Lies!

It is not simply work place violence which even that one does not amount to a stabbing.

No, the devu woman stabbed the girl because the girl is probably a virgin and the girl was still refusing to join women in oloshoing.

Most jobs in Nigeria are just slavery both White and black collar ones. Working for a Nigeria boss is just like being in a slave camp.

If you ask how much the useless boss was paying that girl it won't pass 10 or 15k. Yet she works all day from morning till night under harsh environment and insulting boss. We have non existent labour laws in Nigeria.
Is there anywhere on earth that an overwhelming majority of this kind of jobs is not equivalent to slavery? Or you think limiting the negativity to Nigeria makes you sound smarter?

Exactly bro, in as much I am not exonerating the boss from the crime. The moment that changed everything was the retaliation slap from the sales girl. If it was only slaps that her boss gave her, she shouldn't have retaliated.
But be that as it may, the boss deserves a long stay in high school

LOL...not just Nigeria, even in saner and not so sane climes, people complain about being 'in slavery' to their employers.

If you want the real harsh job, try South Korea or Japan, where people work from seven am till 10pm, for yeye pay. cheesy

Bro, you're somehow wrong. In as much no one should be slapping anyone anyhow, but you shouldn't retaliate your boss slaps. If he or she slap you one and about to do so again, just walk out from the scene or some metres away. To deescalate the situation

Being a boss doesn't give u d leverage to slap ur employee. That's work place violence . In short if it where only slap the girl can report it as an assault and she would go in for it. Don't paint a wrong right in anyway. A boss should never ever slap employee

The perpetrator didn't understand her anger and where it could lead.... using myself as an example, I have always had a hot temper and since realised from experiences in my teens that picking up a weapon when in the midst of that cloud is a terrible idea.

When you have apologized to people for overreach so many times and only have God to thank for not facing the consequences of your actions, you will self correct by force and avoid triggers.

Basically know yourself, or your dark passenger, like Dexter would say....this is easier achieved when you are younger, when the world will always be nicer to you for your missteps.

So it is the victim's fault that the boss did not understand her own anger?

Anyway I will not argue with you, as a boss if you like be slapping people up and down, when you will slap someone like Ezinne (who has yet to become an oga yet) you will remember that explosive anger "no de collect explanation or look face".

I want to give my honest and undiluted opinion on this matter if truly it happens the way it was narrated.
First of, no matter my opinion or analysis, the said boss deserves a very long time in high school. After all said and done, now let me dig into the matter.
.
In life, a boss is a boss. No matter if you're agemate, older or younger than you. For opening a business or working in a place where he or she is above you, you have to accord them that respect.
Now we have two types of bosses. The good and bad ones, the mean and kind ones.
Just pray to find yourself working with the positive ones.
If you find yourself working with the negative ones, and after your first month working with them and knowing their characters and flaws. It's advisable you quit the job.
But if you don't want to quit maybe bcus there's no job out there readily, then try as much as possible to obey and do the instructions of these wicked bosses.
Try as much as possible to avoid getting into their troubles. I know it won't be easy but just try.
.
In the case of this story that just happened now. I honestly think the sales girl was very wrong to retaliate her boss slap. After the first or second slap, it's advisable to just step away from your boss reach. If it wants to become worse, you can even run away and ultimately quit the job.
No boss, I repeat no boss especially the wicked and angry ones will stand and watch his or her employee return slap. If that said boss doesn't have the physical power to hurt you, he or she will want to use their money and punish you severely with either police, soldiers or even guys.
.
I have learnt one particular thing about fights while growing up. You see people that are quick to draw weapons when fighting, most don't really do that with the intention to hurt you. They do that to scare you. Once they draw that weapon, they want you to run from them. They'll try to chase you, but just some small running after you, they'll stop and let you go.
But the moment you stand and dare them to do their worse, that's when evil spirit enters them and they can injure and even kill you.
In this sales girl case, her greatest undoing is that retaliation. She would have still been alive today if she have just walk away after the first or second slap. If she had done that, The boss would have calm down and they will settle things out or the worse she sacked her.
.
But it's what it's, she's gone now and may her soul rest in peace and may the murderer rot in jail while regretting her actions.
Abi Wotowotoman wetin you think?

Women usually exhibit wickedness very fast especially to their own gender.

Walking along the road specifically in all those tailoring shops, you will see the Madam will instruct some girls to kneel down under sun.

Situations in the country now flares up anger. Imagine coming to Nairaland seeing people supporting this government, but ask them how it has bettered their lives, they can't answer

Shagreenn:
This is one of those stories that are very hard to tell, but it must be told. It is a real life tragedy that happened in Lagos State, Nigeria. A story about work, anger, violence, and a young girl whose life ended too soon. It was on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at about 6.30 in the evening, something terrible happened inside a small cosmetics shop in Lagos.

A place where people normally come to buy cream, perfume, and beauty products turned into a scene of pain and death. The victim was Ihechidere Favour Uka, a 17 year old girl. She was young, full of life, and trying to survive. She worked as a sales girl in a cosmetics shop. Like many young girls in Nigeria, she left home to work and help herself and her family.

Her boss was a woman named Ibekwe Ezinne Mary, 30 years old. She was the owner of the cosmetics business. People around described her as strict, but nobody imagined that things would end this way.According to reports, that Tuesday started like any other normal day. Ihechidere came to work as usual. She attended to customers, arranged goods, and followed instructions. Nothing showed that before evening, her life would be gone.

As the evening approached, around 6 pm, Ezinne reportedly sent Ihechidere a message or instruction to go and bring an item from another place connected to the shop. The exact item is not the issue. What matters is what followed after. Ihechidere did not return quickly. Minutes passed. Time went on. According to the confession later made by Ezinne, she became angry because the girl did not come back when she expected her to. Instead of waiting calmly or calling to ask what was wrong, anger began to grow.

When Ihechidere finally returned to the shop, the situation was already tense. Words were exchanged. Voices were raised. Then, according to the suspect’s own statement, Ezinne slapped the young girl twice. At this point, Ihechidere was already being assaulted by someone older, stronger, and in authority over her. In a moment that changed everything, Ihechidere reacted. She slapped her boss back once.

That single action became the turning point. Instead of stepping back, calming down, or separating herself from the situation, Ezinne allegedly allowed anger to take full control. What happened next was quick, violent, and deadly. Inside the shop, she reportedly picked up a kitchen knife. Not a weapon meant for fighting. A knife meant for cutting food. But in that moment, it became a weapon.

She stabbed Ihechidere in the chest. Just like that. The stab wound was deep. Blood started coming out immediately. Ihechidere began to bleed heavily. Witnesses say she collapsed as the blood kept flowing. Panic filled the shop. People around reportedly rushed in after hearing screams. Some tried to help. Some were shocked and frozen. But it was already too late.

Ihechidere Favour Uka died from the injury. A 17 year old girl lost her life inside her place of work. Not from an accident. Not from illness. But from violence caused by anger. Police were later informed. Ezinne was arrested and taken into custody. During police questioning, she reportedly confessed to what happened, explaining the argument, the slaps, and the stabbing.

As the news spread, shock followed. People could not understand how a small disagreement over delay could lead to murder. Many asked the same question. Was it worth it? This case has once again brought attention to the harsh conditions many young sales girls face in Nigeria. Long hours. Verbal abuse. Physical punishment. No protection. No voice.

Ihechidere was just 17. She was not armed. She was not dangerous. She was working. Her death has left her family completely broken. A sister gone. A daughter gone. A young life cut short for no reason that makes sense. This is not just a story about one woman and one girl. It is a reminder of what uncontrolled anger can do. It is a reminder that violence at the workplace is real. And it is a reminder that young workers deserve protection, not punishment.

As investigations continue, many Nigerians are calling for justice. Justice for Ihechidere. Justice that will send a clear message that no employer has the right to abuse, attack, or kill a worker. A cosmetics shop should never become a crime scene. Work should never end in death. This is a tragedy that should never be repeated.

May Ihechidere Favour Uka rest in peace. And may her story open eyes, change behavior, and save other young lives.

You are getting it all wrong bro. Do my assertion tells you I support the boss. I'm just saying as an employee, there are certain things you don't do back to your boss. I for one can never be a wicked boss to the extent of shouting at my workers let alone assaulting them. But also as an employee, I give my bosses the utmost respect they deserve, even if I am older than them.
Ok, you said doesn't the boss knows her sales girl also have anger in her. Now where does her anger lead her to.
In life we ought to use sense to evade so many things.

Do you guys even read and assimilate before replying at all. In my first words, I said nobody has the right to be slapping another person anyhow.
According to the story, it was only slaps which the sales girl retaliated. Except there's something else I don't know of. And it's based on those slaps I said she should have moved away from her reach or better still run far.
And in that process she can report her or quit the job entirely.
Now what has her retaliation done for her, rather than it sends her to her early grave.
Sometimes pretending to be a coward pays.

Bro I will tell you the honest truth, if I were in her position. I may or would have received the first slap bcus it was unexpected, but I won't allow the second one to come bcus before that second one, I would have given the person enough space. Even if the two slaps came at once, I still wouldn't have done anything if this said person is my boss.
But if it's on a normal ground that both of us have nothing in common, you can't slap me and just go like that. But this is different from the story we are talking about here.
.
Now with what I just said, I am not in anyway supporting bosses to be assaulting their employees physically, I am just saying what I would have done if I was in the sales girl's shoe, shikena!

The point I am trying to get you to understand is that it is not about "boss vs employee", the tragic situation was caused by two people that have anger problems and the boss's anger seniors the other one not because she is a boss.

If this Ezinne girl was an employee, if someone had slapped her she would have responded the same way even if the person that slapped her was her boss.

I have seen this happen quite a few times and it is usually these slay girls fighting each other, stabbing or maiming the other one over the smallest of things. Women easily disregard respect when fighting each other, I am sure I am not the only one that has seen this.

Two lives wasted. The employer’s and the employee’s. The employer to spend the rest of her anger driven life in prison and the little girl dead

Ihechidere means what God has written. It was written from the day that name was given to her. So sad. A little girl with no chance to live her life. That life took her to work for the wicked, anger driven lady and it took het life.

May her family be comforted.
