Where's that guy I told earlier today that these companies are paying taxes and royalties to government. Government can never ban them. Majority of them are registered with nafdac. Government will only go after the street sellers, they are the Aaron here. Why not ban the companies from production?? Because they pay taxes and Nigerians are not aware. If you want to fall a tree start from the root. Not untill government start going after the manufacturers I won't take them serious. |

Only the less discerning ould have fallen for the lie. I knew it was arrant nonsense. From pevious thread that published the fake news https://www.nairaland.com/8616397/fg-orders-nafdac-suspend-sachet#138434859 sheedy407:You're ignorant. It's NAFDAC that has been helping them to stay till now and already been accused of enabling the public health nuisance the uncontrolled access to sachet alcohol is causing. The SGF is obviously running his own agenda as it's clear that Federal Government has not stopped it. NAFDAC has bigger issues and more lucrative sectors than small-scale merchants profiting from a social nuisance. The SGF is a politician and being economical by suggesting that he's speaking for the Federal Government. He should go to Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi etc and go enforce his own version of alcohol policy since he claims to be speaking for FGN. Smh. NAFDAC and the Ministry of Health called his bluff in December, this is February, they will still call his bluff again. The policy didn’t ban alcohol production but insists that it must be from 200ml and above. NAFDAC will not issue license for any product that doesn't conform and anyone producing unlicensed product is committing a crime that the SGF cannot provide cover for. The SGF, Senator George Akume, had similar problem with his Benue State Governor. He wants to override during process for political gain. He will not succeed in this one. Ban of sachet alcohol has come to stay and instruments of the law enforcement and regulation will be used to hold everyone to account. |

Well done Mama NAFDAC. The sachet drink has become a menace to society since it is easy to get and buy. Gone are the days where you have to be very comfortable to afford 4 bottles of beer and even now, but with these satchets, you just need at least Figo (NGN500) and your eyes go red. Worse still, Keke Napep riders, vanagon dando drivers and okada riders are major consumers which directly puts the life of commuters in grave danger. |

I listened to the woman interview on Arise TV and she made some valid points with a lot of senses in her claims.Aside the general health implications, she emphasised on the satchet drinks affordability especially to the younger generation.Imagine a primary school pupil buying satchet drinks because he/she can afford it for N50 only, if we don't curb this menace now,by years to come our hospital which already lacked some basic amenities will be stretched beyond it's capacity with complications. manuelkel: |

shegoon:You're right, that is why the government should go after the manufacturers and not the distributors. |

Bad market for retired oloshos, I see price hike in this product just like codine. A sachet might sell at 1k in future, so store as much as you can if you want to go to jail. ![]() |
