This is a good decision by the Lagos state government.

This is long over due.
Those guys are unnecessarily dirty and uncoordinated.
Demolish the market or move it to the innermost part of Ikorodu.

While I support sanitising that environment, because too much junks from abroad in that area, but everywhere in Lagos is terrible in terms of refuse dumping. Lawma services are overwhelmed and the so called PSP are no where to be found. Lagos is very dirty. Drive through everywhere, everywhere is littered.

This was one area where ambode and fashola really tried. But now, seems sanwolu government doesn't really care much. If not, they would have sanctioned all those psp owners that fail to function well.
And If state government cannot handle that, they should channel it to the local government. Let them take control of that. Lagos stinks and smells for now, don't let us lie to ourselves.

They won't hear word till actions are taken against them. Na then they'll start crying foul and start comparing Lagos to Abia!

Or rather the government need to on-board new psp operators.

Let the government purchase the trucks and hand it over to private operator on a hire purchase agreement. This way, they are creating employment and also solving the waste disposal problem.

This is a win win situation, government will recoup her money through the hire purchase agreement and might be able to buy money trucks as the scheme grows.
Re: LASG Seals Ladipo Spare Parts Market Over Repeared Environmental Infractions by EPIJOE: 7:57am On Feb 09
During the time of fashola, waste trucks weren't that expensive, so stakeholders and public where given approval to get the trucks and register with LAWMA as the regular and they were effective. Ambode came in board to sanitize and advance the waste management system inclusive Recycling of waste. With vision scape. But the public govt psp people then. Disapproved it. Here we are today.

From Ajah Under bridge in ward Abraham adesanya is a mess. All near road are full of waste materials. The PSP operators are over overwhelmed. Investors don't have #45 to 50M to buy waste truck.

All I can say is, LG and the state will also be affected as their "owo mi da" will be suspended for now. The traders are levied for clean up and refuse collection. Why are the refuse not being collected? Will the traders carry dem to their houses?
Regards refuse dump and collection in Lagos, you will notice that since Oct 2025, LAWMA has stopped regular collection of refuse. Check out Lagos roads and markets, you will see heaps of refuse resurfacing.

Waste management is now a problem too?

Go through the state and see refuges dumped on the road and the divider.

Igbo's are not the only tribe trading in Ladipo. Yoruba's are also there.
Truth be told, Ladipo market is too congested and needs to be decongested.
LAWMA on their own part are under performing under the current government in Lagos state. I sincerely miss Fashola as Lagos state government even though he was mean in some situation.

This is very apt too. Alot will jump into it. But it will be a tough submission because majority of those local psp operators are grassroot party elder state men. It will be a fight to finish.

Lagos has the smalleat land mass in Nigeria and is heavily overpopulated. Those who complain the loudest about the inconveniences are often from states with the least development. As long as people refuse to stay back in their states and hold their public office holders accountable, they have no right to utter a word about Lagos. Don’t you dare mention your meagre owo mi da “taxes.” Go and pay that money in your state and develop it!

Chukwu Abiama Okike bless you... This governor has to be the worst when it comes to sanitation....

The market EXCO would and should have been proactive enough to take a token out of the daily millions they rake from the traders and provide what you are suggesting. By so doing, the will not be shouting of excessive payment to Lawma and also ensure the cleanliness.

Common sense 101.

I don't like this kind of news. These people are trying to survive, but they are the demons. They are the destroyers too. It is a very hard situation to make any comment. Honestly, we are all happy about Oshodi, and this was what Fashola did. Anyway...it is well.

They are just being made a scapegoat. Recently there have been heaps of refuse all around Lagos metropolis due to ineffectiveness of PSP operators. The skip there is filled and overflowing due to inability of PSP operator to swap it promptly.

It's not about the state government purchasing new trucks, but they should provide a permanent site for dumbing of refuse. That's the only way the state can eradicate this LAWMA issues.

The dirt is too much. I can't breath in there..

LAWMA needs to step up..
