Reacting to Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s comments that the Senate did not reject electronic transmission of results, human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong — made the following post on X: Akpabio thinks he is talking to illiterates. The issue is making e-transmission compulsory. What is in the 2022 Act has been rendered useless by INEC, the Courts upheld INEC’s action. If e-transmission is not compulsory, we’re wasting our time.

These people are taking Nigerians for a ride. He lies with a straight face about official resolutions, then releases a falsified copy of the resolution to backup his lies. |

Hehehe! With the alleged falsification of the Senate resolution on this issue, Nigeria is still on a long thing. Until there is push and legislation on; -1). Use of card reader. -2). No use of incidence form/manual accreditation. -3). Timely electronic transmission of results from the polling centers. -4). Quick modalities for post-election litigations before swearing in, there is no going to be any iota of sanity in our electoral processes. |

The same people will tell you electronic voting is not also possible in Nigeria, asking you if you have considered the market women blah, blah, blah, they are so consumed with trying to cheat that they forget that even the market women, aboki and pepper sellers all now use bank transfer to receive payment, thanks to Opay, Monnie point and co, these days I don't even carry cash going to the market, everything is done with transfer. In fact if you are an adult and you have a phone and you know how to recharge that phone with USSD, then you can also vote electronically, as at now there is no excuse why Nigeria should not even have electronic voting, polling units should just be an option for anyone who wants to go out on the day of election. All the excuses they give is just to find way to cheat the system and the people.... |

Without E-transmission at the polling booth mandated by law Elections in 2027 is a total waste of Nigerians resources. Akpabio can pass law to make Tinubu a life president. Results not uploaded in real time for the world to view only means anyone can sit somewhere and write results and tell you to go to court and still present the same forged result as evidence. No checks, no accountability. Just same old ways of rigging elections. However with realtime upload at the polling station backed by law, any results not signed by a Presiding Officer, and uploaded will be adjudged as void and a cancelled election in a court of law. It allows for more transparency and accountability with more scrutiny of election at the polling unit rather than at collation centres where alot of underhand practices would have happened. It must be backed by law not just a mere exercise inec can decide to undertake as they please. |

Even here on Nairaland, I see something like that. Ordinary voting poll, the results changed days later. These are the people who first abuse others that there are no polls online but they still don't like a fair process. We don't like integrity, we are afraid of truth. Truth does not fear. Lies do. A total waste of time and resources if electronic transmission of elections results is not made compulsory I suggested that Tinubu and INEC simply share the N1 trillion budgeted for the 2027 elections among Nigerians and dispense with the charade of conducting elections altogether. At least that would be more honest. |

There is no reason whatsoever that Irev should be domicile. Transmission of election votes and results in the Irev is nonnegotiable that is where we can have free, fair, credible and transparent elections. The Irev system shows it is a working tool as well the only sacred weapon and remedy to shorthand elections malpractices and irregularities as well the Pathfinder to credible and less elections litigation. If Nigeria wants to fix this country INEC must be fixed first and for INEC to be fixed Irev must be fixed. No retreat! No surrender!! The power must be transferred to people through the ballot! |

I don't understand how people that has been confirmed to rig the most in the last election be playing this kind of opposition? Except of course you are planning to rig through hacking the e transmitting platform. You are setting yourself up. An incumbent president with majority of Senator, house of reps and 90% of governors in Nigeria has nothing to lose. He didn't lose in 2023, he's not going to lose in 2027. Why are the labour party senators and house of reps not protesting? Oh I forgot they all decamped to serious parties. |

runningriot:I don't see any reason why we can't have live transmission of the results and the numbers on NTA. Give it to one young man to do and they will link all results along with the signed copy of the polling unit result to the database that everyone can see. Any voter can fact check their polling unit using a link and this makes the process transparent. After all, APC has monitoring centres, so why are we making a big deal of 774 local government dataset? What are they monitoring? There is no big deal in it, it's the magomago they want to do that is making it bigger than it is that they now call professors and all manner of people just to do counting and verify it. Aren't we ashamed as a country? |
