesburg is sure. Ghana Accra is sure . Botswana, Gaborone is sure etc. We just need to fix our attitude towards money and the inferiority complex to foreigners from rich countries. |

On second thought, please just go back to USA before they kidnapped you... Someone is saying you "just have to give him no matter what he begs", that is just a provocation away from informant for bandits. |
