Apparently the GIC has to be opened from Nigeria and the money deposited from Nigeria. My question now is that is there a way I can go about it without losing money due to the exchange rate and conversions.I don’t have Naira I only have Cad

Secondly can I use an online service to notarize my affidavit here in canada, will IRCC accept?

There is no way you will not lose money, the extent of loss will be determined by the method you use. If your sister has a dorm account and you do a wire transfer to her, the loss will be less than if you use exchanges like LemFi or CADREMIT. While an affidavit might be considered the most important part is showing documentation on how you earned the money and your income sufficient enough to sponsor a student.

I opened with CIBC last year August, I’m still in Naija waiting on ircc and my brother in Calgary did a wire transfer to the details provided. They’ll need LOA from the school tho and some other documents.
You might pay extra wire fee of 25 or 50
I can’t remember how much exactly
She can apply and provide you with the wire details like I did or you do that on her behalf if you have all the details needed.
He did a physical notarization though.

Thank you so much for explaining this, I really appreciate the insight. Honestly, I don’t even mind losing some money in the process. My main concern was just based on a bit of research I did, which made me think the loss might be quite significant due to the double conversion from dollars to naira, and then from naira back to dollars after opening the account. That was what I was trying to be cautious about. I truly appreciate your guidance.

That's roughly four months ago, which is quite a while. I recommend you follow up directly with the Graduate Office responsible for the department's admissions.

I’d really appreciate advice from experienced members regarding my Canadian study application, as the process is quite confusing and I don’t want to waste my resources.

Here’s my background

-B.Sc. Economics (2:2), graduated in 2018

-Over 5 years of work experience as a Data Analyst, and more recently as a DevOps Engineer (IT)

-Previously denied US visa 4 times (mainly due to funding and home ties (the generic 214B denial))

Based on my academic result, cost of attendance a friend and an agent advised that I apply to a college diploma program instead since most Canadian universities may not consider my application.

My questions are:

1.Given my education and work experience, what programs would be the best fit for me in Canada, as agent keep suggesting I apply to programs like supply chain management/Accounting but my interest is on IT related programs?

2.Is applying for a college diploma after already having a B.Sc. likely to be an issue during the study visa application?

3.Would a PG certificate/ PG diploma be a stronger option than a regular diploma?

I genuinely want to do this the right way and avoid unnecessary losses. Any guidance, school recommendations, or personal experiences will be greatly appreciated.

Good day everyone, I studied nursing in Nigeria and am looking to migrate to Canada through the study route. Can anyone suggest programs and schools I can apply to. I was thinking of PSW but I don’t know if it’ll be seen as a career downgrade by a visa officer.

Spending millions of Naira on a PSW program as a Nursing graduate might indeed be viewed as a career downgrade and illogical investment. Why not consider advancing with Graduate Certificates in Nursing Practice or Master of Nursing?

To answer your question, I first need to confirm if your program is eligible for a Spousal Open Work Permit. Is it a Master's, PhD, or a professional degree in fields like Medicine, Law, Engineering, or Nursing?

I assume you meant she wishes to have her child and husband as dependents, so I would advise a Master's program. Under current stringent rules and considering her intent, this is the most viable option, as a Master's program would grant access to SOWP privileges and allow her husband to work. It will also make her eligible for a 3-year PGWP.

A significant level of financial capacity is also necessary. For a family of three, She'll need proof of funds for first-year tuition plus approximately CAD $45,000 for living and miscellaneous expenses. Study permit aside, the first thing she needs to do now is apply directly through university websites. I recommend starting with affordable options like the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, or Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Looking at your situation here is my advice:
1. Your educational and professional backgrounds are different; however, you are to continue your career path based on your professional background; that's where you have career progression.
2. You can apply for a college postgraduate diploma for a 2-year program or a 1-year postgraduate certificate program; you should know the difference is in the postgraduation work permit.
3. You can apply for any of the 2, but you should know a 2-year program qualifies you for a 3-year PGWP, while a 1-year program qualifies you for a 1-year PGWP.

Congratulations!

I love hearing good news like this. You did the right thing and closed every possible gap the visa officer could have raised in your application.

Having €50,000 in your sponsor’s account to support the applicant, and over ₦70 million for you and your family, was a strong move.

The ₦70 million clearly shows you can cover school fees and upkeep, while the €50,000 served as solid additional backup if needed.

This is exactly why I always advise people to show at least two years of full school fees 35 million naira plus the required upkeep amount for the applicant and all accompanying family members.

The question of what are her chances of getting the visa lies in the hands of the visa officer who will review her files and how convincing the documents they provide are.

No update yet, I received AOR letter/ Submission confirmation on the 3rd of Feb and I thought that was weird as I thought I should have received that since last year when I submitted application,

Please I need your advice.
I want to apply to Canada however I made a third class and i have already applied to UPEI and got a rejection. Right now , am considering a diploma course in environment and resource law at Saskatchewan polytechnic as my undergraduate is Law. And I also intend to move with family. I know about the Spowp and am aware my spouse can’t work until I graduate but we still want to try it.
