I am planning of travelling to the UK for my Msc programme. My main purpose of travelling is as a means of jakpa not that I really need the Msc. I sold the land i bought in Asaba in 2018 for N22m. I plan to use the money for the tuition fee deposit ( £5,000) and other travel expenses. The complete tuition fee is £15,330. I will study and work in other to pay the remaining balance.

My plan is to remain in the UK and work after my study. Please I need your advice.

I will say this only once. Never invest your money in a retrogressive economy!
Nigerian economy is retrogressive.

If unsure about the UK, try other progressive economies since economic survival (jakpa) is your motive.

You set up a business and look for customers, save your profits, reinvest and expand. Foreigners come here, do it and succeed. What is a retrogressive economy?

Thanks for your advice on Schengen country... with the amount Belgium University of Ghent or any is the best to study and have resident for work after graduation with no stress or immigration issues.

Don't invest in Nigeria Business because currently we have bad government policies that can wake up and put measures to sink your life savings.

UK is good to study but can't give you prolonged stay after studies. Schengen is long term plan and higher pay in career to wipe your tears in few months.

Oluwomonext212:
My brother use your money for that business. UK no longer worth it cuz of their immigration rules, certificate of sponsorship will humble you plus new 10 or 15 yrs proposed ILR rule. If you must travel, pls look into other Schengen countries with lesser school fees and softer immigration rules

It s not about what he does for a living as long as it a legal work. If you stay in a good country after some years, you can afford to buy plenty of land in Nigeria.
Oga, keep quiet, it is not as easy as that. You can afford to build a few properties or buy a few lands, and not buying everywhere and anywhere in Nigeria on regular income, except you are into fraud or drugggs.

This is how they deceive you people that abroad is easy as ABC.

Make I add my mouth for this matter.
Me na there I dey. To say it in simple words, I no go advice you make you come.
The hustle here no be for the faint hearted. You will need to earn everything you get here. No Favour's, no anticipate any. People wey you bin dey look up to for here go fail and betray you. You will start from the scratch Work no too dey like that even the menial ones go do you guy (cleaning Oo, factory or even care work) etc.
Coming as a student without full tuition and up keep na big challenge, almost a No No. make I calculate your earnings for you. As a student you get only 20 hours to work in a week when school dey on. That brings your total earnings to 20 X 4 X £12.21 = £976.8. Government go share small with you because you just come. Rent go take about £400 depending on city. If na only you maybe your bills go dey like £150/month. You will most likely to be left with about £350-£400 per month. When you go fit gather am pay your remaining tuition. Ming you the school go dey write you love letter everytime like babe say dem still dey. Na Naija you go still run back to for bail out.
People say travel because of family, that na dey biggest deception and reason to travel. You family is what you will loose first if you come here. Your wife go grow horns and your children no go dey hear you again. E go do you like film.
If you come manage finish school, immigration settle matter go start, you will need a company to sponsor your stay. If not you will need post study visa which go give you only 18month at about £2600 if na only you. Na that high jump you go dey till you go begin reason your life......
inside all this one, cold go dey mama your body, better food to see chop na problem.

If you must come reason am well. No be only school be the way. Other was dey but my brother na scammers full that road. That pesin wey dey talk like say him be better pesin go chop you now now. Dey suffer don change plenty good people.

If you get better business for Naija, focus and grind am to success. The energy you need to make your business in Naija work is small compared to what require to survive here!

Las las you go dey alright.
What are you still doing there? Come back na

If I were you, I would just chill in Nigeria and start a YouTube Channel showcasing infrastructural progress in various states, and then branching out into other African countries. Think Tayo Aina. Wode Maya. If you're serious and consistent, you could be on 5,000 to 10,000 dollars a month within a year.

Your own boss. Answerable to no one. You wake up when you want. That's a luxury.

Within 5 years you could be on $60,000 a month.

No job in London will give you that.

You have the money to start now.

Today, in this digital era, what matters more than academic qualifications is the ability to impact and influence the masses with your voice and perspective. If you're reasonably educated, smart, and well-spoken, you have enough. cool
Baba stop doing care and security jobs. People dey collect pass this one especially for London wey get higher rate

If you have been to the UK before and have first hand experience of what life is like there and you still feel like it makes sense to you then do it. If you start your MSC in September this year, you most probably won't become a citizen until September 2037. cheesy

If you have never been to the UK before and don't have a perfect understanding of what you are signing up for Don't do it. Don't.

Invest the 22 million money in Nigeria. Try pineapple🍍farming, plantain plantation farming, aquaculture of catfish and tilapia fish which you can package for export as smoked fish, or greenhouse farming of fast-growing crops like peppers, tomatoes, and other spices. Do your due diligence and get an expert or mentor in the fields you want to invest in to put you through. Make your money in Nigeria then travel on holidays around the world. There's money to be made in Nigeria. ONLY the ignorant and uninformed posters are NOT seeing what the Lebanese, Indians, and Chinese immigrants, etc, are seeing in Nigeria's untapped wealth.

There's growing anti-immigration in a lot of countries in Europe and Asia right now and you say you don't want to use the Masters degree from the UK so why waste money on tuition and other expenses?

Don't hesitate.. Travel for your MSc.

You will make that money back during your 18months post graduate visa duration and you can be fortunate to secure a leave to remain.

In naija even if you invest 100 million naira, no guaranty of success.

You can DM me for more info.. I'm not asking you for a kobo but I will give you my unbias advise as a resident of UK.

Good day, everyone.

An MBA research study is being conducted at Lagos State University on the topic: " E-Commerce and Cross-Border Consumer Behaviour: Nigerian Consumers’ Motivations and Barriers When Buying from Foreign Online Retailers. "

The researcher would be grateful if those who have purchased from international e-commerce sites (e.g., Temu, AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, DHgates and ASOS) could spare 8-10 minutes to complete an anonymous survey.

Your participation will contribute valuable insights to this academic work.

Which county you come suggest to us wey wan go through the student route for masters and see good income too!
Look towards the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Finland , Austria, Sweden etc) if you can do Australia or New Zealand perfect, na there even oyibo dey japa go.
It try look for other route aside school route. Ifs best if you come into a foreign country and start earning immediately. And most likely you visa duration is longer so you don't have to worry about applying for a new visa after a year or two.

Very practical and honest advice. Kudos.
What of someone going with a spouse and no kids for now?
Traveling to the UK with just a spouse and no kids like every other things has its positives and negatives.

Advantages.
1. Both of you can work with one person working full time when school is in session. Hence the burden of bills can easily be shared.
2. Child care is a big issues here, so you will avoid that wahala until you both decide to have kids.
3. Cost of living will be minimal because you are not getting a big house. Just a single bedroom apartment. You guys can save.

Disadvantages.
1. Some jobs will not sponsor the other spouse for visa renewal if they don't have kids. Both couples will be required to get two separate sponsors and that might be difficult.
2. If the man is the one schooling and the wife working full time and earning more. It might get into her head and she will start misbehaving. There will be no peace or harmony at home and that becomes a big problem. Only a very FEW GOOD woman escape this temptation. As a man you should know your spouse and be several steps ahead of her.

Note.

1. You must learn how to drive before you come here. Car is a very big necessity especially outside London.
2. You need to get into a community that is supportive immediately you enter the country. Find a good church and become dedicated. It will pay you one day.
3. Take advice from honest people that will want to guide you to succeed not some fake people.
