I have been using it for like 4 months now, and it has been between 16 to 18 %
Alaska90:

Re: Mutual Funds by jp130(m): 5:13am On Jan 30
I redeem my Stanbic equity fund to my wallet before 7am yesterday hoping it will land in my wallet before close of business but up till now no show. I need to push it to mmf from the wallet when it lands. Who has done this redemption before and how long did it take on the app?
Re: Mutual Funds by Samcathe: 7:06am On Jan 30
Many times, we argue based on assumptions

Ask each companies they claimed to deploy your money to and come back with the response. Then we can have a proper conversation.

Iamblessed88:
It’s only on this thread i’ve seen the argument that AUM and stability have no correlation. Folks don’t realize the advantages of AUM untill the market goes through some sort of stress.

When you liquidate your investments and get paid in an hour sometimes, do you truly believe the underlying holdings were sold off that quick? Fund managers usually keep a cash buffer to meet liquidity without necessarily selling off investments all the time.

The larger the AUM, the larger the buffer but as i said, you wont feel the impact in a smooth sailing market.

Also, forget SEC, the larger the AUM, the greater the scrutiny. Try and apply for an update to your signature or account details with stanbic, you would be lucky if this is done in a week. The reason is not due to sluggishness but because they have alot of hoops to cross (internal control). Now contrast it with a smaller fund manager. I had my account details changed on the app of a fintech FM in seconds and to be honest, i felt abit unsafe.

Yes, market risk (Beta) is thesame but there’s also such a thing as idiosyncratic risk which is unique to each firm.

For those using cowrywise, are they sec accredited? No. Who’s to ensure that they actually deploy your funds to those companies listed on the app since there aren’t any trustees to vouch?

For those of us in the informal sector. Which is better for retirement fund; MMF or stanbic micro pension?

Micro pension.
Re: Mutual Funds by ManAdii: 10:30am On Jan 30
Preator:
Micro pension.
If I may ask further, any reason why you're choosing this?

The returns are healthier mostly. It has equity element so benefits from capital appreciation

Also, your access to the funds are limited so you no go wake up one day and use it anyhow.

My opinion.

NB: i have both Stanbic MMF and Pension

Stanbic today's rate 15.42% tongue
Re: Mutual Funds by sharone21(f): 12:43pm On Jan 30
Cowry isn't bad but what I discovered:

From source ( investment SEC company) Vs theirs ( Cowry's) annual interest rate--

Meristem 18.46% vs 17.65%

Arm: 17.85% vs 16.46%

Trustbanc (possibly higher)....vs 19.37%

You will notice about 0.81% to 1.39%( hidden fees) + N250 ( obvious fees).

But Cowry company is a good business outfit since customers don't like to feel they have been cheated( lol). The good thing is that everyone can do what their mind leads them to do as per company to invest in instead of leaving idle funds which can easily be taxed without it giving you any profit.

The financial market needs MANY players as this makes it a robust one so, all well and good.... Whatever will bring more people to do this instead of gambling on betna.ija etc.

You are wrong. On the other hand, it is the Cowrywise that is being transparent here. I do ARM directly. The rate you are seeing their is gross, it doesn't match their daily returns. I have an excel template I use to track all my Fund managers. Whatever Cowrywise reports is what you get. Same does for myinvester app too. So let's do more due diligence
Re: Mutual Funds by FRANKLYex: 2:13pm On Jan 30

I dont mean Cowrywise as a firm. Check MMF FMs here:

https://sec.gov.ng/for-operators/keep-track-of-capital-market-data/net-asset-value-data/weekly-net-asset-value-for-cis/2025-weekly-nav-for-cis/

Who is the trustee for their intermediary role? If they have a brain wave and decide to deploy your funds to agro biz while updating your daily gains, who’s to stop them?
We can all verify the below

Seems some people has been dropping lots of misinformation and misleading information here lately.

Some are trying to sound smart without having the right information, some are saying things out of irrational fear, some are stylishly intent to promote their own type of investment, some are just confused but don't mind to confuse others in the thread too.

Hmm, we should all do well to verify information before we put it out here.

I agree with you on ARM. They quote 17.86% but what you are getting is 16.4% roughly. I have tracked this and I know what I'm saying. And for Cowrywise, I get exactly the % they quote.

To be honest...I'm struggling to grasp your point with the palmpay and cowrywise comparison

Most of what you noted have be explained here in previous pages.
