How many global music was honored? Of all the categories. How many were African categories? Just two. The rest were Americans. Imagine a just one category for a continent bigger than America..

Best Song od the year and Album of the year is always American. Nigeria will be grouped into African music except the artist has a feature with an American .

Grammys has never been about popularity or streams, na industry people dey vote for their own. That’s why you go see artist with small commercial success winning, while big names get ignored. If you no get strong connection or recognition inside US music industry, your chances slim.

This also explains why African artists hardly win unless they’ve properly entered the US system. Talent alone no dey cut am, na who know you and who rates you among their peers. Anybody still shouting my fave was robbed no really understand how the award works.

It is fair to say that, this is an American music Award and not a Global Music Award. Music professionals in the US decides who wins. The inputs of the African listeners does not matter to them.

Now I understand why people like Jay-Z, Beyonce, Diddy can influence the decision. They know the professionals and can easily sell their artists to them. They even know what those people want to hear in music, and they put those things there. But people like Davido no sabi am well. We know Diddy paved the way for Burny Boy, and Wizkid used his baby mama to get across to Beyonce. David tried using Chris Brown, but getting the award is not getting nominated.

Asake has rebranded himself. Lol. Guy man has seen that he can't win using his old style. He even had a concert in a suit late last year. He didn't go naked, no "swagging" of his pants, etc. Guy had a very low hair cut style too. He must have consulted a pro. And Guy man don give Olamide a red card. Lol. Smart man.

And it's not just African acts that get shafted.

BTS, a whole BTS, arguably the biggest Boy band in the world right now, haven't won a single Grammy.

After an era of giving manufactured Boy Bands like NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and One Direction Grammys, the Recording Academy are suddenly struggling to recognize BTS.

The last Grammys, because they knew the whole world would accuse them of racism if they put them in "Best Asian Act", the Grammys put them in categories that they knew they wouldn't win (Best Pop) against their own American act and told the whole world "whatever Olivia Rodrigo sang is better and bigger than BTS 'Butter'..." 😑

You have to be in the American industry with deep connections to win.

Angelique Kidjo told Burna what to do and he won, Davido went to meet her but unfortunately Tyla got to the Recording Academy members first. Tyla is packaged directly for the American Music Industry, they don't care if Ayra Starr is selling out venues in Japan. Asake too moved over there and became "Bike is lyfe".

In other words, since the judges are all based in America, they would be skewed towards music that sounds like what they are used to.

It probably explains why tyla has won the Grammy over davido.
