Between Concrete And Asphalt (Tarred) Roads Which One Is Better? by LifeOfTrigga(op): 11:22pm On Jan 24
Base on research.

Tarred roads are generally better and safer than concrete roads for driving πŸš—. Here's why:
- *Safety*: Tarred roads provide better traction, reducing skid risks, especially when wet.
- *Durability*: Tarred roads are more flexible, handling weather changes and traffic loads better.
- *Maintenance*: Tarred roads are easier and cheaper to repair.

Concrete roads are durable but can be slippery when wet and are often pricier to build/maintain 😊

All these concrete roads government dey build lately, hope e no go dey cause accident if rain dey fall sha

What are the state of all the concrete roads Umahi constructed in Ebonyi state? Virtually all of them have failed. Man is just obsessed with concrete roads like a bad workman with only a hammer in his toolkit.

I was about to type this, though he did low budget concrete road in Ebonyi typical of some polithiefcians πŸ˜‚.
The one dangote constructed at Obajana highway is solid, smooth and withstanding the factory heavy duty trucks plying that road for over 12years.

In addition to this, Apapa Oworonshoki expway is a concrete road, constructed by Dangote.
No skidding when it rains also

What about overlaying the concrete surface with tar?

You don't this for a quality job, it can only be done on the concrete road constructed by Professor of Practice πŸ€£πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚ (Engr Dave Umahi). That Tinubu minister needs to be bundled angry

According to the professionals who made the best motorway in the world, a multilayered construction 🚧 process is the standard for the day.

But what material stayed on top of what? Which is safest? Which is strongest? πŸ€” Asphalt or Cement? 🧐

See the proper solution πŸ‘‡πŸΎ

I was thinking overlaying it with tar will make it smoother and elongate its useful years.

Yea, I think Dangote did this with Apapa Oworonshoki expway.
The road was overlay with tar

Stop the unnecessary criticism already. Concrete roads suits our tropical environments more than their tar counterpart. The APC administration may be the worst thing to happen to Nigeria but Umahi is specially good at what he does.

Once foundation is bad, catastrophy is inevitable 🀷🏿. It's evident on that pics.
Ebonyi had to put tar over the concrete road but it's counter productive.
Despite all the haulage that passes Obajana - kabba highway, the road is still solid over the years. Goods and services connecting the north and south ranging from Cement, iron road, food, passenger, etc

Better they do, cos leaving it that way concrete won’t be good when it’s raining..

Highways are made with tar in U.K. and US, I won’t say about other countries before I didn’t take note when I went, but I am sure of U.K. and US

Maybe it has rough surfaces and not really smooth concrete

Very terrible!!!

If you are going to Ebonyi from Enugu, immediately you drive on the concrete road, even a blind man would notice how rough it is.

I worked in 4 different local governments in Ebonyi and I could see those concrete construction more. Umahi tried when it comes to road construction ,but I think the contractor is still learning how to do concrete road. All of them is not smooth, and many are already old. Even in Enugu state around Eke bridge, you could see how rough they are. They aren't beautiful and clean. It make the steering vibrate.

While tarred roads provides better skid resistance and traction, Concrete roads are way better.

I'm already liking the concrete road I'm seeing from Trailer Park to Eleme junction in Port Harcourt

Concrete is far better
Easily affordable and maintenance not difficult unlike tared road

Concrete is more expensive and seems to last longer.
Re: Between Concrete And Asphalt (Tarred) Roads Which One Is Better? by Nwaikpe: 2:45pm On Jan 25
Asphalt.

But our leaders don't know.

There is a reason why asphalt has been in use for more than 400 years now.

Concrete does not have the ductility that asphalt has. It will keep failing except under harsh weather conditions.

But everything to us is simply a thing of fancy and not of function.

I would prefer concrete root for Nigerian roads though Asphalt is better. They both have their pros and cons
Re: Between Concrete And Asphalt (Tarred) Roads Which One Is Better? by GOVERNORR: 2:45pm On Jan 25
Which road do you want to construct or do you want to advise the government?

If it's advise then it's too late.. Umahi is using Cement already to make concrete roads
Re: Between Concrete And Asphalt (Tarred) Roads Which One Is Better? by donleo92(m): 2:46pm On Jan 25
concrete is way better by far, asphalt is just like painting the road with black paint.

Even ancient romans made us of concrete to build their Colosseum and even roads, and we can still see it till date
Re: Between Concrete And Asphalt (Tarred) Roads Which One Is Better? by tuoyoojo(m): 2:47pm On Jan 25
If you have driven on concrete road, you would know that is it very uncomfortable

The uneven Road makes driving so unenjoyable

Asphalt on the other hand is prone to wear and tear faster but makes driving pleasurable
