emmasoft:Observations As I went through recent pages on this thread, I have to quote this post as a reminder, and I would like to suggest, especially to newbies or new entrants into mutual fund investment, that you revisit my earlier posts, like: Key factors to consider before investing Low rate regime and investors' behaviour How investors make use of Money Market Funds (MMFs) The role of personal objectives in investment 12 Things to remember in 2026 (one for each month) and many other related posts in answer to some questions. I would like to emphasize that rates should not be taken out of context when evaluating an investment firm. Beyond rates, several other critical factors must be considered. We should also avoid equating customer service challenges with the nature or quality of a fund. These are separate issues and should be treated as such. Money Market Funds (MMFs) remain low-risk investment vehicles at all times. Regardless of how efficient or otherwise a fund manager may be, the fundamental principle remains that investors do not lose capital in MMFs. It is important to understand that an MMF is not the only money market investment instrument. Any investment related to cash placement—especially for periods of one year or less—falls under the money market. This includes bank placements, treasury bills, commercial papers, and fixed deposits with banks or other financial institutions. That said, these money market instruments do not necessarily share the same structure or risk profile as MMFs. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise if banks or asset managers offer products that appear similar to MMFs but differ in nature and risk. While it is perfectly acceptable to engage more than one fund manager, this should not be an end in itself. It is merely a means to an end. Ultimately, rate alone should never be the sole criterion for selecting a fund manager. We can also consider other forms of investment, like stocks, if we want higher returns and we can cope with the risk associated with it. Irrespective of the type of investment you wish to go into, proper due diligence is advised. Let us be well guided and invest with knowledge, not hearsay or guesswork. Remember, making money without tears remains our goal! |

The 1.4% management fee for Trustbanc via cowrywise. Is it one off or monthly? |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Creditalerts: 8:27pm On Jan 30 |
ManAdii:The management fee is a token the fund manager charges to ensure your invested funds earn money. The fee is deducted from the interest you earn. Finally, the fee is clearly stated on the details of each fund |
