I used to be pissed off about it, but now I understand safety first. There are also cases where poles would fall down and electrocute people. It is better to turn it off for a few hours. Everybody go dey alright.

We still have a long way to go in this country.
And according to transverse electric the way our building are laid out and carved may not allow electricity to be supplied well because it will cause a voltage wastage .
To support your point for us to have a stable electricity we may have to restructure the whole country In terms of urban and regional planning.

If we are to go by your logic why don't they switch it off in western countries like Germany or the US?

Very stupid talk.
Reading g this is like listening to excuses from failures.

When I was still in Owerri, I was close to manager of their sub station at egbu.. he took time to explain power issue in Nigeria and it has something to do with old wires and infrastructure. I can tell you this for free, we are not going to achieve steady power supply even in the next 20 years.. it will take radical change willpower to achieve that

Western countries mostly don't have wires hanging on poles, their cables are laid underground. They knew ahead of time the issues having wires on polea could bring

Go to those countries and find out the logic.

This should not be an excuse, if not that we have very irresponsible people and management.
Is it only in Nigeria it rains?
Take over IKEDC and give a solution. No excuses. Okay?

Dem dey off light in normal weather.... What do you expect during a downpour?

I don't need to ask. It is what is obtainable in Nigeria. Go to other countries and experience their engineering or take over IKEDC and overhaul it with your superior knowledge.
Such companies don't attract talented people - you only get a job there if you know someone, that's one of the reasons that industry is a total mess.

Nigeria is long overdue for a revolution, but polarization along tribal and religious lines is hampering it.

Here at home (not in Africa) we had blackouts for a total of maybe 15 minutes over the past 2 years. FIFTEEN MINUTES IN 2 YEARS. But our distribution system is designed well, and we produce as much as we need, not like 5% of the national need for power, like Nigeria.

There are states with active governors. I am sure if you come up with a stellar innovation and pitch it to Alex Otti and co, they will give you a listening ear.

You're very smart. People claim to know too much in the country but they lack knowledge and understanding. In Brooklyn, some areas have been without light for 3 days. Power go out in many areas of the US when the weather is bad.
In Nigeria the submission given above is plausible and brilliant.

Someone complained on X that there had been no power in Ikorodu since it rained, and a social media handle called Nigerian National Grid explained the reason why power goes off anytime it rains. At least in Nigeria. I don't know how it is in other countries

Another reacted: "Some people still sometimes have light even inside heavy rain, so how about that?"

For anyone to even write this to justify the reason behind No Light during a rainfall is a proof how education is not working in Nigeria.

They just love to run their mouth. Our wires are overhead. So this is the best measure for now. Doesn't mean it cannot be better.

I don't know how they claim to be so smart on issues like this, yet collectively the country is regressing on the actions of its citizens.

As war torn as Ukraine electricity don't go off. This is one the most useless and lame excuses ever given by senseless engineers.

Nigerian cities could create large sewage systems where the power lines could run underground to prevent this from happening.

Also, simply run the power lines underground. May cost money, but would prevent this from happening.
This can happen.. in the next generation not ours
