Profgordons:
This is not always the case, people have different reasons they want to study a program. You just need to prove why. It may be related to work experience or passion. The SOP is all that matters.
You lost me at ‘passion’ 😂 IRCC does not give two Fs about passion. What they care about is whether you can show measurable progress in your life and clearly justify why you want to study that program.

They want to see that the program is related to your previous degree or your current work experience, and that it will realistically advance your future career.

Don’t forget...you are a Nigerian applying with a Nigerian passport, and study permit approval rates for Nigerian applicants remain low.

I have shared the numbers multiple times...

A South Korean citizen can apply based on passion. Even a Chinese student can.

Nigerians, Indians, etc.....cannot apply for a program simply because of passion

It is possible to successfully apply for a program that you have passion for, that is not related to your previous degree and work experience.

You just need to write a proper SOP that will do justice to why you want to study this unrelated program.

@Profgodons is not wrong at all, we all have diferent experiences and every visa application is treated differently by the visa officers who are the final decider of wether the application is approved or not.

This is my problem with agents. Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well. A Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Management would likely make your agent's work and admission application easier but might make your PR pursuit harder and even question your logical career progression.

You are already in the STEM field (regardless of your class of degree) and Mechanical Engineers are in higher demand in Canada than SCM professionals. So, with your current grade in mind, I would advise you to research certificate programs in applied Mechatronics, Robotics, or Advanced Manufacturing.

Here are some programs I would recommend:

1. Centennial College - Automation and Robotics - Fast-Track

2. Conestoga College - Process Quality Engineering (Graduate Certificate)

3. Fanshawe College - Aerospace Operations Management (Graduate Certificate)

These courses maintain your career and academic progression, and they keep you within STEM, which is instrumental for your PR.

I hope this helps you make the right decision.

The best way to establish a genuine relationship with a family member is for your co-sponsor to pay the $1,500 tuition deposit. That, along with a submitted affidavit of relationship, helps demonstrate a strong connection.

Also If they have paid your fees in the past and can provide proof, that will also strengthen your documentation but not necessarily

The reason is simple: yes, they may be your family member with the same last name and all, but IRCC may argue that there is no history of them supporting you and ask why they should sponsor you when they are not your parents...even if they are family.

A payment coming directly from their account shows not only that they have the financial capacity, but that they have a vested interest in sponsoring you. It demonstrates commitment, especially when the initial deposit is paid from their own account....

They should also add the following:
(1) Employment letter
(2) Tax returns
(3) Current visa/residency or passport
You need all of these documents to establish a genuine relationship with the co-sponsor and include them with the affidavit.

IRCC knows that only genuine family members would be willing to provide such documents. Anyone can make up an affidavit, but attaching these documents shows real commitment and credibility.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by ThekayBature: 4:19am On Jan 27
My sister received her Passport Request (PPR) yesterday.

At the time of application, she had been working for the past two years as an accountant at a small clinic. To prove her earnings and employment history, we submitted her bank statements (mbs) showing salary deposits . We also included her employment letter and a letter from her employer confirming that she would return after her studies and use the new qualification to improve the company’s operations.

In addition, she received financial support from our parents, which had been in her account for a long time (since around February). We provided bank statements, transfer receipts, and a detailed explanation of the source of funds, including documentation showing our parents’ sources of income and their ability to support her without financial hardship despite being retired.

She also received support from her siblings. We transferred funds into her Canadian account. She opened a Student GIC with TD Bank, which was funded with over $35,000. Each of us provided letters of support explaining our income sources, how we were able to provide the funds, and confirmation that supporting her would not affect our own financial stability. Supporting documents were attached to prove sustenance.

She also submitted land ownership documents gifted to her by our parents, which she intends to use for business purposes. In addition, she owns a registered fish farm, and we included business registration documents and business bank statements showing cash flow. A detailed explanation was provided outlining her plan to return to Nigeria to further develop the fish farm, and how the supply chain program would help her expand and professionalize the business. The money for the business was not included in her PoF.

We clearly explained our family relationships and included all relevant proof. The application included a very detailed statement of purpose, with no room for guessing. We paid first term tuition, and combined with her Nigerian funds and the GIC, we demonstrated that she had sufficient funds to fully cover the two-year program, with extra funds for flights and other settlement costs.

Overall, it has been a very positive but exhausting experience. It is noticeably different from when I applied for a study permit in 2021. The amount of documentation required now is much more extensive, and applicants are expected to go above and beyond to prove, beyond doubt, their financial capacity and genuine intent. It truly feels like you must clearly explain and justify every aspect of your application to demonstrate that you are financially able to study in Canada.

I honestly wish everyone trying the very best of luck and not to stop trusting in God.

For funding opportunities
Funding opportunities in Canada exist, but they are limited.

Most are partial funding....either funding a project for a professor (sometimes the professor hands their research to master’s students to do), or PhD funding, which is where the real money is.

Fully funded internal student positions are hard to get, but you can keep emailing professors and trying your luck.

The U.S. has much better funding, in my opinion, because there’s more money available for research.

But Trump 😂 and all the wahala I understand

A smarter approach is to apply to cheaper schools like Memorial University and then try to secure partial funding maybe $6,000 here, $3,000 there.

You will save more time and money if your initial fees aren’t too expensive and you can combine them with partial funding or small education grants.

Check the scholarship / education funding website.

Some thoughts in addition to amnotapervert point above on finances:

The Officer was not convinced on the proof of relationship which means the affidavit alone was not sufficient for them

i. Convince your Uncle and Aunt on the need for a copy of their birth certificates to demonstrate family connections & proof of relationship. You also need to do some work in your SOP to proof the family tree that you are actually related. If birth certificate is not available, work on getting pictures per ii below.

ii. Pictures taken with your uncle & aunt (old pictures preferred). Especially pictures in academic or professional settings e.g graduation, convocation, induction, matriculation etc. would be great. However, any old pictures you have with them would also be very helpful. Finally, group family photos that include your uncle, aunt, and parents together(old pictures).

iii. Evidence of previous commitments either of them has shown you? Like past occasions they have given you cash? Receipts of transfers. You would need to find way of documenting this in an orderly way in your Statement of Purpose (SOP).

Put lot of work on your Statement of Purpose. It is a very important document that would speak for you being you wont be there to defend yourself when your application is being reviewed by IRCC. Just like an applicant present themselves for in-person interview at USA Consulate. The SOP serves same purpose for Canada study visa.

All the best!

I submitted affidavit of relationship, they supported me when I was very young like kindergarten, like we even lived together as of the time my aunty especially was living close to our house in ph as of then so we always stay with her until she moved to Lagos 2006 same for my uncle he moved lived in delta but he usually comes around funny enough I’m the one who paid the 1500 maybe letting her pay that part would have been better I didn’t even think of it that way. Tho my co sponsor is the one taking care of the housing while main sponsor is for tuition, I submitted my uncles passport and visa he had. He even has the Canadian visa and uk tho my aunty didn’t send me hers. I think she doesn’t have in her new passport case she goes to the US. She works with chevron like she’s a permanent worker since 2004. Uncle is a politician. So they have steady cash flow. My aunty said she couldn’t find her employment letter cause it’s since 2004. I submitted my uncles own and paystub.

That picture part is where it’s going to be hard because I barely even take pictures with family. Infact i don’t even have with them because it’s been a long time I’ve seen them and me I traveled I’ve not even seen them for years so I don’t even know how to go about this one omo. It’s just been phone phone. My father was doing well already until he passed away late last year. so not like they needed to help me or anything like that. And as of those pictures I don’t even have anyone of me and them cause I’ve always been the shy kid that barely stays around the family crowd to take pictures. So i don’t think i can find those out family picture library is in our village house and can’t even access that

Good afternoon great people.
Please I am planning to go to Canada via the student route for a masters program.

My questions:
1. Between these two courses;
(A) Social Work (MSW)
(B) Logistics and Supply Chain Management (MSc)
Which of them can one easily get a job upon graduation?

2. Can you recommend a more affordable school in Canada that offers these courses and awards a masters degree?

3. Are there things I need to know before and during my application?

Thanks

When reapplying for student visa due to denial do I need to create a new application again and submit all my documents all over again or just submit the one I needed to submit to address the denial? How does it work?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by JMG12: 3:06pm On Jan 27
How can the money part not be an issue? You submitted 2 different sponsors without submitting your own account. Your sponsor can not use all their money in their account to sponsor you; secondly, should your sponsor's money cease how will your pay your bills and tuition. When reapplying ensure you have 80% of the funds available to you and the balance in your sponsor's account. Also, prove the relationship affidavit is not a genuine document to document to prove the relationship.

She can ask HR to provide a letter confirming her employment, but she doesn’t want to go through that stress for you.

The main issue is that IRCC does not place much weight on affidavits with out back up strong documents . You actually have a good profile.....you just need a little push. Do everything that both Olasubomy and I suggested.

It would also be helpful to contact a licenced immigration consultant. Even though they may tell you the same things we have said, they can review all your documents and spot issues we might miss on the forum. https://register.college-ic.ca/Public-Register-EN/RCIC_Search.aspx
