What do you think about the new guidelines by the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos?

I'm bringing this here for us to talk about it because it seems there are people out there that are not telling the Archbishop the true picture of things.

The new guidelines says that all officers currently holding positions must vacate their positions for fresh people...
It also made the new leadership training, AEMP as a prerequisite...

Most of us are holding multiple positions in various levels... If you take us out, where are you going to see "Fresh people" to cover the vacuum??

Also, the AEMP being compulsory is an issue as people are not interested... How many parishioners have done the training that are now qualified??

The church is taking a wrong approach to solving the problem they're trying to solve..

Personally, I've occupied many positions in the past without having any leadership certificate to show for it. It should start from there..

The church should also make strict rules on indiscipline.. people just do things anyhow and walk away with it. Some mess up in one Parish & relocate to another parish without getting sanctioned..

Leadership tenure should be reduced to 2 or 3yrs to make it attractive...

The church should also make empowerment training compulsory in all parishes...

With these you can have a more purposeful governance in the system..

I wonder why you people boycott proper communication channels for social media, where noise often replaces substance and performative outrage achieves little beyond temporary attention.

If the goal was to genuinely raise concerns or influence change, the more effective approach would have been to formally write to the Archbishop or the church’s leadership.

I think the OP preferred a faceless platform like this one for anonymity. The church’s WhatsApp group would reveal his identity and expose his stance on the matter.

That changes is needed for instance you will cathesm I feel that he has equal right with rev father. And see themselves as the owner or chairman or co founder of the church

You talk about portrait in the village. Many of such portraits can be so dusty and some even broken cos who cares? We don't worship our grandparents, we may put their portrait were we can still remember them for as long as it last and if it wears out, life goes on.

Maybe while typing this, you are wearing a fabric with your Daddy GO's picture, while kneeling down in adoration for him to walk past you to start the service. Remove the log of wood in your own eyes do you can see and reason clearly.

I must state i am not a cathlic BUT your assertion is very wrong ... static kills growth n flow even though i believe old n fresh can co exist or co work

However asserting if the old are gone there wont be enough replacement is a Big lie you tell yourself

My late father in his place of work is as popular as Falana .. he did so much people withink if he die the hospital will shut down .. i do tell him old man calm down now 3yrs since he died his unit the hospital is still functioning

My point ... humans are replaceable esp. in workplace

Catholic Church do not give Reverence to Images.

Catholic Statues or Images have PICTORIAL values and reminds us of the Life of Jesus Christ,Mary and the Saints.

If you destroy thoseImages, statues and Crucifixes for a good reason
You have not broken any law or committed any offence in Catholic Church bcus they are not seen to have any power on their own.

But if you Destroy the Idol or totem of a Traditionalist,

Any image you see in our churches or houses are merely symbolical.
Images of Mary and saints are there for us to look up to them, emulate the way they lived their lives and ask them to *INTERCEDE* for us.

When you look at the pictures we hang in our homes, those pictures are not the person but it helps us think or remember the person. It's not about the image but what it represents.

Catholics don't *WORSHIP* images.

You're ignorant of the true practice. Perhaps, brainwashed by penticostalism. Even Jesus says no one comes to the father except through me. Catholics honour Mary as the mother of Jesus and never worshipped her. Even the Bible some of you read honoured Mary! Who are you not to honour her if you claimed to be a true Christian. Make proper theological research for your understanding.

Take note that many pentecostal churches are now copying the catholic church in so many ways, but in the wrong way. Eg the use of scapula and sacramentals in the name and ornaments of their General overseer. You can never see Catholics using the images of a mere man as sacramentals.Go and verify.

This is not just Lagos, I think it's a directive from the catholic bishops conference. It's for all societies in the dioceses to reshuffle their leadership position, those who's tenure is due should step down for new people
