The landlord is in soup, a big soup for that matter. I just hope the landlord has a legal residency in Nigeria. If he's illegal alien, he would loose that house to the government and also get deported to Ghana.

However, our own brother too dey exaggerate things, make him cool down small now. Your fridge wey don spoil tey tey, your TV wey the children don break since last two months. What's your wife doing when rain was falling for not protecting your valuables? Lie lie everywhere for Naijeria.....everyone just want to cash out whenever there's gbege anywhere, ....abeg abeg...this tenants dey lie lie lie......even though we all agree say Ghanian landlord messed up.........

Tenants learn to pay your rent to avoid stories that touch, if you can't meet up I believe you have a village kindly relocate, when things improves you can always come back, you can't be living in someone's house for free telling stories, na stories the person go chop or use take pay school fees, you no get money your prick de raise give your wife belle, they say na who get money him prick de raise
Re: Police Arrest Ghanaian Landlord For Removing Tenant's Roof In Port Harcourt by mrkings84(m): 7:55am On Feb 05
THE TRUTH IS, THAT GHANAIAN LANDLORD IN NIGERIA MAY END UP SELLING THAT PROPERTY SO AS TO BE ABLE TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES HE HAS INFLICTED ON HIS TENNANT.

NIGERIA IS NOT GHANA
NIGERIA IS NOT AN ANIMAL KINGDOM!!

have you forgotten about the ECOWAS treaty, loose which house, na so them take they collect people house. Tenant still go look for house because you still can't fix the roof of the house, because the property is not yours, you are still in deep shit if you don't have money

Even if he gives that tenant 1 year. A bad tenant will always be a bad tenant.

I know this because My uncle was a bad tenant. He almost fought his landlord when he didn't want him in his house again.

Though I don't support the Landlord for taking laws in his hands but I think we should be objective on this matter.

We should not be carried away by this emotional explanation of the tenant.

The lawyers are behind the scenes to change the narrative and implicate the landlord to allow the tenant continue to occupy the house.

Tenant didn't refused to pay rent, quit notice was given before rent expired.

Re: Police Arrest Ghanaian Landlord For Removing Tenant's Roof In Port Harcourt by eventainment(m): 8:03am On Feb 05
Thing is two wrongs don't make a right. No landlord will behave that way if that tenant hasn't been a problem and a menace. For the man to head to court and lay claim on destroyed properties that tenant is evil. Only God knows how the landlord has been bearing lots of things. Nonetheless many landlords are deadly. But let's critically think this will you spend money to remove your own roof when the tenant tells you they are leaving 2 weeks time?

Did you guys read the full article or you only browsed the headline.

Even if the tennant refused to pay rent, landlords have no right to remove the roof, burglary proof, gate or other self help measures. The landlord would probably need to sell the house to offset the damages and legal fees.

Read the write up again n this time slowly...

The landlord told the tenant not to renew his rent when due that he wants to renovate the property, meanwhile the tenant rents expires on January of 2026...
The tenant has paid for another property but can only access the property on or before February 14th, landlord still went ahead n remove the roofs 3 says after his rent expiration...

I honestly don't understand your logic, a landlord cannot have patience wait for two weeks for an allegedly troublesome tenant, and so resort to violence. So if you remove the roof of a property, properties contained would not be destroyed by rain and sun?
