Today, the Lagos State Government hosted the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Abia State, Hon. Chaka Ikenna Chukwumerije @ChakaIkenna, alongside officials from the Abia State Ministry of Lands, on a study tour to Lagos State.

The visit is aimed at learning and understanding Lagos State’s land administration framework, particularly the deployment of technology-driven solutions to address land-related challenges and enhance service delivery.

The delegation was received by the Special Adviser on eGIS and Urban Development, Dr Olajide Babatunde, where they held an interactive session and were taken on a guided tour of key facilities, including the ongoing Lagos GIS Centre, Land Digitization Centre, Lagos Land Archive, and the Electronic Physical Planning Centre.

The team also visited the Lagos State Lands Bureau, where they engaged with the Executive Secretary of Lands Bureau and other senior officials of the Department, exchanging insights and best practices in land administration and management.

The Lagos State Government has hosted the Abia State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Chaka Chukwumerije, alongside officials from the Abia State Ministry of Lands, on a study tour aimed at strengthening land administration practices.

The visit was disclosed in a statement shared on X (Formerly Twitter) on Monday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat.

It was stated that, “the visit is aimed at learning and understanding Lagos State’s land administration framework, particularly the deployment of technology-driven solutions to address land-related challenges and enhance service delivery.”

The Abia delegation was received by the Special Adviser on eGIS and Urban Development, Olajide Babatunde, where an interactive session was held

Indeed, Otti has shown commendable discipline, the rare ability to learn at the feet of one’s betters. Next time, he shouldn’t bother dispatching a commissioner to Lagos like a courier with homework.

Instead, he should place a respectful call to Sanwo-Olu and ask when the timetable is free for a proper tutorial. With that sorted, Sanwo-Olu can graciously host him in Lagos, where Otti may receive the lessons and neatly bound jottings, carefully inherited from the grand master himself, Tinubu. After all, why audit from afar when you can sit in the classroom of the professor’s best student?

Lagos has always been the trailblazer. If you travel across the country very well, you will notice that what most governors are doing in their states are projects originally copied from Lagos.

In the land of the blind. One eye man is the king. Processing land registration in lagos from inital stage to procurement of C. of O. takes years and millions of naira. In places where two eye men are the king.

You identify the land you wanted to buy.
Your lawyer conduct a search on the land.
You engaged a surveyor to survey the land.
The surveyor register the survey.
The seller prepare deed of transfer.
Your lawyer register the deeds once the sales goes through.
The land belongs to you to occupy.

All this is completed within one month.

The registration of deeds is less than one month pay of a minimum wage earners.
Your annual property taxes is where government earn actual revenue.

Lagos should be competing with major cities in South Africa and not local champion.
It was a former capital. It has more than two seaports with major airport and home to various companies headquarters.
It's even the smallest state in Nigeria and yet them won choke am with infrastructure. What can't they spread development to other south western states or even the states close to Atlantic ocean?
